Seriously...how bad does DR hate stealing?
The gondola is stealing-proof. They made it twice as slow when Traders with caravans are crossing but you still can't steal from them.
For the love of Pete...stop removing opportunity. There's no IC reason for it and due to GM's folding to what I can only assume is peer pressure, there's very few hot spots for pvp stealing anymore.
Make it stupid hard...I don't care. But mechanically forbidding stealing in obvious stealing locales is failcake. You either have to be looking specifically for conflict or find someone who's outrageously (and incompetently) scripting to get any use out of stealing. In both of these cases, skill is relatively unimportant.
God knows stealing from NPC's doesn't net you much more than your fines. It's hard enough to turn any kind of profit with the skill without being sabotaged.
Please fix/remove/improve. How it's being approached/handled right now is very lopsided and frustrating.
People will find you just as tedious and boring to talk to at 1000 ranks as they did at 100.

If you look back in the history of this, it was MMs in RF who actually were the impetus for stealing being removed from the gondola, not guilded thieves. Guilded used to mostly hang by "steal-claw" clan. ya, i spelled it that way on purpose... It was a point on the route that couldn't be avoided, and #2, it was "in-town" enough that you didn't have to stalk to steal. Which eliminated the old "approach time" thing. of course, now theres that new "approach time" with the "pvp" warning thing. So its more trouble than its worth.
now there aren't really many traders that ply the southern routes compared with the "bad old days." And those that do, have moneybelts, and keep all the good coins inside.

Oh and last one, DR at any given time has a population of weenies that will criticize at the drop of a hat, don't take things personally it happens to everyone.

The problem with stealing from players is that there was good rewards with little consequences. Thieves would run around laughing that they stole from people because they knew that they did not have the skills to do anything about it. On top of that, even the mechanics make it too easy. Accusing someone gives them a small fine and little time in jail.
Now if you really want to steal any where, any time you are going to have to deal with stuff. First, if I catch you, I can hire as many people as I want to kill you as many times as I want until you pay me what I believe you stole from me. Plus the fees I have to pay the killers. Plus what I consider my time is worth to get that money from you. On top of this, accusing would have to be changed. Caught and accuse would result in a 100 fold times in debt you would incur, due to me for compensation, plus a fine from the court. And for you crimes you would have to spend RL days sitting in jail doing nothing.
Absurd? Of course. But if you want realism in where you can and cannot steal from players, you have to accept realism in justice system.

This is already the case, in fact, even if you didn't catch them, but somehow "know" they stole from you. Stealing from other players locks you PVP Open.
I don't mind some no steal areas, but places that make zero sense (the ones that bug me the most are the shops where I can steal from the shop, but not steal from players) should really have stealing turned back on.

uhm, lol. You hire people in real life to kill the pickpocket who lifted your wallet? times really are getting rough out there, eh? Dont rant about realism if you're not also willing to accept the 'realistic' consequences of sitting somewhere mindlessly folding paper animals or reading crafting books only to become amazingly offended when someone empties your pockets. Them's the breaks bub. Dont like it? Go hide somewhere that mechanics will prevent you from being stolen from, otherwise you can enjoy the IC/OOC rage of having someone exact their right as a pickpocket to exert that skill against your text.
Thieves will steal anywhere its advantageous for them to steal, from anyone its advantageous for them to steal from, whenever its advantageous for them to do it.

If people had the money or the pull to, in old days? They certainly did. Even if it wasn't about the money, it would have been about the face lost by letting someone steal from you. So yes, they would have.
Let's save us all some time: I'm a troll who rarely has anything helpful. There.
