Sometimes I post little surveys full of random questions (sometimes about eating crayons) to the denizens of the Solhaven socializing board, mostly just to wake them up a bit...

Today, I think I'm taking my polling up here. People haven't been talking about RP much. So let's shoot for a little burst of activity, k? (I'll do my own answers later...)

Answer the following:

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
5) What is their favorite food?
6) What is their most treasured possession?
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.

Signed,
Raelee and her Strings

BASICS:
1) Kastrel Tyraegen Faendryl
2) Male/81/Dark Elf/Faendryl/No Religious Affiliation
3) I'd have to say Faendryl, but I think his most influential trait is one you missed: Profession. He is a Sorcerer before he is Faendryl.
4) Demonologist Sorcerer devoted to study and gaining power, professional, cautious and serious.
5) In order of most to least important: Sorcerer, Faendryl, Society, House, Race (No Diety, so last)

RANDOMNESS:
1) Nope.
2) Citizen of Cysaegir because it is a rational decision.
3) True Neutral. Laws are followed to avoid penalty, but broken when possible and there is reason to. Acts of altruism are done for personal gain (gaining favor and social stability), but acts of cruelty follow the same policy.
4) Black with purple undertones/lining.
5) Spicy food
6) Vreen Morph sphere
7) Sorcerer Guild/Sorcerers as a whole. Hugely influential, and the only "true" altruism he engages in is that of teaching other Sorcerers.
8) None.
9) some violet-trimmed elegant black leathers embossed with a shien'tyr rune on the left breast - Probably my most valuable possession mechanically speaking, perfect color scheme, yet paying homage to his interest in Demonology.
10) New Ta'Faendryl. If you include all existing towns that are not in game? Old Ta'Faendryl.

LIFE:
1) Study and research
2) Biologist/Physicist
3) Preliminary research into Sorcery and Demonology. His appearance in the greater Elanthian region means he is ready for independent study.
4) 8 years, but there was a 3 year gap in the middle. He has gotten more serious, colder, and more professional. He has also become more committed to the causes of Sorcery, as well as more knowledgable. He also shifted from Necromancy to Demonology, which is huge from an RP perspective (for me).

FANTASY:
1) Reach the apex of Sorcerous power and knowledge. Achieving Lich-hood would not be out of the question.
2) Realistically? If 750 is ever released as Demonic Summoning, I would want to be the most highly involved player in the event, and am partially responsible for the successful release and resolution of the event.
3) Knowledge of a Minor Summoning rune that no one else in the game can learn or have access to without me making runestones for it. Barring that, an item which allows me to summon a "personal" Minor Demon, similar to Call Familiar items.

IG/OOG:
1) Some do, particulary Sorcerers who I've worked with extensively.
2) In general, I've never seen a character who "didn't get me" and then got the impression that their player did. Its possible though.
3) Occasionally with a very small number of people, but when I go OOC, I have a totally different personality. I try to avoid "explaining" Kastrel in game.
4) I think these conversations happen most with "friendly" characters who I become associated with. I try to convey that Kastrel's coldness is not personal, but general to all people. He is simply not a warm person, but he is capable of the concepts of devotion and loyalty to a cause or person, but its more rational than emotional.
5) Probably that his quiet-ness is not me being AFK. I've played him as a semi-loner for years, and its easy to get the two confused, unless you sit in town doing tons of RP verbs at yourself.
6) As Kastrel, I won't. He is not normally interested in people, and if I personally am genuinely curious, it will have to be through OOC methods or by observation. I have other characters who are much more interested in talking to people about themselves though.
7) Fictional as in . . . from books or shows? I don't think so. I was influenced by several prominent Sorcerers, however, including Querthose and Evarin specifically. Querthose got me "involved and aware", while interacting with Evarin helped my cement and isolate part of my "professional" aspect to Kastrel.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list.
Adding #5 to the "Basics" list
5. If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?

Not something I typically participate in, but I like it!

BASICS:
1) Greganth Olberath
2) Male, 22, Half Elf, Faendryl, None.
3) Faendryl
4) I think being of Faendryl decent gives my character, character. Although the reasons for that have not been released through IC game-play yet, and I prefer to have precedent before I make a BBS proclamation.

