I've been hunting in the same area for about two weeks now. Prior to the stealth/armor changes, I was learning everything extremely well. Defenses, stealths, backstabbing by ambush(not bipedal), etc.

However, post the changes, I found that the creature had gained a considerable amount of perceptive advantage over me. It began spotting me hide, I failed ambushes, failed positioning for ambush, and despite any use of khris, nothing changed. I've been unable to get Backstab beyond muddled since, when before after two creatures, it was locked.

By all means, my armor/hiding/backstab skills are ON LEVEL with this creature, so now I'm here, frustrated, and not wanting to travel to another province -just- to train stealths. I should be able to do this with no problem like I was before.

I've also seen a sizable decrease to my stealths since the change. I went from never failing to hide and backstab to not being able to hide at melee.

This is with a bit more then 200 in relevant armors and using a pure leather setup of tanned azures, reinforced hide gloves, tanned garg cowl, and tanned croc buckler.

Has anyone noticed no change or an improved ability to hide?

My Thief noticed no change in his ability to backstab or hide at melee. However, this is at very low levels.

Hm, I'd have expected younger thieves to be hit harder by it since we should be training off the hindrance as we go.

If you need some assistance in the stealth department, remove torso armor while you are working your stealths and you should certainly be fine. Unless you're getting grazed a lot, removing armor will help your defenses anyway so it shouldn't threaten you overmuch.

Are goblins perhaps super blind? Perhaps I was just on the upper end of them, so I didn't notice the change as much.

As a note, the max possible stealth hindrance for full leather is less than 30%. That's at 0 ranks, and the first chunk goes down reasonably quickly. If you're in full leather or full cloth in general you shouldn't be having much trouble with Khris or Confidence or Thief Bonus unless you are hunting precisely at level for stealth.

Full chain or higher starts to get tricky.

my thief noticed no change, my mm however was able to hide melee with cougars with very few ranks in bone armor. <less than 10>

>>remove chest armor

Yeah.. leathers.

I'm precisely at level with high confidence in a non-urban area with two khri for hiding/stalking. I was hunting slightly above for stealth but it was moving too slowly. So I should ditch armor when I switch from defense training to stealth training now? I'll give it a try.

Thanks for replying, Zeyurn.

>Yeah.. leathers.<

Yes, they're leathers. But any armor is going to penalize you. I did spread out the curve a bit to make armor ranks slightly more useful, and make cloth at least mildly desirable from a stealth standpoint.

We're in the middle of a big stealth shakeup and reinvention so I'd expect things to be a little chaotic for a while, the armor re-evaluation is meant to be one piece of a much bigger cog.

I'm pretty sure MARK takes into account armor penalties so why not use it to get an idea of how much your armor is hurting you?

Removing my armor for stealth training didn't help at all. I still had no burden, top of my game, I tried khri and ambushes to no avail.

Looks like I just have to go hunt under my level.

With armor:
As you consider an attempt to stalk the creature, you believe it has a low chance of catching you.
You feel highly confident in the accuracy of your judgement.
As you consider a stealthy assault on the creature, it'll be troublesome to get at its back.
You feel highly confident in the accuracy of your judgement.

Without armor:
As you consider an attempt to stalk the creature, you believe it should be possible to stalk.
You feel highly confident in the accuracy of your judgement.
As you consider a stealthy assault on the creature, it's somewhat of a long shot.
You feel highly confident in the accuracy of your judgement.

Well, that's unusual if you were having no problems before, but MARK is saying that you should be having trouble without a lot of buffs.
