Regarding all this talk about keeping target in level with combat...
My opinion on this is pretty negative. Most of my tdp's are spent raising my mentals, and agility. Discipline mostly to aid in magic, and agility so i can hit the critters. As we circle into the more intermediate levels (25's - 30's), i find having to spend more tdp's on agility and discipline so that i can actually hit the critters that my defense skills can handle. So what's left from my tdp's after training up my disc and agil, goes towards EITHER reflex or agility or stamina or strength (don't even get me started on that). we obviously can't have our cake and eat it too. So, either my target suffers or my combat suffers. By applying the logic of "balancing" combat and target, i can therefore assume that that tactic isn't even a feasible option. I think we're focusing on the wrong issue here. But what do i know, i'm just a girl.

It's a feasible option. If you don't make it a feasible option in the lower levels, once you reach the mid levels, you'll spend most of your time backtraining defenses so you can hunt critters that'll train your TM.
The best warrior mages IMHO are those who started balancing their offenses/defenses in the lower levels and kept up with it throughout their lives. One of the reasons why I say this is because these warrior mages are the ones I wouldn't want to pick a fight with. The other reason I say that is because these are the ones who can stand toe to toe with 3-4 critters (or more) at their level and not worry about what's going to happen when they run out of mana.
