What the heck happened to my owl familiar?
It used to be a yellow-eyed spirit owl, now it's a spotted cream and gold owl!
Has this happened to anyone else?

Did this happen recently? My owl hasn't been affected, though it had been subjected to the last unexplained change a few years ago (and became much better!). My lizard is also the same, but it was also reset back to its appearance.
I just checked the third verbose familiar (bats. Unless there's another I've forgotten about) and I don't look at that thing very often but I'm pretty sure it HAS changed from a something like a... (and again my notes are not in Canada) brown mountain bat? To a soot-black tropical bat (which honestly I will be keeping!!)

perceive your talimsan and see if it has a funny name... that's where i got "madcow" from, it said that instead of power...

So there was an update in, apparantly, mid 2010 which caused the familiars with more verbose adjective sets (owls, lizards, and bats) to change descriptions.
Reading my own post from that time, my bat changed back then, so no alarm there!
If you're returning from a long hiatus, or only just got around to summoning that disused familiar, it might be the 2010 change. We were told back then that if we assisted with the old description handy, someone would fix it. I had my lizard reverted but kept the new owl and bat -- because they went from blah to awesome. Might be worth bringing it up with a gamehost!