RANDOMNESS:
1) NMN
2) He hates, hates, hates Spiders!
3) Is Chaotic Good an option?
4) Royal/Cerulean Blue
5) Chocolate
6) His Golvern Longsword
7) Voln, The Drakes Vanguard, House Phoenix, Moonshine Manor.
8) Greg digs Ronan. Ronan could care less. Greg is very open minded regarding the Arkati and their causes.
9) a drake-carved red fireleaf shield - Carved across the face of the shield is a stylized drake, its wings outstretched and in a shallow spiraling pattern to cover the entire surface. A brilliant red lacquer coats the surface, the coloring pooling in the carved crevices and providing shadowy accents to the creature. The underside of the shield is undyed grey-green, and the smooth surface is interrupted only by the leather cinch which serves as the shield's adjustable arm sleeve. This shield hung over the mantle within Greg's Home. He took it down and put it to use when he left the east for the west.
10) Greg owns a sweet custom tent, and owns a fishing pole.

LIFE:
1) Studying, when not traveling.
2) Teach
3) Coming of age. He was barely a man
4) Greg is three game years old.

FANTASY:
1) To discover what really happened to his father.
2) Kidding? I wanted to be THAT guy that killed Grishom Stone. Maybe there will be another chance. Heh.
3) Vorpal Longsword of Doom. Demonbane, plasma flaring, teleportion rune imbedded into the hilt. This weapon can sense evil in the area and it's flares go around corners. Twice a day it summons a yellow labrador that answers to Fred.

IG/OOG:
1) I think most CHARACTERS know what motivates Greg.
2) I think many PLAYERS forget or overlook that Greg is played as an impulsive youth. He speaks alot older than he is, that doesn't mean he is always going to act as rash as he may sound.
3) Yes, often, with my peers that would never act on OOC knowledge in reaction to their interactions with him.
4) I try to avoid the on the spot OOC whispered interactions of "hey my character is X, so this is how he would react." These things often make me seek refuge quickly. My conversations are taken away from the incident. If someone wishes to approach me IC and explain their beliefs and explain an action, I am all for that dialogue.
5) It's all a work in progress.
6) I will draw someone in and ask. Greg is intuitive, and offers opinion freely. It cause he is a pill, you see.
7) When Greg was concieved I patterned him greatly after another rogue I played some many years ago, my own creation, evolved. I see him now as a cross between Joeff and Jaime these days, prior to Book 4.

FINALLY:
1) Greg would choose Race, Culture, Society, House, with no opinion on Diety.

Adding my question!

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)

BASICS:

1) Nihrvanah Tarsonath Vaalor
2) Female, 150s, Elven, Vaalor, Huntress(-er? -ian?)
3) Vaalor
4) She most oftentimes has a "damsel in distress" syndrome

RANDOMNESS:
1) No
2) She loves faerie stories, specifically the ones her mother used to tell her when she was a child.
3) Chaotic Good... I think
4) Gold
5) Hmm... we'll go with venison... but she pretty much barely eats.
6) It would have been her porcupine, if she had one. Guess I'll just have to say her puppy-like crate.
7) The Crimson Legion
8) I want to say it's a tie between Laethe and Voaris, and it's because she keeps having bad luck in the love department? Most of her past relationships ended because either they died/disappeared or because her father did not approve of them.
9) a wide golden vaalorn waist cincher clasped with a piceous phoenix-etched diamond studded lock. This is actually a Joola corset I had made at EG recently. I don't have the show since it was in a locker and I didn't feel like moving stuff to answer this. This was essentially inspired by Beyonce's thick metal belt/cincher from the VMA's(?) a few years ago. One of things that makes it personal is how it is held together, basically three latches with three minute locks engraved with "Honor, Pride, and Glory," essentially showing what she is "bound" by.
10) Braavos or Qarth

LIFE:
1) Music lessons, military meetings, maybe off being lazy in her house.
2) Oh, she'd be leading a rock band, I think.
3) She served her official 100 years in the King's active service, before that... well, I'll just leave it at, her home life was less than pleasant.
4) Four years, and despite all her trauma/drama, she's matured significantly. Even more so since her King died.

FANTASY:
1) At one point in time, she wanted to marry King Tyrian and serve as queen. Seeing as how that isn't happening, she simply wishes to gain position the the royal court.
2) Being chosen the be the Huntress's blade, ie actually acting as her form of mortal justice, if that makes sense?
3) Fire ring because she's got a very cliche' fiery temper. She is often ruled by her emotions and can leave destruction in her wake when she's riled up.

