This is a few days late, but I wanted to share.
The other day in Icemule town center, there was a bit of a conflict that I feel unfolded nicely. It began with a dwarf by the name of Banty, whose manners were quite...dwarven, to say the least! He got into trouble with several people that day, but the conflict expanded unexpectedly when Banty mistakenly referred to Maetriks and Demyse as Dhe'nar (they are Faendryl). At which point I (Tav) corrected him by way of explaining that not all elves of that kind are Dhe'nar and that one might take offense to being confused with the other. But the damage had already been done! Demyse and Maetriks had taken offense.
This is where events took an unexpected turn! In the process of punishing Banty for the insult against their ancestry, Demyse inadvertently drew the attention of a bigger fish who just so happened to be Dhe'nar! Telare was insulted by Demyse's haughty attitude and "thanked him" (using Demyse's own words against him!), after a brief exchange, by savagely immolating him to death in the center of town! Maetriks was burned alive immediately afterward because she would almost certainly have sought retribution for her husband's (correct me if I'm wrong on that?)...err, demise!
It was all very well done, in my opinion.
Banty was as crude as can be and as oblivious to it as a dwarf!
I commend Maetriks and Demyse for taking their lumps, so to speak. It takes a lot to remain objective under those circumstances and, unless I'm mistaken, the both of you pulled it off nicely. I'm sure you'll exact your revenge, if you haven't already! I'm likewise sure Telare's player will play along and it'll make for another worthwhile interaction!
Speaking of Telare, I think you really took this one to the next level. It was entertaining and clever and you did it with style! There was also a nice element of brutal justice to the whole thing. And while I don't think it was 100% necessary to murder two elves in the streets (Tav certainly didn't approve, as you know!), that's the way it happened and I wouldn't have had it any other way. You were as Dhe'nar as Banty was dwarf!
I wish I had logged the interaction to share. Oh well!

Supporting GK to the Dhe'nar in Icemule. The violence and racism has picked up significantly since you started to become a presence, but it's all good fun! I find that many players are attracted to the Dhe'nar culture because they want to roleplay. They want to explore roleplayed conflict, specifically. And we really need that! Conflict is the spice of roleplayed life! But not all of us have the courage to pursue it! We have to rely on you to get the ball rolling!
It's not an easy thing to do. And far more difficult to do WELL! So kudos to those of you who are able to navigate this difficult path successfully!
On a side note, it makes it a little more difficult to pull off the unconditionally nice routine! How is Tav supposed to balance being polite and helpful to the Dhe'nar...as well as their victims? All while you insult him for his trouble? But that's what makes roleplaying interesting!
The good news is, if I succeed we can still group up for bandits without me killing all of you and using the "Ya got in the way!" excuse! Just kidding! Tav would never do that! Would he?

Taverkin is awesome. It disturbs Telare how incessantly friendly he is. It's great to see someone roleplay a lighthearted Halfling who isn't incessantly squeaking all the time or cramming tarts down his throat. I truly thank you for the compliment Taver.
Banty cracks me up. His player walks a fine line of harrassment and unrequited flirtation and does it quite well. It's always fun to see him around.
Kudos to Maetriks and Demyse for roleplaying a conflict between two enemies and not turning it into griefing. Telare did what he did, they got their retribution, and it was over after that. Hard to find these days.

Well, actually, Tav is pretty squeaky! And he does love tarts! And beer! But I'm okay with using a few stereotypes, as long as I manage to imbue the character with enough personality to break beyond these superficial boundaries. I just give it my best shot and hope whatever it is I do is appreciated by most of the players I interact with. I think in that regard Tav has been my most successful character!
Thanks for the compliment!

You guys really made my day with this. A friend pointed it out today otherwise I would have never known and yes it was fun. Telare and I are friends OOC so the conflict was interesting. Retribution was gotten and with style at that. Thanks, Tav and everyone else.

It's all just a conspiracy between short folk to get rid of the dark elves that have moved into town recently! Phase two is to lower all of the doorways in Icemule trace by another foot. Phase 3 doesn't exist yet, but we'll consult with Ruabadra and see what she can come up with.
