Not too worried about making them since it's gonna be a a long while...

But how much skill in Lockpicking should I have before I worry about chossing grandmaster's lockpicks over master's? Don't wanna bother spending more till I actually get the benefits.

if you are a thief you get a benifit to GM's over master.

if you are a thief, chances are, you don't need a GM lockpick. I have yet to use one anyway. I didn't use masters till I carved 'em myself. Lockpicking is pretty easy when you get down to it. One can open 95-99% of the boxes in the realms with 200 lockpicking.
