Well, it's been a long, long time, but dusted off the old scorpion boots and decided to sneak around a bit.
A lot has changed and I can barely play the game with all the changes. What is considered a high level these days?

Case by case basis, sometimes they still have something cool about them, sometimes they function still well, typically a lot of new crafting weapons and armor have the edge on the old stuff.
I don't think you should just go by a blanket statement though.

As droll and boring as it sounds, the best thing to do is appraise every weapon you have collecting dust and compare it to what can be accomplished with steel weapons currently. Look at the damage factors but also pay attention to balance, suitedness, and the weight of the item.
In some cases, you may find that the old weapon exceeds the damage of the new weapon at a lower weight. This is a good thing and makes it still viable and valuable.

The other thing is if the item has scripts and or verbs, a lot of the new weapons are awesome and nice, but some people still like fancy flashy items.
It may take a bit of time, but if you liked them, then there may be a chance they still can be liked and used in their own merits (per Kasto's post).
