Well, the paladins want it, why not? on 06/21/2003 02:52 AM CDT

Ok, the paladins hate YS. That's a given, and they've compared it to the mythical Glyph of This Will Make The Warmages Whine that would uberpower their spells based on armor skill. I figure that would make a damn good enchantment.

But, to make it even closer to the reverse of YS that they seem to want, perhaps simply make the armor add X mana to a mage's spell, based on the quality of the enchantment and the mage's armor skill. To put it in magic theory terms (you can ignore this part if you don't like IC rationalizations)

The mage puts power lines such as those found on runestones into the armor. These powerlines, as we know, force mana through them. As the mana lines are already bound to the mage and bending as they move, creating Spell Juice, anytime the mage opens a pattern the Spell Juice created by their movement is fired into the matrix, with no cost to the mage's attunement. Now, we all know mana doesn't like to move. Therefore as one gets more skilled in their armor and moves more easily within it, the mana streams also become easier to bend for the mage, thus more Spell Juice is generated.

So it's weak reasoning, big deal. Makes a lot more sense than a glyph. Of course this would be available to everyone.

On this same prinicipal, one could also make it give an MR boost because the mana lines are being forced into those positions and are harder to move.

Steel.
