We inadvertently stumbled upon Vilthulko and his horde of ghouls and shadow creatures last night, and it quickly became clear that although the initial invaders were weak, Vilthulko was more than either of us could handle! So we tried to raise the alarm. In the process, Tatsui displayed a sense of urgency that made the situation far more interesting and entertaining than it otherwise would have been.
Once it became clear that we were on our own, we decided that Tav should take the Aradhul road to Illistim to call for aid. I only regret that once a band of high level adventurers joined us, Tatsui was unable to continue with us as the invaders became increasingly more powerful.
Honorable mentions to Pereus, Sillumina, and Demoneyes who believed Tav despite his inability to express exactly what it was he had seen! Also to Vilorcasdra who joined in later, although I couldn't understand a word she said all night! And finally the aelotoi (I'm sorry, but I've forgotten your name!) who refused to help the Vaalor elves defend their city! In roleplaying sometimes we have to make unpopular or difficult choices and defend those decisions in order to remain true to character. Tav and Tatsui were certainly disappointed, but as a player I had fun with the whole situation.
All in all it was a nice diversion from my usual routine of power hunting. I've become increasingly disenchanted with RP events in this game as too often it quickly devolves into the usual suspects showing up seemingly out of nowhere to ham it up for an RPA. With everyone suddenly turning on the drama, I just find it very annoying. It's too difficult to get a word in with so many players clamoring for attention, and I'd rather not make myself a part of the problem most times.
This was just a minor event. We didn't even know why it was happening (apparently Vilthulko is part of the monk release event and he was showing off some mental magic?). But somehow it was more fun for me than the BIG events that are ongoing in the world. Thanks also to the GM in charge of that! Random, spontaneous, and entertaining. It was quite memorable for its small scale!

While I was not part of this whole affair.... not directly. I must say it stirred the pot and had an interesting quality to it that most events dont quite achieve. These 'mini' events attract the locals, rather than world travelers seeking the next big thing. It enriches the daily interactions between players who see each other day in and day out. I agree with Taverkin on this one.... it was more fun than the big events. Please incorporate more!
Nice work to a friend Taver, a Silly Lady, a Giant Demon of goodness, a Pere, and a Casdra. As to the unnamed winged one.... nice work too!

I enjoyed Tatsui. I left a lot of his interactions in the logs from the event on all 3 primary nights.
I think I understand where you're going with world travelers, but unlike in the past when the game was bigger, I think that most PCs tend to stick to what matters to their "character". Geijon was in River's Rest because the Grandmaster called him, he was in Ta'Vaalor because the monastary was threatened. I fought in Wehnimer's against Stone and the Krolvin, but I didn't spend much time in Solhaven during the Schism or the Red Dreamer. Likewise the Solhaven groups didn't come to Wehnimers much during Stone and we don't tend to get involved in the Queen/King or elven wars.
In the past I'd agree. I think with a smaller player base you don't tend to see people who aren't invested in the struggle make much of an appearance.
A lot of us don't go to the East often. I would hope that some folks enjoyed meeting the world travelers. I enjoyed meeting several of our eastern counterparts and seeing different dynamics evolve from that.

There are quite a few of us who think that way, but there are also quite a few people who see the storylines as just a chance to snag an RPA and get more exp. After a while you tend to know who is who, it isn't hard to figure out if you pay a little attention.
