I have recently had occasion to move up and start mashing on some of the creatures in the Pinefar slash Aenatumgana neck of the woods. (Nothing in the Rift, just out on the cold mountainous area.) And succeeded in getting bowled down the side of the mountain in an avalanche on the first hunt, too!
However, it seems like there are some natural (???) groupings of creatures up here:
- undead (hence my '???' comment...), all of whom I am currently just walking past because they're only a segment;
- living creatures like mammoths or sabre-tooth tigers, whom I enjoy running into and getting to kill; and
- a whole great heaping helping of 'cold' creatures, like ice golems or glacei [in 2 flavors] or ice elementals [in 2 flavors, one so rare that I haven't seen it yet].
And of course, being a monk, I am given the opportunity to have BOTH my hands AND my feet be in contact with freezing cold equipment, and get wounded thereby.
That whole message about "some gloves would have been handy" doesn't exactly warm my heart, given that my UAC hand equipage is, in fact, "gloves".
.
So here's my question:
What the heck--if anything--helps with this?
And I don't really want to build a campfire and just stand in one room. That way lies boredom.
Getting drakar-lined Underoos? Using equipment with fire flares?
What's up?
.
Thanks, all!

<Getting drakar-lined Underoos?>
Chestnuts roasting in yer underpants... Aenatumgana winds nipping at your nose... Bawdy limericks being sung by a gnome... And elves dressed up like half-a-lings!
Starchitin, the OG
A severed gnomish hand crawls in on its fingertips and makes a rude gesture before quickly decaying and rotting into dust. A gust of wind quickly scatters the dust.

You need the opposite flare type on your gloves/boots to avoid getting injured on punch/kick i.e. fire flaring for Pinefar and cold flaring when you go to Teras. Don't go to the Confluence.
You need herbs (or full ipower, or a pocket empath) for looting the glacei. (I regard glacei as a way of transmuting ambrominas into gems)

I was hoping that the answer lay in the flares; thanks!
So some of the "Realm Flaring" items will be just perfect, for either of those extremes (cold in the North, fire on Teras), correct?
What's Inner Power do? <read GSWiki> Huh. Now if I can just find a way to pony up 30 ranks of CMan....
