Earlier today I was talking to someone about the spell trees and was thinking "Man... they were so much worse with Magic v1.0... I wonder if I could find some of those old spell trees" and then looking for something totally random tonight I come across...

This: http://www.play.net/dr/info/spells/spells.asp

No idea why it's still hosted there but... wow. That does bring back some memories of how bad they were (and it really doesn't do justice to like CrS and DO use to be).

Multiple Protection from Evil?
Triple Rejuvenation?
Mass Persistence of Memory?
Zone of Protection?
Fire Shard Volley?
Selective Tremor?
Multiple Ethereal Shields?
Strobe?

And you think half the scrolls you find today are bad :P

And just click that Enchante link - I dare you.
It's also slightly embarrassing how little some of those have changed (Paladins and Empaths for example). Though at least Measured Breaths is gone. Wow. A spell to let you breath under water that had a 20 disc requirement AND a penalty? Water Purification was a real winner too.

Haha, damn. That's old school.

Talk about a blast from the past. I remember Empaths actually asking for Measured Breaths during the global magic preview too...ugh.

Heh, the old enchante list. At least this is after they changed it from having Faenella's Grace as the 1st circle enchante. In those days, the noob was tasked with teaching others in order to learn any vocal experience. Fun times.

what was really sucky was when you played a WM and cast any spell from a particular spellbook you couldn't cast another spell from the same book. That prevented me from wanting to play that guild for quite awhile.

<< couldn't cast another spell from the same book

That's the reason I don't play my original WM anymore. I so would not have gone with those spell choices cept I was forced to.

you do realize that when magic 2.0 happened you got to rechoose all your spells though. so if you reactive your old WM you'll get to rechoose all your spells.

yeah old WM is like circle 18 and a tog with really bad stats who had already rechosen spells poorly after the wipe

current WM is a gnome with acceptable stats and is circle 50 with spells I like.

I'm keeping my current :)

I stand by my statement that DR was a lot more fun back in the days of Magic 1.0, roars 1.0, khri 1.0, etc when once you hit like level 30 everyone could kill everyone in a couple of hits.
