Should be running fine now. There are a few things that aren't updated yet, mainly that you have to enter the forums through the pulldown menu. It will be added to the main choices as soon as the artwork is done.

So... there is an Aether Cabal website.

Do any other Cabals have websites too? If so, please post website details.

This will give an example of the work and effort, to date, for each Cabal. In my opinion, any issues with specific spell books and abilities are generally discussed in other WM magic folders. This is counter-productive to establishing Cabals.

My suggestion is that we implement specific Cabal folders for each element. Currently, specific spell book issues are all lumped into general folders. The current folder set up does not support Cabal membership and could be considered inappropriate when viewed from this perspective. These could be supported by websites such as the Aether Cabal site too... that is if any folks have had the time and skills to do so.

Specific folders will eek out members. Some folks may then be members of more than one Cabal... purely through their input.

As far as I know, there are only two of them.

A larger majority of us board-reading people would love to get cabal-related bonuses if/when they are coded, but otherwise have no time or inclination to participate in cabals at present.

Course, the lack of in-game structure could be hampering the cabal-participation of the majority of warrior mages, who don't hang around the boards much.

::Sniffle:: What ever happened to doing things for the sake of fun and enrichment? I'm not researching Aether Lash (which is finally useful again) and Aether Theory for the Cabal just cause I want some sort of reward for it other than having the knowledge of things that are important....

Oh wait, I forget where I am sometimes, nevermind...

keep up the good work , not everything we do is for reward, even circling gets old after awhile. I like the idea of cabals, and was around when they first came about, but time restricts me . And i also understand the reason some dont wanna get involved due to no gm sanctioning. If our own gms dont wanna get behind it, then it is discouraging. But to those of you who keep going with it, kudos to you and do ya best.

Shurin,

More people would be inclined to participate if there were something to do besides just claim membership.

Ouch. Tough times when studing an element and its related elemental magics to further its understandings and effective usage is no longer considred something to do...

You don't need to be a member of a badly named elemental fan club to do this, though.

Very very true. I can do my research without sharing with others of the same intrest, just like everyone else. Heck, i bounce ideas off of mages who've never even heard of the cabals all the time and learned a lot, just like I learn a great deal from people here on the boards. It just helps to be in regular contact with other mages that have like minds and diffrent views on similar ideas.

If the Aether Cabal is where some of these mages who want to study aether gather, then I'll work with the Aether Cabal. If a group who takes on the name "The Clan of Magik Uzers of House Death Monkey (and Pestilence Baboon Inc.)" wants to share their unique insight on Aether and offer me membership in exchange for some of what I've gathered, sweet deal.

All of this applies to the other cabals too I'd think. It's not about having membership to a club, poorly named or not. We aren't gathering information and using it for our own personal good like a certain other Cabal did a long long time ago.

In the words of a certain Mr. Oe, "It's all a matter of Study!"

We have a total of four released aether spells and maybe three books which might contain (as an after thought) some relevant information. Beyond studying spell messaging and passing the same passages around at each meeting, how much research can you do? Unless the GMs are leaving coded messages IG that only the Aether Cabal can interpret, your research should be completed in three sessions.
If you had some other purpose for existing, like all sharing a particular philosophy or striving to perfect your weapon skills, you might have something.

Yeah, Fire used to have a website. Technically it's still there, but I never finished it, due to feeling lack of interest from so many sides. Who knows, maybe I'll pick it back up yet, if noone else does. ;P