IG/OOG:
1) A small handful do
2) It depends on the player.
3) Yes, plenty.
4) It helps add an extra level of depth to an interaction that wouldn't normally be there. An extra sense of "danger" or perhaps an immediate attraction. Underlying things that can be "Sensed" irl but might not translate well into text if it wasn't brought slightly to the surface.
5) For the most part, with Nihrvanah, it's about breaking past her walls and defenses, of which she has a lot. Most of it is perceived as her pushing others away, and isolating herself. Those who can break through realize she's harmless and pretty much needs as much positive reinforcement she can get.
6) I mostly try to get information through IG interactions, but sometimes, if I'm sensing something and it would be out of line with the rp, I'll speak in an OOC manner to get further detail.
7) Since most people are referring to IG fictional, I will have to go with Nihrvanah's adoptive father, Hanshayr, as her biggest influence. His guidance, words of wisdom, and sense of protection has pushed her to better herself in the Legion and help her rebuild her self-worth.

FINALLY:
1) Culture, Race, Diety, Society, Profession, then House/Organization.
2) The world, no. The world would not be worth it to her. If you'd said her King and her home, yes.
3) My question: What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

>>We are the ones who will never be broken. With our final breath, we'll fight to the death. We are soldiers.

Well, I'm usually game for one of Raelee's surveys...

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
- Godefroy Kalason
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
- Male, 33 years old, Human, Mestaniri, Church of Koar
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
- Hmmn... actually, 'Human'
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
- He seems older than he is, and would like everyone to calm down a bit.
5. If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
- Deity... Culture... Race... Profession... House... Society.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
- Nope.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
- He has a deep, hidden respect for Marlu.
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
- Lawful Neutral
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
- Medium blue
5) What is their favorite food?
- Freshly baked bread, with butter and salt
6) What is their most treasured possession?
- Well, since I can't have my lightsaber back... probably the medallion that was created out of the ether for him when he invoked Ronan via his connection to Koar in an impromptu semi-commune the night Chaeye left during the GSS.
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
- Hands down, the Church of Koar (as an organization). Past that, the Empire in general.
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
- That's a tough one. If you asked him, he'd probably say Eonak or Jastev, depending on the day. Sometimes (especially when people are spelling up in North Market or harassing the Big Bad) Marlu.
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
- I think I am proudest of my "a weathered leather case"
Scuffs and cuts mar the leather of this container, though most seem to be incidental. The interior has been divided into many small holes and cubbies, providing space for medical supplies, scrolls, and other incidentals necessary for a well-equipped, if pessimistic, traveler.
It pretty well sums up my attitude towards this character for the last few years. Be as prepared as you can, seem optimistic, and maybe you'll eventually get a pleasant surprise.
10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
- Most likely retire back to Mestanir, or possibly the Capital in Selanthia.
11) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
- ...yes... and frankly, it would be a relief. I'm too attached to stop playing, but he's pretty much done.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
- Process paperwork, advise noblemen in Vornavis, study the nature of magic and mathematics, and occasionally brew a little mead.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
- He would probably be one of those upper-middle bureaucrats that rises quickly because he's a believer, then gets disillusioned when his illusions are shattered but stays because others would just make it worse.
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
- He was very happily on his way to his first deaconage in Aldora, before I redirected him north. Poor guy.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
- Something like eight years, now. He has gone quite a ways, starting out young and idealistic, then getting beaten down, and now cynical, older, and cranky.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
- He would probably tell you retirement, though he wouldn't object too much to being named Patriarch.
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
- Yeesh, I dunno. Ascension? Being granted some high position in the Empire/higher position in the Church? Being made Chaplain of the Order of the Golvern Star?
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
- Heheheh... minions? Erm, I mean... acolytes.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
- Well, they should! I think most people understand him about 80%, at least.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
- I think a few do, at any rate.
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
- Yes, sometimes quite often, if there is stuff going on.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
- Not usually, unless it's a matter of arranging a scripted discussion ICly.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
- Hmmn... maybe? I try to portray Gode as a good fellow, that still makes mistakes, and cares enough about that to try and fix/cover them, but ultimately is too weary to care beyond that.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
- Interact with them? One of the great things about playing an archetype is that people talk to you!
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
- At the inception, equal parts Father John Francis Mulcahey and Captain B. J. Honeycutt. I guess these days he's more like Col. Potter.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
- Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

Morvule hisses, "Ssssally ssssellssss sssseashellssss by the sssseasssshore."

RANDOMNESS:
11) Somehow it got deleted? But no, she wouldn't. The world as a whole wouldn't be worth her life, her King and home, that is a different story.

