I like to check peoples' profiles when I see them chatting on the gweth or something but I've never come across them in game. Not sure why I do it, but I like it. And, when I used to play before it was usually interesting - I might get to see their features, or some funny quote they included, or maybe even get some deeper insight into their character with their preferred location and spouse or something. Lately though, every profile is exactly the same: the default.

I think it'd be a good idea to include a profile nag message, set for maybe every third or fifth login, that pops up about 10 seconds after you get into the game (once that opening scroll nobody ever reads is gone) reminding you, if your profile has never been set, that it's a great way to send a message to other players of what sort of experience you're hoping to get out of the game, particularly with the RP/PvP settings.

+1 on this as long as people can opt out of the nags.

Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

That's why I specified people that are still set default; once you make a single edit, nag stops.

I was thinking more just turning it off outright, without even making one update.

Mind you, I want people to update profiles, but I also don't want it to be overly annoying.

I suppose I see what you mean; I was just thinking that the player in question could just "set" something that was already at its default (like setting PvP to Closed) to get it to stop nagging them.
