Ogres have been updated to the Basic Critter System (BCS). This update includes adding some new tricks along with new messaging. Thanks to former GM Despil for most of the initial work on this.

%&$#@....I don't have a level 15 character to poke around in large ogres with so I can update my guide properly....
Please tell me the ones in RR still drop their weapons after a little bit...

Ok, poked around large ogres in RR with my level 23 monk...
Considering the level difference and my monk's training (3x dodging, 2x PF, 1x CM and Perception), their new (to them) tackle maneuver seems to be a bit over powered.
Not sure how I'm gonna recommend like-level folk tackle this area going forward (pun completely unintentional)... the main thing that made them huntable for quite a few professions/builds was that they ditched their weapons eventually. Between retaining such heavy weapons and this new ability, they feel more like level 25-30 critter design then level 15.
I'm also concerned about anyone trying to do bounties for greater orcs are going to stand a chance in there now, Large Ogres are def going to pwn level 8 characters with these changes. Feels a bit like the Troll Lair with level 17 hill trolls and level 21 cave bears lower levels can't hunt cause of the level 27 troll chieftains that'll wipe the floor with them.... and higher levels having a hard time learning there cause they constantly have to deal with the two critters they can barely learn from sucking up resources and preventing chieftains from spawning. Not saying the ogres shouldn't have been put on BCS, but this area needs some tweaking as a result, maybe either the ogres or the orcs should be replaced with something closer in level to the one that stays in the Armory (or maybe one or the other could replace the kobolds in the Alchemist's).

CML is not SMR. You have to train a CML maneuver if you want decent defence against it. Rule of thumb 1 rank tackle = 5 ranks cunning defence = 100 ranks CM. Everything else = no effect.
Tactically, prone critters don't tackle so 1207. Level 15 is the new level 30 after the CM and mana changes this year. Use whatever tactics you would have used at level 30 a year ago.

<Use whatever tactics you would have used at level 30 a year ago.>
The problem is most of my characters either didn't have the spells/skills at 15 they were using at 30, if they did they weren't nearly as reliable at that level.
I found a warrior in my group I'd forgotten about that was level 16, and he did well in there... my rogue couldn't stay in the shadows reliably at that level though, the ranger couldn't cast half her spells indoors yet, the sorcerer would prolly be ok like level to the ogres today but I certainly wouldn't try to up-hunt them like I did with him back in the day.
The great thing about that area was that most professions could start hunting there at level 11 since there are no critters in RR between brown spinners/crocodiles (level 9) and large ogres (level 15). Besides the ogres not tackling, what really made that possible was they'd throw away their weapons after a while. Without them doing that, one hit is easily a death sentence if you're not at least in brig...
