are people who use the Inns as private rooms aware that there is NO way to be sure they are truly private?
the fact is that Thieves who use the Invisible spell can follow you into a room undetected, or (though it sounds boring), they can also stakeout rooms and wait for couples to enter;
unless you have extremely great eyes (and that includes 75% of elanthia) you won't be able to see them
this isnt just something thieves can do.. anyone with a refractive ring, or invisibility cloak could do the same thing
when a theef showed this to me, an Assist led to the response "nothing we can do, try posting it on the boards"..so, i'm hoping someone has a suggestion

If your that paranoid about it, walk in close and latch the door then relog yourself, not as in quit out but boot your character with your character. It will put you outside the room if your "honey" does the same as well and you then try and enter the room you wont be able to unlatch it, since someone is inside.
Same with coming to a room that is already open you can close and latch if it wont unlatch someone is in there if it will its empty.
Or you could just skip the whole cyber thing and have nothing to worry about.
Warning labels, keeping you alive despite your own stupidity since 1967.

You can't hide or be invisible in private rooms.

You can go inviso in a private home, it just doesn't last very long.
>go arch
[Fayl'Shar Court, Almhara Arch]
Curiously quiet despite its metropolitan location, Fayl'Shar Court occupies a prime plot in the city's most affluent quarter. A broad tree-lined boulevard of imposing estates sweeps southwest toward a quadrangle of grand residences, offering a vista of outstanding architectural beauty. Fronted by flawless lawns and exquisite specimens of rare Elanthian flora, the boulevard provides a pleasant promenade for residents and a living monument to the skills of the master gardeners they employ. You also see a stately black marble manor, an ivy-covered white marble manor, and the Almhara Arch.
Obvious paths: southwest.
>unlock manor
You unlock the door to a stately black marble manor.
>open manor
You open the door to a stately black marble manor.
>go manor
You walk through the door to your manor.
[Shayddow's Home]
A simple stick cot and a sturdy oak table with a blown-glass master's lockpick charm on it rest upon the shimmering sandstone floor of this room. A black steel brazier burns from its resting place at the edge of the cotton rug covering the floor. Rough-hewn oak walls enclose the area, holding in its mild smell of grilling steak. You also see a door and a glossy black silk-cushioned chair.
Obvious exits: none
>close door
You close the door.
>lock door
You lock the door.
hide
You melt into the background, convinced that your attempt to hide went unobserved.
Roundtime: 7 sec.
>
dance the funky chicken...
Turning inwards, you do the hokey pokey funky chicken dance.
Roundtime 3 seconds.
>
[Entering rest mode...press any key to resume.]
5 seconds later....
Your dancing shoes are lost to the noise and motion of the crazy monkeys around you and you feel your ability to dance like a plucked chicken in your neighborhood fade.
>
~Weak of arm, lousy roars;
terrible aim, awful health;
broken fingers, no real stealth;
leave em dead, cause you cant do more; lost your coins, on the floor;
greetings! now you're out the door~

<<anyone with a refractive ring, or invisibility cloak could do the same thing>>
Actually, it's limited. Particularly Invisio cloaks. They only keep you invisio for 45 seconds. After that you materialize and one would have to re-activating the cloak to go invisio again.
Woodcubb of Ilithi
You have crystal blue eyes. You are bald, with dark brown skin. You are clean shaven. You have a tattoo of a huge Taisidonian pearl nestled inside an opened oyster on your arm.

You might want to test this information with an invisiblity ring. They keep you in a buffed up hiding state for a longer time period.
Ruffles Scourge of the Seas
You lunge an emerald green sabre at Jourok. Jourok fails to dodge. The sabre lands a vicious strike that drives the emerald green sabre under the sternum to pierce the heart.

>>You might want to test this information with an invisiblity ring. They keep you in a buffed up hiding state for a longer time period.<<
I have a high end invisio ring that tends to last about 20 minutes per charge, I haven't found one that lasts longer and am not sure what the cap is on those but that gives you a rough idea anyway.
I want to point out though that the invisibility effect isn't perfect, the field tends to shimmer from time to time, drawing attention to itself. If you're worried about someone spying on you while using one of these, relax, after a minute or two you'll know they're there when you see the shimmer.
I would be more worried about Shadewatch Mirror. After you get the initial messaging of the face peering through the mirror at you (Which is very easy to miss by the way!!!), that's all you get. After that, unless someone peers though the mirror you have no way of knowing you're being watched, you can be watched ANYWHERE including when you're in hiding or in a warded room, and the mirror lasts indefinitely. In short, it's the best spying tool in the realms.

Don't believe anywhere. Doesn't work in houses with privacy turned on, and believe the same is with inn rooms. Have not tested this, but will have to do this later.

yup, shadewatch is very devious. A certain MM in plat uses it all the time, and eavesdrops on certain things from guilds he shouldn't see :-(

That would be a yes. They are part of new enchantments that moonies can make.

I wouldn't get too excited about them though since their usefulness will be completely nullified once refractive field is changed. It's highly likely the inviso enchantment will be going away once that happens anyway so enjoy them while it lasts.

Just curious: where in the world did you get that idea?

Yeah no kidding, the people who are doing their deed in a text game have much more going for them.

I can pay off my tab, put myself in a cab, and be back to work before 2. At a moment like this, i can't help but wonder... What would Jimmy Buffet do???
