Hey everyone.
You may have noticed that I did not post anything for a long time, but that I've posted a few things recently. I believe you all deserve an explanation.
In July I took a major step toward my personal future and enrolled in college. Since the beginning of August I've been reorganizing my life around classes and my regular full-time job. Until recently I didn't have much time for DragonRealms. I considered taking a leave of absence, but felt I could still contribute. I've worked on a few things behind the scenes, but by and large I haven't been able to focus much on guild projects.
I have recently settled into college life and, through various organizational processes, I am now able to devote more time to DragonRealms. Due to time constraints, however, I will not have the excess development time I enjoyed in the past. I will not be using the message boards for discourse nearly as much as I used to. I would rather use that time for development. Going forward my posts will be strictly informative or for the purposes of information gathering. I will not be speculating about new projects or timelines; when something new is about to be released, I will inform you.
Because my development time is limited, I have had to organize priorities and, perhaps, plan for a future where I am no longer working on DragonRealms. To this end my focus is on completing projects rather than starting new ones. Any new projects will be small and geared toward generating the most impact for the least amount of development effort (i.e. quality of life improvements).
Due to the complexity of projects such as targeted magic, the Sentinels, Blackfire, and familiars, I have discarded schedules and timeframes in favor of working on them as I find extra time. The list above is the approximate priority I have established. Anything not on the list (e.g. new cantrips or aethereal pathways) will be pushed back until I have cleared off space in my schedule. Even then I will not be adding anything new to my workload until I am sure I am able to continue developing for the game.
One thing I always disliked about the 'revolving door' nature of the GM position is the massive amount of unfinished projects left behind. I do not want to leave the guild with a legacy of broken promises and incomplete development. If and when it is time for me to move on, I want to be able to do so with a clear conscience and the knowledge that the next person in line for Guild Advocate can start with a clean slate and fresh ideas.
Thanks for reading,
- GM Wythor
