Earras struck a cord with this issue. DragonRealms is getting close to 7 years old if you include Beta (just over 6 if not), and I think it is time to do some serious shop inventory. Remove things, add things. This does not mean increase prices (I understand the Crossing area will always have cheap stuff due to it being a Newbie entry area), but some inventory rotation in the old shops is overdue for sure.
Arthe Dale (glimmer stuff...come on? get rid of it and bring back the bastard sword)...Stone Clan (overhaul the whole shop), Dirge...that goes without saying..::cough::

I'd like some of the old things to come back like the trader badges, gem seller's pins, the fragile black diamond rose...
I'd love to see all shops have rotating stock.
Not the whole inventory but I've seen this at merchants were there are stock items, say the 'catalog" items in the shop and then an extra room for rotating items. Some shops have extra rooms that are currently not being unused.
The rotating items could rotate according to GM whim so we'd never know what could be there. This would increase traffic to the shops especially ones that are currently neglected.
More shops need items displayed so we can take a gander at them and appraise them before buying also.
The Gem Store badly needs for there to be a way to buy unusual or rare gems. Also having a way to take in a rare gem or metal to have a piece of jewery made out it would be very nice.
More dyers! People love dyeing things but right now there are some very limited color choices. New dyers in more provinces would encourage people to travel and spend money. New metal dyers too who could dye portions of the armor or blade (a bastard sword dyed metallic blue on the pommel, some chain dyed forest green on the chest)
New engravers that don't have gods or gods animals or stuff. Perhaps a mail-in contest or poll for the new images? And please, pretty please let them show in the tap!
More skin shops. Places where we can buy 'trophy" pelts.
More facepainters and tattoists. Even a wandering tattooist who showed up festivals like they do in GS3 and you can pick one of a LIMITED run tattoes.
More horse fluff. Loved the jade ribbons for the horses. Need more of this stuff. Horse warpaint? <drools>
Re-vamping shop inventories would be great. People love new stuff, it begs to be bought.