Godefroy didn't answer the bonus questions!

Ok. I'll answer my own survey now...

BASICS:
>1) What is your character's name?
Raelee A. Svala

>2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female. 30. Human. Chastonia. Fash'lo'nae (philosophically)

>3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Wizard, if we'll pretend I didn't forget 'profession' in the initial question. But her obsession with her work is very tied into species (human mortality) and religion/philosophy as well.

>4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
Mage.

RANDOMNESS:
>1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
Anza

>2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
She has the soul of ex-Provost Paidreg Venquinor in her locker.

>3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
I think she straddles the line between Lawful Evil and Chaotic Neutral. (Neutral frigid?!)

>4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Gold or white.

>5) What is their favorite food?
She so practical that she doesn't care, but at this point in her life she HATES muffins.

>6) What is their most treasured possession?
This was a hard one. Probably "a small shard of black rock." (The shard appears almost crystalline, its fractured edges gleaming with geometric clarity and rigid form. Deep pitting mars its surface, a telltale sign of its doubtlessly incredibly ancient origins. Scrawled across the mottled blackness of the stone's natural hue are glassy white marks like that of chalk, yet they look as if they've been burned into the stone's structure permanently by some powerful force.) It's a fragment of the original rock that Fash'lo'nae invented writing on. The Grandfather gave it to her personally.

Second place, probably "a blue-jeweled heavy gold ring" - the ring is the offical symbol of her status as a Magister of the Hall of Mages. It represents a lot of heavy things, both good and bad.

>7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
The Hall of Mages. She was born there. It's her family legacy. She's a part of it now, and there's a part of her that absolutely wants to prove herself to them.

>8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Luukos. Raelee is not a religious person. She is deeply devoted to the philosophy of Fash'lo'nae, but there is no worship there. Similarly, there is no religious bent towards Luukos. Most of it is... simply business.

>9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
a complex gold circular tattoo on the back of her right hand (Upon the back of her right hand, a perfect circle is rendered as a faintly metallic dark golden band. A series of intricate sigils encompasses the circle, each carefully inked in warm tones ranging from pale golden to deep bronze with the most elaborate centered at the cardinal points. Precisely drawn lines cross its center, some stark and straight in their course. The others arc gracefully to the outermost edge, four escaping to wrap around the base of her hand and spiral down the inside of her wrist.)

This is the first of a whole system of magical tattoos that she personally designed to help focus and channel her power.

>10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
Either Nydds or the outskirts of Elstreth.

LIFE:
>1) What does your character do during all of the time you're not logged in?
She works. She reads, she studies, she writes, she experiments.

>2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
She'd probably be working in academia somewhere at someplace like MIT or CalTech... doing some crazy science like Quantum Physics.

>3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
She was at the Hall of Mages as a student. She left on "sabbatical" and ended up in Vornavis.

>4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
I rolled Raelee up in 2003. It'll be a decade in the spring next year. I think in the beginning, she was very book smart, but absolutely naive. She was utterly cool, calm and collected. As her naivety faded away, she turned into a very angry, frustrated young woman. People still seem to think she has hair-trigger temper, but I think she's calmed down a lot again.

FANTASY:
>1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
She wants to know everything. She's focused on finding The Grandfather's mythical library right now, but it really is a means to an end.

>2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Finding that Library, or making some other grand discovery. She needs a big, magical success.

>3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
I want her magical laboratory.

IG/OOG:
>1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
Most only know Raelee on the surface, I think. Because she is so private, a lot of the deeper layers haven't been revealed to most people. Though sometimes I wonder if character do see more than they let on.

>2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I think they do, actually. In part, because I'm not opposed to talking about it.

>3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
Absolutely. I think it can help hammer out some of what makes them tick, and it can be really interesting to hear about what other players have to say about their characters.

>4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
I hope not too much in the meta-gaming sense. But sometimes it can be a good thing to have a little nudge to go investigate something that can be interesting/rewarding for all involved.

>5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
I've always found it curious that a lot of the darker aspects of my character, her associations, her activities... haven't seemed to leak out too much to the "public"

>6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
Raelee will ask, point blank. She has zero tact. However, I'm not opposed to discussing things OOC, especially in a uh... incident postmortem?

>7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
Sikozu Shanu from Farscape was an early influence. Emma Frost from the X-Men is in there too, mostly in the psychology... definitely not in the wardrobe.

