Haha... remember when nibble came out and people would nibble on the docks and other random objects?

That was pretty funny before they fixed it.

Heh.. the first day TF was open, some guy had a rune and I talked him into dropping it and guarding it so that we could all use it. A good plan... until you factor in that there are no avoids in TF. One guy dragged away the guard, and another grabbed the runestone and bolted.

I don't know how long we'll stay, but we wanted to take the Tog and the Hillbilly Elf out of mothballs for a little while. I can honestly say that we haven't kept up with DR development at all, and neither of us remembers how to do much of anything.

Yeah, we haven't kept up at all. Since we've been back in GS since last November, we've chatted about popping in over here and decided to do so finally. Once Kim has Nimue activated, we'll swing in. God only knows where in the world we're going to appear... I have a distinct memory of being in Shard but hope it's the Crossing we pop in at.

Some random Trailblazing memories:

Nimue, Lothar and Smahsh really got irked (Wildluck might have been there, too) at Sable for bringing samatak into the Crossing -- this was the first time we'd heard about it and we tried it and didn't like it. So we tried attacking Sable while she was merchanting, in her own tent. I believe she teleported us to Wolf Clan... or Tiger Clan. Something like that.

Skurrzak once offered Smahsh a pig in trade for Nimue. Smahsh had to think long and hard about that one before declining.

My halfling, Mazel, was always fun to play. I wanted him to be a trader but the class hadn't been released yet so he was a thief. When Magus first came to the realms, he was a snerty brat, so Mazel popped him in town with a crossbow from the shadows. Magus learned from that one and became an upstanding citizen forever after that. When traders came in finally, Mazel was the first one out of the gates, I believe. Initially, traders were too hard to play, so I ended up rolling out of it again. One time, when empaths were having a hard time due to the AOL invasion, he rerolled as an empath and stole from people who didn't tip the empaths. Many empaths cheered him on that one. :)

Togball is the one thing I'm most proud of; it started after Kim and I had read a book called GRUNTS by Mary Gentle wherein the orc marines played orc ball. We started it on a lark. Lothar, Dangertog and the other togs got into it early on, and the pickup games were always fun. Eben would get mad when we used him as the ball, swinging him by the tail. I remember we were using a human once who we bit... tasted of copper. Was that actually Sable? I seem to recall Itharr enjoying it, too. Havok never enjoyed it... ;)

The reason halflings are banned from being the Ball is because we loved GM Loki and she would get upset if we threatened to use her as the ball. So it just got written into the rules. ;)

I remember when the croc area opened up and Riverhaven. Loki pulled me, Nimue and Lothar into the area to test her vicious creatures. We couldn't have been more than four or five circles and we were walloping these things. She started crying so Lothar ended up testing them all day as Zoha tweaked them until they were the correct settings for their level.

Nimue riding the comet by accident. Oops! I'll let her speak to that one... ;)

I remember one day in the faenrae reaver area... Smahsh, Nimue and many others died in a swarm. Havok was bleeding to death but hidden, and Enegue had to come in to clean out the mines.

Names of people I can recall: Sheshe, Gabriel, Lothar, Havok and Branny, Impalire, Itharr, Shadowvixen, Cygna, Dreamheart, Eben... many more will come back.

Good times. Heya all. :)

I remember when no one knew how to get deeds (favors? it's been so long since I played DR, I can't remember what they're called). It took hours to figure out. Lothar figured it out first and did his best to help everyone else without giving away the puzzle. That was a frustrating evening. :)

Heh! I wonder if I still have that rattle. We popped in the other night but had to leave quickly. We're outside of Leth Deriel on the western side... Smahsh only has a bit of coin and Nimue is broke. Does the ferry cost anything? ;) We really want to get back to the Crossing. I'm afraid to try and open his vault as it was stuffed to the rafters with things when we were premium and I don't think we'll be returning to that level.

