It's so annoying that I can't affect the engagement status of other people despite throwing the subject of their melee hither and yon. It'd be nice if I had actual crowd control.

It'd be nice if I could PW critters off of people, in particular :(

That's a combat system problem I think, in the engagement logic, because you can:
>You shove a sprite across the room and it lands in a tumbling heap.
It'll move from melee to ranged on you but whom ever else it's engaged with will remain at where ever they were before.
---
If there were no cost or sacrifice involved, there wouldn't be any benefits worth learning, and the entire system would be pointless. --GM Wythor

This is very doable, in a limited fashion. In other words the spell could push a critter away from someone it was facing, but not someone it wasn't facing.
>>That's a combat system problem I think, in the engagement logic
It's more an issue of resources. Since everyone's engagement range is relative to everyone else's, we would have to look at every single player and critter in the room to see how far away they are from this particular target, and adjust each engagement value separately. All that computation and adjustment takes time, for limited returns.

What goes up
is futile --

That would be useful and sensible. I don't imagine why I would care about a critter's engagement status with something it wasn't facing.
It's just very obnoxious to blow something back from me and... not the dude they're wailing on.

Doesn't ring of spears do this? Person is dancing with two, third comes in, gets to melee, person starts getting hit, person tries to retreat but can't, you drop ROS on them, spears shoot up, everything at melee with them is shoved out or impaled on the spikes.
Isn't that how it works? I thought that was so, and pondered acquiring it. Never got to play around when it was on preview.

I have yet to see a sucessful cast at another person when using that spell, when they are in melee, even with critters as low as Sand Sprites. It works great when I cast it at myself, but others, nothing happens.
