"Master Magmus will be away for a bit, so I've been given a small bit of leeway when it comes to this group. The Sons and Daughters of Arhat is more of a group then it is a cabal, however, I still like to think of it as one. Please read the information from our first informal meeting carefully and seek me out if you have desire for more knowledge.

The Cabal of the Sons and Daughters of Arhat:
First Informal Meeting

The 26th day of Dolefaren the Brigantine, Year of the Amber Phoenix 374 A.V.
The Anlas of Berengaria's Touch

Missive: We seek like-minded mages that will not hinder the growth of the group and the possibility we may impact the guild in such a way that we may not have to skulk in the shadows while practicing certain spells. This group is meant to persue all forms of knowledge, both of the present source, and the past. We are interested in discovery of new magics, recclamation of old and censored magics, and direction for the future of our guild. We wish only to research ourselves for the benefit of our guildsmen so that they may become enlightened as to the true greatness of the Warrior Mage.

Cabal Membership: Those seeking membership need to be part of the Warrior Mage guild and well educated in our guild history. Candidate worthiness is based mainly on true desire to discover what we had once been in the past and what we must do to become great again in the future. An Apprentice has the same rights as dose a Master in our Cabal. We would like to make our cabal multi-provincial and multi-elemental (in other words, we do not discriminate in any way). Research teams may be expected to travel.

Meeting Schedule: The first meeting will be a lecture and discussion on Warrior Mage guild history. It will include a basic outline of what the Cabal can offer to all interested Warrior Mages. The second meeting will be for interested parties wishing to gain admittance into the Cabal. Please note: Further formal meetings of The Sons and Daughter of Arhat have been suspended until Master Magmus's return!)"

OOC: Please seek me out in the game: I'm in Crossing or Ratha or Langenfirth or Shard these days! You can also email me at mytherceriadr@yahoo.com. Or you may contact me via AIM at MytherceriaDR. I welcome any and all questions, and would very much love to be approached in the game to roleplay!

I see you've attempted to spread your plague in multiple places, so just to be sure, I leave you my warning here as well.

There are no Cabals. To establish them would be a plague upon our guild. And you sir, I know what you're planning, I know what your Master is and has. You and all who attend will be watched.

Crimes committed against Province and Guild will not go unpunished.

Oh Elriic...it is so sad to see that you view the pursuit of knowledge to be a plague.

Pursuit of knowledge and pursuit of blatant evil and scourge, not to mention pursuit of something ILLEGAL to both Province and Guild are two different matters.

A great deal of magic we once had that has been lost can not even be remembered, much less banned or concidered illegal. Perhaps one day you will understand that knowledge, power, and magic are neither good nor evil. The mindset of the weilder is the only evil. And even then, I have never met something completely evil without a trace of good in it. So....judge if you will. But we have no need to hide our research or our progress from the guild as a whole.

The ZEF stands for Zoluren Expeditionary Force.. The official name of the Zoluren Navy. The pirates that attacked Riverhaven were using uniforms stolen over 10 years ago.

I do however admit I need to update my avatar as I currently serve in the army as opposed to the navy.

The Aether Cabal, hell-bent on doing some light research and having a nice time meeting people, I think would disagree with you.

The bottom line here is that cursing is fun, and thats whats important. Also breaking things over peoples heads is fun. So as long as we can all argue in a way that is both fun and obscene we can all have a good time. -Sigmer

I've been giving those folks some thought. I've chosen to ignore them for the time being because they're more of an informal meeting group rather then a true Cabal. My resources are keeping an eye on them however and retribution will be swift if they become fanatical.

I replied to this back in the other folder it was in... but please remember the difference between OOC and IG. Don't take OOC knowledge into IG. And as for knowing what he has, he never told you. So technically you don't know. So technicaly you have no reason to watch him. It's sad when people see things on boards and claim things in game cause of it because they can't get involved any other way. I really wish there were penalties for bad RP'ing just as there are awards for good rp'ing.

I've seen games like this. You end up being forced into the GMs idea of "good rp".

Steel.

Wrong. There are cabals. Technically, they have been around longer than you have, if you want to count the original elemental mage clans as cabals. Not-so-technically, they were developed during the many years that you were locked out.