I cracked up when I saw Smahsh was 1.) wearing three harnesses/sheathes. That tog always did carry a lot of weapons, 2.) was wearing his giant gore-splattered boots which seemed to preclude his being able to wear armor directly with them - I seem to recall these were the first boots that acted as armor? and 3.) had his top hat on. ;)

Smahsh and his pigs... he has two different pig pipes on him, for one thing.

He's also 61 years old, I think. Might make him the oldest natural tog not including premium ones who can pick an age?

Seems we left the game after a party for Havok -- possibly when his player enlisted back in the late 90s. Nimue still had the invite. It felt really different being back as the ol' boy.

I remember the game crashing when Nimue and Smahsh held the first glad games -- Kim had stuffed Nimue's vault with so much alcohol for the event that it overloaded the system.

The ferry costs 35 copper kronars each way. You should be able to slaughter and skin a few cougars to get that. Or alternately, you could go south to Shard: The gondola is free.

Fighting cougars? Heh. I haven't even looked at how combat works in DR -- it's been so long I don't recall a single thing! I wonder if we have money in Leth? See, I don't even remember if there were banks in different towns. It has been a REAL long time...

You beat out my own natural Tog from before the web migration. And here I thought 51 was old.

The Leth depository is 2 rooms east of the Sana'ati- the tree with the burl leading into it. And yes, combat is an entirely different beast from when you were here before. You now can brawl bare-handed- and it's actually possible to be effective without tanking your balance.

Yep, here's Smahsh:

Name: Smahsh Ehn'Bahsh Race: Gor'Tog Guild: Barbarian
Gender: Male Age: 61 Circle: XX
You were born on the 7th day of the 1st month of Akroeg the Ram in the year of the Amber Phoenix, 325 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer.

Your birthday is over 3 months away.

Smahsh's circle isn't something I'm gonna broadcast. It's funny, actually -- I never got him that high. I roleplayed him more as time went on and stopped hunting pretty much altogether shortly after the web migration.

I feel you. I pop in from time to time, but everything has changed and it is very hard to catch up again.
My original character was Maroian, who I had to re-roll when I moved from Prodigy to AOL back in the day, pre-migration when you couldn't just play on the web..

I don't know when Smahsh & Nimue left. Karalys & Talvor left about, geez, four years ago? We've been back off and on, but it just hasn't been the same.

Do you remember the opening of Shard? The theft of the ring from the mansion in 'Haven? I'm having a rough time with names of places and specifics, but I think it was Nishu & Kintanna who stole the ring, unleashing a horde of some kind of undead creatures on 'Haven. Shard was one of those great puzzles. I think Robintion was one of the first to 'discover' the city, I know he was one of several people who found the shrine just outside of Shard (I spent years trying to get further back in the collapsed part of that place, convinced there was some dragon-secret to ferrett out).

Some names I remember: Mir, Earthbinder, Robintion, Rhysling, Kakatal, Gorhaut, Talvor, Pablin*, Fandella, Quicknickel (who gave Maro her first helm @ the old temple belfry), Eostre, Kaleesh, Kintanna, Reegal, Dakkone, Meanne, Canten, Erefayna, Jycanth, Alseron, Sspiral, Taygar (Tay-Tog--we call our cat that sometimes), Edgee, Arrgean, Lonemyst, Wyett, Cerridwyn. Who were the Empaths?..I've forgotten so many names.

I'm like you with my circles. So old, and yet so young:
Name: Maroian McAeon Race: Elf Guild: Warrior Mage
Gender: Female Age: 83 Circle: Embarassing.
You were born on the 29th day of the 7th month of Moliko the Balance in the year of the Golden Panther, 303 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer.

Anyway, welcome back :-)

I remember when Loki made the first tobacco shop and dragged Smahsh to it so he could be the first to see it. I even named it... dang, what's it called? I think it was in Riverhaven.

This, of course, led to our untimely deaths in crocodiles.

Hmm.

It seems like a lot of seemingly completely unrelated things I set out to do with Itharr somehow led to our untimely deaths in (insert dangerous hunting area here).
