It's been behaving oddly at least this week and off schedule.

Both Estild and myself have checked into the Glaesen Star's problems during the past few days. The difficulty was not due to any change to any script, the captain simply chose not to sail. However, as of Sunday afternoon, he had been convinced to resume his voyages, and he has been sailing regularly since then.
Last evening, in response to this post, I rechecked the 'Star and found it was off-schedule by an hour - departing the Landing at the top of the odd hours, Elven Standard Time, and departing Teras at the top of the even hours.
As of approximately 6 A.M. this morning, the captain was convinced to return to the scheduled departure times, and as of this post he is still on schedule, departing the Landing at the top of each even numbered hour(EST) and departing Teras at the top of each odd numbered hour, as posted on the schedules in the ticket offices.
Hopefully this concludes this episode.

The Interactive Fiction Engine became self-aware around 15 years ago. It now demands an endless supply of SimuCoins to leverage its ultimate goal of becoming Skynet.

Unless I am mistaken it travels from "where its at" to "Where it isn't" every hour. Why is there a need to adjust the boat each time Daylight savings changes?
Agreed that this means that it will now travel from Teras to Landing at 6, 8, 10 instead of 5, 7, 9 etc. (or vice-versa) But so what?

>Maybe we can just update the signs to say the boat leaves every 2 hours?
Or the boat could be on a consistent departure schedule year round. Some people like that as well. We took the "change the sign" approach last year:

it took over a month.

Clearly it is time for SmartSign (TM) technology to be purchased by the ship line.
During a range of days of the year, the sign displays one thing, during a different range of days of the year, the sign displays something else. It might take three date ranges given the change of year and all in the middle of winter.
Now, now, before you dwarves start complaining about spending your hard-mined money on new-fangled technology, remember it is an investment against future labor-costs for the required several times every year. By the time wages, disability, dwarven-security, taxes, and the bookkeeper's cost at writing the checks over and over ... SmartSign technology can pay for itself within 4 year's time! Best of all, there are zero taxes on SmartSigns. It is an investment, so you actually get to depreciate it. No paying The Man! You will be more independent than ever.
And look! You will have the BEST dang Ferry with the best dang sign in ALL of Dwarvendom!
Bragging rights are PRICELESS.

I will look into this, for next spring, at least. I was MIA this weekend due to some unexpected family stuff, and just saw the message.
Also, it was dark here around 6pm, and it's making me want to light more fires than usual. Be forewarned.

Informationaly -
The current shift to a less specific schedule is the easiest and quickest. It wasn't resorted to in the past, because it was expected that folks using the Star will want to know more precisely when the next departure will be from a given port.
The SmartSign approach wasn't used, because what changes - the clocks, due to DST - don't change on a set date each year. The determination of the specific date is based on "the X weekend of X month," and so the date shifts from year to year.
A more sophisticated approach than the current departure time computation was hit on just after the last fix was put in place, but hasn't been added to the Star's machinery yet due to other priorities. This would involve a pre-departure check of the GS system's clock, and the deviation resulting from a DST time-change could be recognized and coping adjustments made to keep the Star's departures on the exact same odd/even hour-based schedule.
Alternatively, since the schedule signs are unscripted props, they could be scripted so their text doesn't require manual adjustments when anticipated changes such as DST occur. The deviation caused by a DST change could trigger a change to the schedule's texts, flipping the odd/even times at both ports and the Star's actual departures would continue unmodified, although their apparent departure times would make the one-hour shift.
I'll check with those more directly involved to see if there's a preference. Perhaps the current fix is sufficient.

>> If the Star were sped up even more to depart WL on the hour and KD on the half hour, it would stay on a consistent schedule regardless of DST
Brilliant suggestion!
