His background isnt set in stone. Either his family was wiped out during the wars or maybe he is already a member of a family and recently returned to the realms. It depends on who might be interested and which would be more interesting/plausible.
He's a novice bard, and Im still learning the ins and outs of being a bard.
He's not interested in handouts, unless its something like armor or a weapon you got off a creature while hunting.
