Ah hah! Thanks boss.

>All those years I swore I was getting a penalty to perception.. I actually potentially was? God. The GM the one time I asked told me I was full of crap :/
The problem is, so many players don't fully grasp the way systems are supposed to work, and their experiences are often anectotal at best. To investigate every single complaint would be impossible, so you end up dismissing many complaints completely.

I know. But it's still depressing when something you mentioned 4 or 5 years ago turns out to be fact when someone actually looks at the code. Kinda like the thing with bonus in town. And various other things Z has dug up and fixed. It's like "wow, we weren't crazy after all". =)

>>I can confirm that Yuoree is, in fact, crazy. I never noticed this bug at all somehow, but thanks for fixing it.
It had to be brought up several times. I do not know if it affected everyone, but it certainly messed up my character. Example: with substantially more Perception than the Warrior Mage's Hiding, similar relevant stats, day time, heavy wilderness, near full bonus, Beseech Elanthia to Transfer, Wolf Scent, no wounds, and stopped watching just to make sure that bug was not in effect: never able to find him while searching.
Hopefully, the pain of digging through the bonus stuff will cause it to be rewritten.

Just a thought. How do you think he found the bug?
Because he's already rewriting it. Silly :) Didn't they say they were rewriting it at the meeting? It sounded high priority too.
This gives pretty good evidence to that fact. I don't really see him going through the ranger bonus code and magically finding a bug. This smacks of more in depth code digging.

Zeyurn says, "Bonus fixes are probably on the 'very soon' list, along with a more precise way to check bonus level."

He might if he got nagged about it enough.
As far as I know, he is still busy with Necromancer things. It would be a pleasant surprise if he is already rewriting bonus.

I assumed it was something he unearthed while looking into the Blend bug given the recent topic. You'd be doing just as much searching as hiding, and if it was me (I write code for a living -- not for Simu), I'd have "debug" code in to start spitting all the numbers on both sides. He might have seen the search/perception numbers were low.
It's fun to speculate though :)

IIRC, Zeyurn is the one who said he likes to have a couple dozen projects running in parallel.

Z goes crazy hulk-smash if he's forced to work on one thing to the exclusion of all else. Diversity is the song that keeps this dragon sleeping. So, yeah, while necros are probably his top project, he's got perhaps a dozen more that he fiddles with in his copious spare time.
