Neither expected nor wanted to see. Over the past decade I've seen a number of advocates/gms come and go. I rarely comment, mostly because I come and go enough myself that I don't get to spend enough time watching the developments to feel I can give honest criticism. You've shown during your time as advocate an intellectual understanding of the guild, of dragonrealms magic, that redefined and propelled us further than I've seen in a long long time. Thanks for making my favorite game even more favoriter. It's hard to really express how much I've admired your work.

Well our going to leave a hole in your wake one way or another Wythor. You've been a good GM but its not like I didn't see it coming

This is not an issue, Z has already had the operation to convert himself into a digital entity, he no longer needs obnoxious organic processes.

Okay. I totally get why ya leaving. But it sure as heck doesn't make it any easier to accept ya left. I have played this game over 10 years, my main character being a warmie from day one. You were the best thing that ever happened to this guild and it is heartbreaking to see you go. I hope for your quick return.
All that being said, I wish you luck and happiness as you move on with life.

Necromancers already have it, so transferring it to them would be difficult!
Right now the Moon Mage place on the "combat pet totem pole" is the part that's sunk into the earth to lower the pole's center of gravity.

>Speaking of, what are your plans Zeyurn?<
Largely my plans are to shepherd Warrior Mages through Magic 3.0 and ensure they have a solid ability package and get a spell or two out of the deal, while we look for somebody who's suited to take the reins on a permanent basis.
We're finalizing what Magic 3.0 is going to mean for the guilds and their existing spells, at which point I'll be discussing that on the boards to get feedback and help prepare people for how they'll want to focus their training / stats / spell picks.
The quick analysis of Warrior Mage spells from me is that I'd like to see less restrictions on spells and when they can be used, and make sure that you stop having so many spells you grow out of primary uses for.

Can we have some more spells that go Boom and make things go splat PLEASE PLEASE!
oh wait...how about KABOOOSPLAT!
In all seriousness though...
Good luck Wythor, you will be missed, just remember DR isnt so much of a game as it is an electronic form of Heroin...you can try and scale back but you will end up getting that fix once more and be back in it.
Good luck Zeyurn while you try and keep us under control in the interim. I will do my best to behave.

>> So... Sentinel update?
Alright, I've looked all over for info on these Sentinels, but I can't find anything. Every time I hear the word Sentinel, I get the image of those giant, flying, laser-beam shooting robots from X-men stuck in my head. Personally, I think that would be awesome if WM's could control those in DR. Forget familiars... I'd get two or three of these flying Sentinels of mass destruction and just go nuts blowing everything up. After all, there would be no adamantium-clawed mutants to stop us. Muah ha ha!
http://www.fresh99.com/images/oversizedpeople/uxmen142.jpg
But coming back to reality, I have to finally ask the question:
What are these Sentinels that keep getting mentioned?
Any info would be appreciated because I really have no idea. Thanks!
P.S. Here's to hoping! http://favoritetoons.com/wallpaper-xmen_1024x768-1.jpg

Re: The Post on 07/27/2010 02:20 PM CDT
The Sentinels are a pair of giant towers/lighthouses - one marked with the symbol of the Warrior Mage Guild and the other marked with the symbol of the Bard Guild - that guard the gates to Aesry Surlaenis'a at the top of the mountain and significantly contribute to the overall defense of the island. When opened, they will each be the local guildhall for its respective guild. I believe part of the delay is their sheer size, as one former GM compared them to "a small city" in scale.

I believe there was mention of hunting grounds as well.

Re: The Post on 07/27/2010 03:19 PM CDT
I still always pictures giant statue lighthouses taht could maybe move- like at the entrance to a fjord, even though I know they're just towers on the side of an island.
I remember ours supposed to having warrior mage only accessible hunting grounds, i guess with nifty stuff like you might've seen in the later quests, possibly a magic-ish elemental entrance. I could be wrong. Though the Riverhaven Bard Leader said the work toward opening the Sentinels was going along nicely when the Leaders were initially planning the Stuffed to the Guilds Fest.
Between the gates like halfway up the Aesry stairs I believe:
Silvery-white light flashes from the top of the dark grey tower, serving as a beacon for sailors bringing their ships into the harbor. Chiseled into the side of the tower is the crest of the Warrior Mage guild: a wolf's head shrouded by an aura of flame over twin crossed swords. The vigilance of the Warrior Mages, and their tenacity in defending the island, has earned their tower the title of Sentinel.

Silvery-blue light flashes from the top of the white tower, serving as a beacon for sailors bringing their ships into the harbor. Chiseled into the side of the tower is the crest of the Bardic guild: a wren perched upon a fisted gauntlet over a lute.
history of the WM guild v2:
About thirty years after Dzree began her reign (around 160 BL) that the Warrior Mages started to openly defy the Dragon Priests. In an attempt to defend Surlaenis Island, the Warrior Mages and Bardic allies manned the Sentinels where the Dragon Priest armies were stopped, thereby protecting the bards and the Ru'atin Peri'el from the savagery of the hordes.
The Warrior Mage Guild was not openly blamed for the defeat at the Sentinels, but those Warrior Mages who had defended it were named traitors and sentenced to death. The Warrior Mage Guild was watched even closer than it had been before, and was forced to lie low until Dzree had been done in by Sithsia's self- fulfilling prophecy.
From Aesry Surlae Elanthipedia desc:
After the fall of the Empire, much of Qi fell into chaos and piracy became rampant. The largest and boldest of the freebooters would even dare to raid inland upon the islands, and the rich city of Aesry Surlaenis'a was one of their targets. Frustrated, the most prominent families of the island turned to the Warrior Mage guild for assistance in 205 BL. A year later, construction was begun on the Grey Tower, followed by the White Tower some twenty-five years later. Built to protect the single pass leading to the interior of the island, the towers are jointly known today as the Sentinels.
The construction of the Sentinels was extremely fortuitous, as the Dragon Priests invaded Surlaenis in 160 BL. After landing, they found themselves faced with the final vestiges of Ring Clan, who were wiped out in a three day battle that slowly moved up the outer slopes to the pass that led to the interior. The Dragon Priests finally reached the Sentinels, but they could not force a passage beyond them, so they laid siege at the pass; a siege that would last for one hundred and sixty years. Cunning strategies would be attempted by both sides to break the stalemate and great battles would be fought in attempts to dislodge either force, but nothing would answer.
