I don't want to knock your work (and I'm not a trader so I haven't tried it) but as described it looks like it's just replicating the function of INVENTORY [container].

Am I missing something?

This was talked about before. INVENTORY {CONTAINER} doesn't handle nested containers. Since this is based off the vault book mechanics, it will find and list items inside of items inside of items etc.

It was a player request at some point that I gathered from these boards when I was going through older posts, and it was less than a 10 minute addition. Win/win with no significant loss of attention to other work. :)

INV [container] doesn't show what is in the containers in that container. Vault books do.

actually, vault books are limited with certain select items as well.

Spellbook cases <the big ones that you can turn> will only show what the spellbook case is "pointed" to. yet you can have other items in the spellbook case that aren't listed when you have a spellbook. Since Traders will eventually become spellcasters, does this ability list everything in a spellbook case? Or are they ounder some strange mechanic unto themselves?

It functions exactly like vault books. They share the same bits of code for assembling the list. I think each compartment in a spellbook is treated as a separate container, and the "hidden" ones are truly hidden. If that's the case, vault books and attendants won't see them.
