High end spell/ability revolving around the Storm Mage type titles. Requirements would be a knowledge of X number of air, water, and electricity spells, raincloud cantrip, 2 spell slots, maybe a little quest, and anything else to make it an upper lever thing.

The first part will be a spell you can learn from any of the guild leaders which controls magic weather. It might have some little uses like being a magical umbrella to keep your spellbook dry in the rain. But, it's main use involves the next step.

The mage travels down to Shard and uses the first spell to capture and calm a small part of the storm over Stormwill Tower. However, this binds the storm's spell matrix to the mage. This creates a penalty to all fire and earth spells the mage would cast from that point on. Melear then teaches the mage the second spell.

This second spell allows the mage to reform that small part of the storm to do his/her will. It forms a dark thundercloud around them which gives a bonus to air, water, and electric spells. Through interaction with the cloud it will launch attacks at given targets. It can be set to engage a single target on it's own. Or, it can be set loose to strike at anything in the room.

The storm does not get weaker with time. Actually, it gets stronger the longer it is active. But, if left out for too long it will start to attack anyone nearby and eventually the controlling mage themselves. Local authorities don't like this and will treat it like Frost Bite in city limits. The mage must use the first spell to remove the active thundercloud. A timer is then set. If the storm is recalled too soon it keeps its former strength and can begin attacking the mage.

If the mage dies the cloud will hang around and protect them until they depart. If the mage gets killed by the storm when it starts to go out of control then it will attack anyone who tries to drag the mage. It is possible for another mage the close down the thundercloud using the first spell (Will vs. Will normally unless the one mage is dead).

The storm has a personality. There should be some fluff verbs and some fun messaging. It actually gets attached to the mage as it follows them around. When you go inside the storm waits outside but starts to get...unhappy. Messaging shows it getting more violent. If inside too long it could kick up a whirlwind and try to suck the mage back outside. Also, if left alone for too long the storm gets miffed and starts ignoring the mage, being slow to follow, not obeying commands, and generally sulking around. After a short time it starts obeying commands again.

It could also if you die go looking for anyone you're bonded to. (What boy? Timmy fell down the Greater Fist?)

A larger RP that could revolve around this is actively trying to remove the storm over Storwill for good. After a set number of mages pulls their personal thundercloud out, the storm will be gone for good. No one else can get the ability... kinda.

The spell matrix can be passed to someone else. Since a mage can use the first spell to close down another mages thundercloud they can also through some process be given the full spell matrix. This removes the fire/earth penalty from mage#1. Mage#1 can be given the spell back or from another mage but they can not pull it from the Stormwill storm again.

Interesting. Most of my war mages tend toward fire, but there are a couple I'm training toward air/aether/water.

Very cool idea. Realistically though some of the stuff sounds a little OP. Like the getting stronger over time, I seriously doubt anything like this will ever happen despite the drawbacks.

I really like the idea of doing some type of quest to improve your affinity to a certain element at the cost of another element. It's a much better idea than the elemental attunement because it's a conscious choice rather than it being forced upon you.