FINALLY:
>5. If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Profession, Deity, Race, Society/Organization (tie), Culture

>Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
No. She's no hero. If she's dead, she can't learn.

>What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
On the level of BIG RP events, destroying Solhaven at the end of the Cataclysm will stay with her forever. On the smaller, personal level... being taken down to the Luukos Temple in Solhaven by Mekthros and Alisaire years and years ago left a huge impact on her. It opened doors.

>Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
To make her great discovery. To open the library. To unlock the secrets of the universe. Nothing else would matter.

>1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
I wrote the whole survey. I think I'm absolved of any further responsibility for asking questions.

I'll bite.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Rohese Bayvel-Timsh'l

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female, 100s, Illistim elf and devotee of Lumnis.

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Illistimi. Tricky one as her responsibilities are pretty equally split between being a good wife, her duties as a Lumnis Priestess and her fealty to House Illistim. Fortunately her husband and Lumnis are patient and understanding, allowing her to devote most of her time to the House.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance. (Socrates)

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
Avaie, after her maternal grandmother. I have Roh's genealogy mapped back 3 generations (sad I know)

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
Rohese believes in fairies.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Lawful Good

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
White

5) What is their favorite food?
She fasts during daylight hours but her guilty pleasure is chocolate.

6) What is their most treasured possession?
Her mother's cameo (a pearl and ivory cameo choker ~ Mounted in silver filigree is a notably large oval cameo, the shadowy onyx surround serving as a perfect contrast to the pale countenance of the aristocratic elven female in the ivory bas-relief. Four strands of iridescent cream pearls form a snug choker allowing the weighty piece to rest in the hollow of the throat. A faded inscription on the back bears testament to the fact that it may be a treasured family heirloom, the poignant message reading, "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.")

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
House Sylvanfair of which she is Chancellor.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Torn between Koar or Oleani (the age old dilemma of whether we are ruled by the head or the heart)

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
Feature alteration relating to the curse that made her mute: She has an inking of a faint star constellation on her neck ~ Five tiny stars configured in the shape of a W have been discretely tattooed on the side of her neck with faintly shimmering silver ink, the pattern barely visible against her pale skin. One star however appears slightly brighter than the rest and cleverly conceals a small crescent-shaped scar on her throat.

And an item: "THE BOOK" with the dreaded ezscripts. (A work in progress that pretty much defines Rohese.)
a pavonated leather-bound book ~ Creamy white vellum pages have been bound within bright blue leather to form this thin book. Embossed in the cover is an elaborate peacock, its fanned tail adorned with violet, blue and green sapphires. Beneath the crest and along the slender spine, in fine gold leaf, are the words, “Lady Hiraani Gael's Comprehensive Guide to Protocol and Etiquette in the Illistim Court.”

Balancing the leather-bound book on her head, Rohese stands with practiced poise and takes a few graceful steps forward. Just as the book begins to wobble, she removes it before it has a chance to fall.

Rohese thumbs carefully through the pages of her book until she finds the pertinent passage. Tracing the lines of text with her finger as she reads it, she looks deep in thought for a moment before giving a nod of approval.

Pursing her lips and drawing herself up to full height, Rohese’s fingernails tap agitatedly on the cover of her book. With a steely glint in her eye, she glances pointedly at the title and tightens her grip on the spine.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
Lumnea Meadow

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
Frequent the library whether it be her own modest one, the Library Aies or the Cleric Guild. Finding the paper white bottle scent at this year's EG made my day! (You have an indistinct whiff of parchment and dust radiating from your skin)

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
Housewife or Librarian.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
Being a dutiful daughter and studying.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
10 years. Much has happened to Rohese in that time in terms of life changing events (the death of her father, being able to speak again, her reunion with her half-sister and her marriage) but the essence of Rohese remains the same in that she's still prim and innately snobbish but with a big heart.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
A recognised role in the Illistim Court.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Being able to have children, something that isn't possible.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
A fully stocked and functional vanity unit/dressing table for her home.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
I'd like to think so. She's pretty much an open book (pun intended)

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
I prefer people to approach Rohese directly if they wish to know more about her but yes, I have shared her story OOC with those that are interested.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
They are better able to understand her mannerisms and quirks, why she is the way she is, and react accordingly and vice versa.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
Her grief at not being able to give her husband a son and heir. Because she will never talk about it.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
I try to stay IC as much as possible and avoid OOC whispers so would try to catch them in a RP situation that would allow me to explore their character a little more. Unfortunately, Rohese is not a very confident person and therefore not likely to initiate a conversation or be inquisitive which makes it very hard.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
Tolkein's Galadriel for deportment with a touch of Eddings' Aphrael for child-like qualities.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
Kastrel: If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Culture (Illistim), Deity (Lumnis), House (Sylvanfair), Race (Elf), Profession (Cleric), Society (Voln)
Greganth: Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Without question.
Nihrvanah: My question: What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
A personal RP event which saw the restoration of her voice when she became a Voln master.
Godefroy: Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
Being a mother.

