I haven't forged anything for a bit, I figured I'd get back in there and try not to go crazy.

I hadn't crafted a perfect longsword yet, so I went at the task. Using any rhimar/zochar/gornar/drakar I had tucked into lockers. These metals require 4 minutes a hammer session.

Each longsword with these metals requires 5 pounds.

I go until I have at minimum 11 best blades.

Any longsword that resulted in a minor failure and required the slab to be scribed again was too small (4 pounds now) so I would cut that slab into 2 - 2lb pieces and hammer out dagger blades.

I hammered out 140 longsword blades. Ended with 8 perfect blades.
I hammered out 26 dagger blades. Ended with 3 perfect blades.

Longswords take 5 hammer sessions each. So 140 blades at 20 minutes = 2800 total minutes.

Daggers take 2 hammer sessions each. So 26 blades at 8 minutes = 208 minutes

I then spent 6 full hours (360 minutes) grinding out best hilts.

2800 + 208 + 360 = 3368 minutes (or 56.13 hours)

166 total blades hammered out for 11 perfect means roughly 6.6% chance to see a perfect blade.

After a gift of eonake and 12 minutes later I was left with a perfect drakar and a perfect gornar longsword.

So, nearly 57 hours for two perfect blades....

I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with me.

Uh huh.

I have 29 perfect blades made since 2002.
I'll not make an attempt at computing the number of hours.

Here are the ones I can recall off the top of my head that I've made perfect:

2 mau1s
1 dagger
5 short-swords
4 handaxes
1 flamberge
4 quarterstaffs
4 falchions
2 longswords
1 spikestar

That's probably all, maybe one or two more I can't recall. Lots of time spent at the forge.
