In reference to the Social, here are places where you can find research on your items... General rule: The more expensive/rare the item, the more likely you are to have trouble with it. Also, the more popular the item--if its not famous, a thief isn't anymore likely to know where it comes from than a trader.

Can I just take this moment to point out, no trader should be holding or selling any Ambika item. That being said, if you wish to rid yourself of any thiefly items before someone else does (and I assure you they will) then you can contact me at my play.net addy and I will be willing to set you up with several who are wishing to purchase them and are of the shadowy nature.

Let me first state that I do respect Ambika's decision to make her wares solely for a former guild.
With that, I think that Ambika, and future merchants, should allow Traders to be able to hold these items, after all, Traders can be considered reselling merchants (market tables/auctions).
Along the lines of Solomon's "What if...", what if there are evil (oriented) Traders; one of their roles were to smuggle or distribute/supply a former guild with weapons. Something along the lines of an Ilithian Bard.
It could bring connections within a guild and a former guild closer together.
Well, this is just part of my argument to have merchants put Traders into account when they're peddling - they are indeed affecting the economy; and as players in the economy, we'd like to be apart of it.