My question: What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Rohese can't abide brash or rude behaviour and is obsessed about cleanliness.

~*~ She conquers, who endures ~*~

Love these things. It sometimes nudges things in the right directions :)

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Divone Lerade

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female,26,human. Is spoiled brat a culture?

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Captain.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!) She's in love with the sea and painting portraits for people of Elanthia.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
No.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
She's reserved and will always do the right thing BUT she is drawn towards things that are not necessarily NICE.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Neutral Good.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Copper.
5) What is their favorite food?
Wine.(It's made from grapes..it's a food.)

6) What is their most treasured possession?
A locker full of things given to her as gifts. She treasures them all.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
She enjoys her "sittings" with people who commission her art. Divone could write an expose book on everyone. People open up when being painted. She's not telling though. :)

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Divone officially follows Niima. She does this to protect the sailors on her ship. She believes offerings to Niima will keep them safe and she remains loyal to her. In her heart of hearts, she's Andelasian. People have many sides. No, she won't dress in a cat suit.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
I suck at wording alterations and tend to stick with off the shelf items. The only thing I ever designed myself and still like is her hair. "She has long, bluntly cut deep ruby red hair with thick bangs across her forehead."

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
Tamzyrr. She can sail out of there and the Hall of Mages is there.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
She either painting or sailing the sea...or both.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
Lobster fisherman/folkartsy girl.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
She was battling an overpowering mother. Her mother wished her to marry a nobleman and threw her to the wolves of court. Things didn't go well. Divone wanted one of her father's ships. Quite frankly, Divone's father was sick of her spoiled ways but didn't want her marrying for power. He dropped her off in Solhaven, hugged her gently and said "Figure it out."

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
I've been playing her for nearly three years. She's figuring it out :) Might be time to explore those darker aspects though...

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
Ultimate wish? Ummmmmm...not telling. Why spoil the surprise?!

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Save the day instead of being the first one in the corpse pile. Poor gal.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
A ship. Divone is now Captain of the Niima's Grace, a commissioned ship by her dear friend Misun. If I could get that in game...bliss...

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
She's not hard to figure out for the most part. What you see is what you get. For the most part. Few get to see those darker times. Only one really knows what is deep, deep down. That character probably doesn't yet grasp how far she was willing to take.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I'm not sure if most look beyond that polite, silly gal. There really isn't a lot of opportunity to see beyond that. Does anyone ever wonder why Divone never really "dated"?

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
All the time. To whoever will listen. And I will ask questions about yours. I will ooc things in game to help smooth things along if I feel it necessary. I know it kills things a bit when people do this but I have this odd urge to always make sure people I interact with know there it's separate. Her actions, my actions.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
I try not to assume to know these things, or anything else I learn ooc but I don't mind trying to lead towards things. Start asking more specific questions.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
She's worked so long at doing the right thing, it's second nature. She honors Andelas for a reason though. There are many aspects to people and she has a very deep, deep sadistic nature that peeps out once in awhile.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
Ask them questions. Lame questions, good questions, lots and lots of questions.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
None that I can think of.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
5. If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Her profession, Captain.

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I adore playing Divone but could not refuse going out with style ;)

What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
Telling a certain someone she felt an affinity to a cat.

Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
Yes. That character has no idea.

What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Blatant flowery flattery. She knows she's attractive. She isn't vain, just aware. Sincere compliments are rare and treasured. She'll get goofy over them. Obsessions? Task of day. Right now she's on a little quest she cooked up with Raelee. Or bullied Raelee into? Is doing despite Raleee...something something Raelee's involved :)

My question:

What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
Myself, I can't play evil. I'm too silly. Silly shows up somewhere with most of my characters. I can't help it.

BASICS:
>1) What is your character's name?
Seomanthe Bartley-Olberath

>2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female, 34, Human, from the barony of Bourth (specifically the city of Krestle), Imaeran

>3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?)
Human

>Why?
Before she left home to join Voln in her teenage years, Seo grew up in the household of social-climber/merchants who intended to try and marry her up within the barony, so her education up to that point was very much weighted toward ideals politically and socially important to Humans.

