Fire will never be colored by pattern hues, last I heard. Something about in-game lore about colored fire.

It doesn't outright change the color of the fire. Yes, in game lore reveals that different colors of fire have different properties, such as black fire. The only other one I can ever recall is blue fire which was healing.
