Summoning training on 08/27/2015 09:49 PM CDT
What are people doing on the higher end to move this? I'm at 668 and it takes FOREVER to get the skill up to locked using the SUMMON ADMITTANCE and a pathway out of combat now. Like if I research something and summon admittance whole time which is like 8 minutes I can only get it to about 15-18/34.
Any tips would be great. I do run pathways in combat also but not the best way it seems keeping it charged and going with TM.

so every 90 seconds you are sitting down in combat?
usually i have to fight things at level to get debil/TM to move, sitting down seems risky at level
maybe it isn't
I'll give it a try

A Maelshyvean shadow beast slows long enough to deeply inhale some of the swirling shadows surrounding it. After a moment, it sighs with great releif and blackness oozes from its ears and nostrils.

Just pointing out that 18/34 in 8 minutes is not particularly outside the realm of reasonableness. Especially since Summoning exp is something that can easily be maintained at some level of learning both in and out of combat.

So you are using summon admittance and then using pathways to drain?
Have you tried using elemental weapons? You have to "summon weapon", then RELEASE it, and you can summon again for exp. If you try to summon when the weapon is already in your hand, you won't get exp the second time.

getting to 18/34 is more then 8 minutes though. I meant if I summon admittance and run a pathway for 8 minutes while I research some other magic skill then by the time the pathway pulses my charge away. Should have been more specific.
>Have you tried using elemental weapons?
Not using up spell slots on these. Personally don't feel the cost is worth it.
Anyone toss Domains in the equation? Didn't know if those added some extra experience.

You've got a lot of options. Good advice being given ITT.
Training in combat, the way to go is to charge up to full, run your cheapest pathway (the first one in your PATH LIST that is of your aligned element), and cast TM/Debil (or just debil. That works fine) from the book of your aligned element to keep your charge up. If you hit the timing consistently, casting every 14-20 seconds or so, you should be able to keep your charge up while you're hunting. You can throw in a summon admittance now and then to top up if you need to. Lay down a Thunderclap or drop the room with Frostbite or whatever you have, just before you summon admittance, if you want that extra protection. Otherwise as long as your timing is tight (and depending what you're hunting) you can back up to missile, summon, and be back on your feet before anything can be at melee and attack.
If you add a Domain to that your spells will generate double charge and you can be lazy with the timing. I train in combat by throwing up an Earth domain and alternating Anther's/Tremor while I run Pathway Power (I'm Earth aligned). I never need to summon admittance while I'm in combat.
There are some nuances you can take advantage of when you train. One is that the more difficult Pathways will use more charge and also teach better. So if you just want to dump as much Summoning experience as possible, run the last pathway you have from your aligned element and just top up more often.
You can also take advantage of summoning a weapon - which dumps a nice chunk of exp on a timer - without having any of the metaspells. Just SUMMON WEAPON to get the basic one and break or drop it. Wait awhile (not sure how long - a couple minutes?) and do it again as you're going about your day.
Anyway, hope all that helped.

You don't have to spend any spell slots for the base SUMMON WEAPON.
I just tested with path secrecy up and a script (looped summon admit x 3 then summon weapon, break it and start over) and was able to mind lock at around 12 minutes. This is with 580 ranks and no weapon meta spells. Going to try it with 2x summon admit's between weapon summoning later to see if it can get any faster.

This looks like best option. I'm fire aligned so MOA/FB in combat can keep charge going easily. Was just the time taking to get to high mindstate and only getting like 0.07 each time I got lazy and let it drain charge completely.

Just updated my script as well with the information. Last time I was checking the exp for summoning a weapon, it didn't seem that great. However, the 3x summon admit, Pathway Defend (earth aligned), summon/break weapon method took me from 11 minutes old method to 7 minutes now. I stop at 30/34 myself. Thanks for this discussion.

>> Works great. Didn't realize SUMMON WEAPON taught well. So 3x summon adm, using Pathway Conserve, summon weapon, break, repeat.
>> Have it set to stop at 32/34 since it'll keep draining and stay locked.
>> Appreciate the tip!
No problem!
Don't forget you can align earth for double the fun!
