So i'm sure this has probably been asked before but i am curious if there is a way to allow mechanics for a trader to receive goods for sale while s/he is not online. Here's the situation i face, i collect bundles/pouches/various items in bulk which i then funnel through a trader for selling. The problem is, he's not always online for me to drop off whatever i happen to be collecting at the time and i am either stuck vaulting it(if i have enough room) or just discarding it.

I was thinking that with the advent of shops and shop owners, there should be a way to allow a clerk there to hold on to a trader issued crate. The process would be something along these lines: 1. you've established a relationship with this trader, 2. s/he issues you a crate bearing his/her name, 3. you fill the crate with bundles/pouches/dropped weapons/gear/etc, 4. return the crate to the shopkeeper's special attendant where it stays on hold until the trader returns and contacts the seller to exchange coin, 5. profit?

I figured that the number of crates could be added based on trading exp or circle perhaps, the special attendant would of course cost extra coin and maybe it could be tied into the shop mechs so that maybe a percentage of the appraisal value of the crate could be counted toward shop sales. The number of total items "held" could also be limited based on exp/circle.

I think this would be a great add on to the current shop mechs and if the trader issues the crates it will help to weed out people just turning in garbage for the trader to sell since, ideally, the trader would only issue crates to people who have already established business transactions.

Thoughts? Improvements?

Perhaps if you have a relationship with that trader, the crate would be set to only accept from people the trader has set it to. Also, each item would have to be labeled with the character's name. How are you going to get the profits back from the trader? I wish there was a note system in game, even if the character isn't logged in.

I am fully behind this idea.

I have no ulterior motive on this. at all. :)

I also am a fan of some sort of Mail system coming to DR.

>>How would...

>give crate to attendant
You hand your crate to the attendant who carefully takes down your information and scribes it to a note. She places the note in the crate and sets the crate in an orderly pile in the back corner

"I'll make sure Joe Trader gets your crate. Check in with me from time to time to see if Joe has processed your items. For now, take this receipt."

>get receipt
You get a receipt from your pouch

>ask attendant about receipt
Taking your receipt from you the attendant matches it up to his ledger.
"Let's see, Diggan was it? Oh yeah! Joe took a look at your goods and has offered 84600 for the lot of them." The attendant scribes the amount on the receipt and hands it back to you. "Go ahead and TAP the receipt if you accept this offer, otherwise, TEAR the receipt and I will return your goods."

>TAP receipt
You sign the receipt and hand it over to the attendant. The attendant hands your crate.

>look in my crate
In your crate you see a receipt and some coins.

>look receipt
On the receipt you see listing of the items that you turned into the trader and the amount you were paid.

>get receipt
You get a receipt from your crate.

>read receipt
You turned in:
A platinum deed
A platinum deed
A red gem pouch
A red gem pouch
A red gem pouch
A tight bundle
A tight bundle
Joe has paid you:
84 platinum kronar
6 gold kronar
Total: 84600

>get coins from receipt
You grab some platinum coins

>get coins from receipt
You grab some gold coins

>smile
You smile.

If you wanted to get more complex you could counter the offer and give it back to the attendant. Obviously this is from the "Adventurer Bob" perspective, and the trader side would have to be written out.

I actually think rather in stores, it would be a great service to have at Trader Outposts. That way out on the islands and stuff you could submit your crates and the traders could travel out and service the crates.

I think to avoid abuse, you have to limit the items to tied gempouchs, tied bundles, and deeds.

Even if my concept isn't liked, the overall idea you came up with is great.

on a similar note, i find that i would want to have my hireling accept payment for goods delivered, or be allowed to be sent off to collect goods from other people.