As far as you should be concerned, they are elementally-focused research organizations who have chosen something that you consider to be in bad taste as an organization name. Historically, cabals were never a problem for the Warrior Mage guild, as the guild is a fairly recent innovation. Also, historically, cabals were never a problem for Warrior Mages in general, as there were never any cabals before their recent incarnation as research organizations.

Please take a few steps back, and aim your paranoia at the proper focus, the clans. Take your fears and go after the obviously anti-guild inhabitants of the various clans, like Steel, Knife, Wolf, etc. Remember that it is only a few who actually ever referred, incorrectly, to the Blackfire Clan as the Blackfire Cabal. Big difference in meaning, there.

I, for one, find your oft-expressed, seemingly ill-informed, paranoid attitude extremely tiresome, and it does not appeal to me, nor apparently any other vocal posters, in the least.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I have no idea who DRLIGHT is. This has nothing to do with any character on the DRLIGHT account. Those who Elriic is sicked on right now know who they are.

Cabals are not illegal.
Blackfire is forbidden and that fact has been observed far more than nefarious acts shifting- a true threat to the realms!
Training, studying and focusing in one area of the elements is exactly what is needed to increase the ability of that area of elemental lore.

Blackfire is power. Just as so many other spells are power.
Shall we outlaw area affect spells next?

(OOC: I see RP being played out very well between Elriic and the Blackfire Cabal. So long as both sides continue to keep in the spirit of the coming feud and don't begrudge the deaths that may occur in future arguments. For the moment, I'll just stay back and continue to poke holes in Elriic's narrowminded, bigotted arguments against education and study)
(grin)

I can't fire them. I hired these guys for three days a week and they just started showing up every day. That was four years ago

Indeed. I, Jolebin Swordstaff, Elemancer of Riverhaven, of the Aether Cabal, move to so disagree!

<<Any of the aforementioned posts.

I agree. Every good story has a villain and a hero. I am not about to admit I play the villain, or claim I am the hero. However, The Sons was designed for guild-wide RP. Magmus has -always- been a firm advocate of Blackfire research. During the guild meeting in Haven many years back, Magmus -was- chastized for his very verbal outburts concerning the lies of the Eth'Riel Clan.

Magmus is not the most 'pristine' of characters, and has been involved with a -host- of 'evil' or 'villain'esque characters (See Velmix, Yhaman, Ralel, Lasarhhtha, Amaggo amongst others). If folks want to RP knowing Magmus to be an advocate of Blackfire, and 'thinking' he may have the spell...I say 'go ahead'. But, the truth is, those who know for a FACT he has the spell are only his most trusted friends. He very rarely wields the spell, save in the most isolated of conditions.

As for Blackfire being all 'evil' and what not, it's really up to how the GM's want to take it. It is most definately a sorcery, although, through more RP with Yhaman I have come to learn some amazing IC information that I had not known, even through Magmus' own IC experimentation. Even if Yhaman considers Magmus a 'wetlander', he has shown mild trust and has conversed with him every so often.

Basically, there is no real reason to argue. It's all mild propoganda from both sides. What I'm -trying- to do, my camp and I, is to offer the WM guild some RP. I expect folks to be 'against' the underground Blackfire moment. I expect folks to be 'for' the underground Blackfire movement. The morale of the story is for the this 'epic fight' to be a verbal, RP'ed one, not snide remarks on the board and cheap attacks IG (which I have been close to recieving on various occasions. I still <3 you all...).

If you want to get involved in this RP, by all means, contact me at Magmus3654@aol.com. You'd be surprised how open to suggestions I am. If people are interested in making Magmus into a martyr, and the GM's would -actually- do some guild RP with trials, and a book on Blackfire could be released (the real truth about the spell), etc, I am all for it. However, until we see some official RP...I am more than willing to continue working on the Sons of Arhat to offer those WM's who -want- to know more about the guild IC'ly, stuff you won't hear anywhere else, to come seek me IG. I will be making a post sooner or later concerning the Sons formation again.

For those that are interested, by all means, IM me or find me IG. Or even post back. I look forward to the coming RP...
