"Rigby (I think) mentioned not too long ago (within the last week) a nice little spoiler regarding the nature of enchantment effects. It came down to something along the lines of "War Magi get combat enchantments, Moon Magi get utility enchantments, and Clerics get self-enhancing enchantments." That's a bit vague, but I don't doubt that you can dig up his post. It's only a week or so old.

I have looked and looked for the referenced post- any idea where it is? As a cleric I would love to get a hint at what may be in store for our guild.

thanks

I'm pretty sure it was in a WM folder. Familiars, I believe.

Yep. Posts 3225 and 3235 in Familiars:

>>>(barring Rigby posting that we would be allowed a limited number of utility enchantments)<<<

The initial Moon Mage Enchantment system has one weapon enchantment slated, permanent moonblades. I'd like to see the Warrior Mage Enchantment system do the reverse, with a single equally nice "utility" enchantment. Seems to lend a sense of balance and focus when comparing the two enchantment systems.

There have been a couple of Warrior Mage Enchantment system proposals floating around since the days when Atrathien held the guild. I don't know what priority Valdrik will want to place on it. He and I haven't really firmed anything up regarding it. I'll be pushing for the cool and useful weapon enchantments; those of you who've seen the icy-blade from Corik's will have a rough idea of one of the more modest weapon enchantment ideas I'd like to see Warrior Mages able to do.

>>>[the area-specific labs ideas]<<<

Well, here's something to consider: An enchantment system that is more focused on traveling to specific locales to work on (such as how the forging system requires being in a forge) has very different advantages and disadvantages than a system oriented towards enchantments that can be done anywhere (though still taking considerable effort and likely limited by time, etc). I'm NOT saying one is better than the other, I'm just tossing in a random thought for your brainstorming.

I'd briefly referenced Cleric Enchanting at one of the Simucons: Moon Mages focus on utility item enchantments. Warrior Mages would focus on combat item enchantments. Clerics would focus on enchanting the characters themselves. When I said this, I remember it prompted someone (Candidius, I think?) to say, "Wow, a person with all three types of enchantments is going to be a force to be reckoned with."

Aside from that, we're just not ready to release info on what Cleric enchanting will entail (particularly in this folder). And it's far too early to worry about it in any case.
