They're not wards, they're elementals.
But I do agree, except that stealing thing, we're not a thiefs guild, want to go steal inside a guild, go steal inside the sewers or something.
However, we should also turn off the teaching just outside the guild, make people actually go inside for class, this was the biggest waste of "developement of structures" for the wm's otherwise.
If there were no cost or sacrifice involved, there wouldn't be any benefits worth learning, and the entire system would be pointless. --GM Wythor

WMs can power percieve wards, can't the moonie guild? Why don't you go perc the whole area and let me know what wards you find.
If you want to call the OCC Switch a ward fine, I can agree with that.
Just because you call a rose a catapiller, doesn't mean the rose will eat leaves or turn into a butterfly when it opens.
We call vw's bugs, but I don't go around stepping on them all day. It's called a tower and it does tower, but structurally it's neither cylindrical or tall enough. Its more of an observatory, but we've one in crossing already, complete with stare scope.
16:36 PDT
You sense an Ethereal Fissure spell matrix infusing the available mana streams with a good amount of extra elemental energy.
The Ethereal Fissure should last for approximately seven roisaen.
Roundtime: 6 sec.

And yes thats a personal archive message, DR-(current wm guildmaster) WM guild may of changed that, but NO ONE hangs out inside any more so getting a fresh one is hard.
That's inside the guild, the safe room outside the guild is just that.

Any more so than insisting they're wards? Or Highered guards on the pier, or at the bank? Or trained shadows in the traders guild?
War mages have a history of hiring elementals for menail tasks. OOC switches are menial tasks that we hire elementals for.

Fresh from inside the guild:
An air elemental appears before you and says, "I will have to inform (Zombiemage) of your attempt to steal from him." The elemental quickly floats over to (ZombieMage) and whispers in his ear.
The elemental fades away.
You consider it, but (ZombieMage)'s meager coins just aren't worth the effort.
See, elemental. This time you forgot to do your homework.

No part of the Moon Mage guild I know of is a safe or no stealing room, with the possible exception of Kssarh's office because those rooms tend to be.

We have an archery range and a target range on the second floor. Honestly don't know what the archery range is doing there, might as well add a dagger board and a pool table. The how is all the school teaches us, the where, is anywhere but the school.

Come on Wythor, it's all about practicality. I think the consensus among Warrior Mages has been for a very long time that the guild (in front of it to be specific) was an interesting and fun gather place when the safe room mechanics did not work. I realize a few bad apples may have ruined that years ago but those people are probably not even around anymore. Why punish everyone else for it?
Friendly spars, and even an occasional unfriendly PvP conflict do tend to break up the tired old routine of juggling, folding, and focusing on camb. I have some great memories of the place before, and have made friends there over 10 years ago that i still talk to today.
Let's just give it a shot and see what happens. If it results in unnecessasry distractions for the GMs shut it down againn.

Half of the people there at any given time are AFK scripting, as well.
I don't know why GMs haven't zoomed in on that spot to bust scripters en masse.

Re: Crossing guild on 05/27/2009 10:29 AM CDT
Weather or not they're afk is really just speculation. You're probably right that people tend to go into a safe room with lots of other people doing the same thing if they were to go AFK.
This I don't really care about, regardless if the person is AFK or not they're still going to be doing the same boring thing and not interacting with other players because there is nothing to do. An occasional conversation is struck up here and there i'm sure, but nothing like if it was still a known spot to find a spar if you were so inclined to do.

Inside of it, yes. Outside wasn't very practical because the mana sucked. I remember it being hazy, then sometime during all these changes it was bumped up. I used to go inside the earth room and do all my training. If i was sitting in front of the guild i'd be teaching or listening to a TM class and laughing at Frogspawn or Ragran doing silly things. Spars would start up at random. Thieves would get pointed out and run off by bigger War Mages. There was usually something going on.
This might be a problem much bigger then outside of the WM guild though...

That spot used to be a fun place to hang out. Now it's boring, quiet, and just a script paradise where you can find a good TM class. More glass cannon Warrior Mages in the making.
I think the wards should be turned off just to see how it goes. It's understandable for Empaths, or Traders, or Bards (sorry guys), but I think the wards are unintentionally making this guild look like pansies.

eh i'd say it's about half wm's there and half other guilds, usually a lot of moonies, followed by bards, clerics, and the occassional barb.
mostly they're there for the target classes that seems to last weeks(seriously i log out and back in and no matter the time of day i'm in the same class).
but yeah I ask the elemental about teaching, and usually the people in there are scripting, though many to seem to be awake. The old tower is usualy worse, but it seems to have gotten better about having people awake.
We've got a lot of neat rooms(well could be neater) in the guild, and I can understand going to a certain elemental room to do your training/meditating/scripting... though I think there's only 2 non-safe rooms in the guild.
as for outside, if it was no longer warded, would people still gather there? would people still come in grab a group of people and dump them places, or would they just get to the killing?
Maybe if Gauthus came out or sent an elemental or other minion out once in awhile to look around and maybe kick some ass, smack around the less attentive mages... or oh maybe a nifty area effect like shard but less lethal... oh those war mages are at it again, a gust of wind/shockwave from a large explosion/rolling waves of earth/a sudden tidal wave from nowhere blows you tumbling south... or maybe some rule if you don't move from the room in 2 hours some kind of mana parasite from the bog gets you, and in 6 hours kills you unless you move...
and is the anti locate thing a part of the ward? or is that just cause the moonie have the anti familiar ward outside their guild?
>>This might be a problem much bigger then outside of the WM guild though...
i see it more so in hunting safe spots, people with similiar names(one's a cleric and one's an empath) and they're never responsive cept for certain deaders/injured groups, they're not always teaching though, but still.

>>This might be a problem much bigger then outside of the WM guild though...
i see it more so in hunting safe spots, people with similiar names(one's a cleric and one's an empath) and they're never responsive cept for certain deaders/injured groups, they're not always teaching though, but still.

I don't really have an issue with people being non responsive, what i was referring to is the general lack of social interaction in DR outside of some sort of planned event. I'm not saying that taking off the wards in the WM guild would fix this but it might make things a tad bit interesting in that location.

Could city justice be extended to that area then? I envision a scenario where anyone can steal from anybody there, and not risk catching an axe or a fireball to the face for doing so, because stealing would be allowed but combat would not.
At least this way, a potential victim could go get the felony stealing hammer dropped, and chuckle at the multi-gold fine mr. or mrs. pickpocket winds up with.

<<I think the wards should be turned off just to see how it goes. It's understandable for Empaths, or Traders, or Bards (sorry guys), but I think the wards are unintentionally making this guild look like pansies.
The bard guild isn't non-combat. It just has a warded portal blocking access to unaccompanied non-bards. Only the GL's room is non-combat (and possibly the library?) but that's the norm.
As for a non-combat ward being understandable for Bards... ummm why?