>4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
Seo is stubborn and judgemental but quick to start a conversation and generally outgoing, friendly and helpful.

RANDOMNESS:
>1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
She does not.

>2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
She saves all the pieces of amber and statues made of amber she finds hunting and leaves them in Imaera's shrine. Sometimes she checks the backroom at the jewelers for them and buys them there too.

>3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Chaotic good for sure.

>4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
IC she would say rainbow of course, but I see her as a thundery purple grey (which I reflected in her sonic weapon alter).

>5) What is their favorite food?
She's partial to food delivered in sandwich form, but anything potatoey is good too.

>6) What is their most treasured possession?
A compass her grandfather gave her before she left the Empire.

>7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
Voln, Aspis, Wehnimers, in that order.

>8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Probably Lorminstra if this is limited to Arkati and not lesser spirits, otherwise Voln.

>9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
a seething grey thunderhead khopesh - Roiling dark grey clouds clash against a magical barrier to form the shape of a long, wavering khopesh. A greenish tint colors the captured storm clouds, contrasted with near-black and purple undertones. Flashes of light illuminate parts of the khopesh momentarily, as if arcs of lightning are hidden within the tempest.

I like to interpret sonic alterations as a reflection of something internal to the character. Seo hasn't considered why her sonic weapon looks this way, but OOC, it's a reflection of the fact that she's quick to make snap judgements about people and has a volatile streak.

>10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
She would probably move to the Swale where her grandfather lives and work for the Company of the Three Maidens.

LIFE:
>1) What does your character do during all of the time you’re not logged in?
Since she’s a bit mercurial, it changes. For awhile it was forging. Lately she’s been practicing swinging a sword left-handed, but hasn’t managed more than chipping the glaes toes of her big stompy dwarven boots.

>2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
I think she'd probably be a stagehand or a roadie. Something that involved traveling, lots of people and working with her hands.

>3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
She was annoying the Voln monks in Fasthr's Monastery in Krestle.

>4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
She was rolled up in '04. Due to storyline development, since then she's become slightly more introspective and suspicious, which troubles her because she honors Imaera by emulating her joyful nature and feels distanced from that now.

FANTASY:
>1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
Thus far she’s been too mercurial for an ultimate goal. Now that things are changing for her, that may change too...

>2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Someone like a Grandmaster of Voln entrusting her with an important task that she would hopefully accomplish, preferably before her elderly grandfather passes away.

>3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
Something that let Seo assume a perfect disguise so she could go into other places and blend like a local, so she could understand more about them without the burdens of racial issues. Like becoming a Faceless Man! (this would necessarily have to include some kind of “mask” for her name of course)

IG/OOG:
>1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
A few, yes. Greganth of course. Karibeth and Tebon a little too.

>2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
Thinking it’s only Greganth here! I have not actually talked about Seo with many other people/players.

>3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
Yup although admittedly, that is a recent development.

>4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
They've made me more mindful about how Seo reacts to things. I know some limited OOC information about a few other characters, but I don't feel like it's my place to push forward their RP without their initiating it. I also hate finding out who all your alts are, so don’t tell me!

>5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
Seo has a lower-class accent 90% of the time, but she’s actually well educated and can speak very eloquently if she wants to-- her accent is completely faked. I’m not sure anyone has observed that (hopefully they don’t think I’m just RPing inconsistently =_=).
She also has a rather boyish figure, almost flat-chested and has a square face. She doesn't imagine herself as beautiful so when flirtatious male characters start macking on her, she’s baffled (and amused since she’s very well known to be married). As to why, well we have a huge number of flirtatious males, and pretty strict limitations on physical features description!

>6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
So far the most effective method for me is find a quiet spot and actually have an IC conversation about something.

>7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
Books from my youth mostly! Tanaquil from the Black Unicorn, Cimorene from Dealing with Dragons.. Arya Stark from ASOIaF a little too, perhaps.. Undoubtedly more but I need a list of every book I’ve ever read, and I foolishly failed to compile that list.

FINALLY:
Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.

>1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their
Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Society, Diety, House, Culture/Race (so far the Caulfield baronial family has not caused any uproars or crises for her, lol), Profession

>2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Yes, I think she would.

>3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
Getting into trouble with a good friend by trusting other people to do what she expected. They didn’t, Seo’s friend suffered the consequences, and they had a HUGE argument. This is where her internal concern about departing from Imaera began.

