So...this isn't really just a warmie suggestion. I'm just not creative enough to think of ways for it to apply to non-magic guilds.
Spells over time, such that you charge an orb with mana, or experience or whatever else... And you call on a spell that you've spent a ridiculous amount of time preparing.
Something to level the playing field I guess...at least at the expense of a (insert time here [I was partial to a month]) worth of charging.
JoeNerdGod begins to advance on you!
>invoke zoluren lightning rod
A blazing bolt from Firulf's bum tears through JoeNerdGod, shorting out his bowl control and forcing him to relinquish his breathing token.
>JoeNerdGod was just struck down!
You hear the ghostly voice of JoeNerdGod say, "Well...I hope you enjoyed that. I plan on taking the month you spent charging that out of your hide."
/flee
I think a extremely moderated "Gun" would do wonders for the pvp/event interaction of people who either are NEW to the game or not circle/combat chasers.
If they REALLY want to kill you once...they can. Just gotta deal with consent like everyone else.
Would also put a nice check on mean people. "Well...I can steal a room full of gems...but is this guy gonna go lightning rod aggro on me?"
Make it one per account too...or premies will be melting everyone.

Yes, a once a month no skill check kill. Only thing you need is persistence and a little gumption.
Do you REALLY want to be 'turn ballista to self' for your only death?
How much fun is it to be invincible? If someone wants to charge a spell a month...or get 19 people to charge for a month to chain kill me...I'm so groovy with that I can't even express it.
I can't imagine wanting to be untouchable. Where's the fun?
You guys in TF would know better though. Have much conflict over there?

>>Better way to spend the month of charging: Train.
For real...a month isn't going to change the skill difference between me and some 30th circle. Even a year doesn't change some stuff.
This isn't on behalf of the lowbies any more than it's on behalf of the ridiculously high and bored people. Which I hope to be one of eventually.
40 circle 10 people screaming for my blood doesn't intimidate me right now. It should.
It should intimidate anyone.

I hope that you think this game is RP based more than skill based. I can't argue my point otherwise.
You can watch numbers rise all you want. If that floats your boat, I can understand you not understanding.
Disputing it is just your testosterone talking.
"I trained more! They shouldn't be able to touch me!"
Again, it's the RP perspective but you've gotta admit. The removal of skill from killing has been the deciding factor in many wars.

I WANT the RP of 40 10ths or 10 40s wanting my blood.
It's not a matter of being the best. It's just about having fun. You can't have fun being a god and just watching the numbers rise slower.

I don't see how your suggestion correlates with your ability to have fun or not have fun. You can choose to have fun however you like.
<<I WANT the RP of 40 10ths or 10 40s wanting my blood.>>
Ok... So, lower your stances. Impose penalties on yourself. Go at it.
In a skill/stat-based game, it does not make sense to have 40 level 10th circle characters imposing a strong force against someone who is exceedingly beyond them defensively. Stats and skills are part of role-playing your character even though you (general case of you here) may wish to put your head in the sand about it.

I have to agree with Red here. Even Bruce Lee reincarnated isn't gonna just shrug off 10 mall security guards charging at him. He may still win, but he wont' be laying prone, asleep, and still dodge all the punches.
I disagree the method in achieving this that was proposed by the OP, though. I made a suggestion on the Paladin's boards with similar intent but IMO much more realistic/feasible.

I could agree that the game is more skill based if it was more like final fantasy. A story only advanced by your ability to advance. It's not.
If you don't create your own story from 1st circle to 100th there's no story given to you as a standby.

I've tried that. Ask people that have had ANY conflict with me. I don't mess with people that CAN'T kill me.
I could set my evasion and shield to 0 but I'd rather be the character I trained and encourage the people around me to interact accordingly.
I don't want to 'allow' people to do something to me. That's once in a blue moon you can find interaction like that. They should have the choice and I should discover THEM, not vice versa.

Your arguments make no sense. There is no story but what you make of it, it does not require a story to advance. It's a skill based game that encourages RP but does not require it, because of this it is more of a skill based game than an RPG
Cute verbs and speaking from hiding are excellent ways to catch a lightning bolt in the face regardless of mystical ninja abilities.

<<I don't want to 'allow' people to do something to me. That's once in a blue moon you can find interaction like that. They should have the choice and I should discover THEM, not vice versa.>>
Just lower your stances, increase your encumberance, place your last combat maneuver to LUNGE on a consistent basis. You'll do fine and accomplish your goal of having 40 10th circle characters have the opportunity to get your blood. My guess is that you need to RP your character to be annoying, but my first impression is that you've uncovered that personality trait in your character.
<<I could set my evasion and shield to 0 but I'd rather be the character I trained and encourage the people around me to interact accordingly.>>
So you want to be the character you trained and to interact accordingly - wow, that's completely different then what you said a few minutes ago based on your suggestion. Change of heart?

>>There is no story but what you make of it, it does not require a story to advance.
Those are mutually exclusive. If you don't RP while advancing then this obviously doesn't apply to your faceless toon. There's no such thing as training without goals. Goals in THIS game are RP oriented. Well...that or you get lockouts, called a snert, etc.
You embrace the training only because it gives you opportunity to RP further.
Time spent is definitely lopsided but come on...you can't do all that training and not WANT some interaction afterwards.
That's all secondary. You guys are really worried about people being able to kill you once a month with minimal skill check and after a substantial investment of time?
This was worth it just to find out who I shouldn't dink around with.

I'm not an RPer. I don't RP, I don't play this game to RP. I have goals but they're not RP related. It's not required for this game. I just stay in genre if I'm playing prime. I can interact with people without RPing, most of the time I don't though. Your arguments are flimsy at best.

I don't want to be a tenth circle in a group of 40 people.
I trained. I want to be the mook they're angry at. I want to be a 100th circle rabbit, worried about which of their idiots will spend the bolt on me.
I don't want them to be an impudent bunch of people hoping that I'm a decent enough Rper to 'play along.' I want them to be stronger for their alliance. Stronger for having the will, despite their circle/skill and obviously inferior combat superiority, to kill me.

Tell me, what do you seek when you log into Prime over TF? You interact with people. Like it or not, that's Roleplay. Casual, light, it is still RP. Plat is for the hardcore RP'ers who want closer-knit and deeper interactions, but Prime is where people enjoy having large number of playres to interact with.

It sounds to me like you just want attention. Undermining the entire basis of the combat system is not the way to go about this.
I can see the angry mob argument, but that's more of an MO issue.

Let me see if I cannot put this to rest. I haven't read the whole thread in any serious detail, but I can assure you that the chances of getting an "I Win" button that will cause an uncontested death for any players is unlikely at best. It is something the current staff have been working very hard to remove when it is either completely uncontested or uses a contest other than a balanced skill based check.
Personally, I don't care if it is something you have to charge non-stop 24/7 for a full year to make use of. It just plain isn't something I could possibly approve of for any guild in any situation. Warrior mages will simply have to reconcile themselves to having some of the best TM attacks out there as well as a slew of boosts and disablers. Or not as each player sees fit.