>4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
She would do anything her grandfather asked of her.

>5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Seo is really, really annoyed by people carrying on long conversations in languages she can’t understand.

>6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
My sense of humor mostly, and secondly my willingness to believe the best of people.

My question:
>7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
Seo is an only child, and when it was clear no sons were forthcoming, she was groomed for a socially advantageous marriage by largely cold and distant parents. She thinks if she had had a brother or a more attractive sister, she probably would have been sent to a convent of the Church of Koar eventually.

Man, monster of a survey.

BASICS:
>1) What is your character's name?

Menos Relarem

>2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?

Male, 338ish, elf, Vaalor, charl-ish

>3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?

Vaalorian. His culture pretty much defines the character. I set out to make an archetypal character from the outset.

>4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)

Menos is an Vaalorian soldier to the exclusion of any other requirements.

>RANDOMNESS:
>1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?

No, but now I want to make one. Maybe Danger!

>2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.

Menos will never sit at a table before a women, assuming she is in good social standing.

>3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?

Very very very lawful neutral.

>4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)

White

>5) What is their favorite food?

Any sort of hearty bread.

>6) What is their most treasured possession?

His spurs

>7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?

The vaalor community in general, and his close friends/allies specifically.

>8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?

Koar. Menos associated with Charl because of his single minded dedication to Koar, so it would make sense for Koar to be his second closest association.

>9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

>look crest
Encompassed in a silver imperial frame, the crest shows a rampant golden wyvern in flight against a field of crimson, its wings spread wide and its mouth agape in a challenging cry. The top of the crest bears a single-hued crimson blazestar rimmed with white vaalin, while a circle of white leaves sits below that. A single crenellated line stretches from the top of the arch towards the wyvern. Outside of the circle, an ironwood sapling beneath a silver beacon flanks to the left, and a trio of intersecting spears ringed by stars at their center flanks to the right. Delicate elven script stretches across the center of the crest in raised golden lettering.
>read crest
In the Elven language, it reads:
For Honor, Pride, and Glory.

This is the only alteration Menos has that is anything besides a short with no show. Everything else I tried to make look like an off the shelf item. Obviously it is his crest. He is very old fashioned, so he uses an imperial frame over the more modern (and even more pro-Vaalor) types. It has his gem on there of course, a crenellated line to represent his love of fortifications and walls. The symbols for both of his parents with requisite military symbolism. The phrase is standard Vaalorian, as he is a standard soldier (I hope).

>10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?

A very defensible cave someplace.

LIFE:
>1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?

I imagine he is guarding a door or gate someplace in Vaalor, or just sleeping. Soldiers can always use more sleep.

>2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?

Menos would be a sociopath. He would probably work for some law enforcement agency that doesn't police their own well enough.

>3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?

Training and learning how to fight.

>4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?

Just about 10 years now. Menos has become, I think, a bit harsher and fatalistic in the last 10 years. As he becomes more sure there will be a war with the imperials, he tends to worry less about his actions. I figure the only thing keeping him from marching west and killing as many humans as he can manage is that he is not yet 100% sure that fight will come. He isn't one to leave a sure enemy alive. Dead foes pose no threat. He has also changed in terms of his outfit. He is much more late Germanic or French in style as compared to the normal look I first used on him.

FANTASY:
>1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?

A lifetime of service of Vaalor that includes killing many enemies of the King. One good enough to earn a royal gem for military service.

>2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?

Being granted chivalric prename title by the King.

>3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)

A perfect forged lance with "spear" as the noun.

IG/OOG:
>1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?

In general, I doubt it. I don't think many realize the lengths he would go in his service. If so they would probably give him a wider birth for fear he might think killing them would be helpful.

>2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?

I hope so.

>3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?

I do. Given his RP style which includes not speaking common, and not speaking much in general, it is sometimes nice to have people who still get him, as it were.

>4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)

I think they make it more fun, if both players have some idea of where it can go.

>5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?

Menos is pretty much just a word from the King or bad day away from burning down whole villages of women and children in the name of Vaalor. Also, if you see Menos in public, I am almost certainly not AFK, even if he ignores your halfling asking for help.

>6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?

About all I can do with Menos and stay well in character is stand there and listen.

>7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?

Oh yes. Early Menos was informed heavily by Éomer and the vikings in Eaters of the Dead. Much of his mannerisms came from there. As he has grown and become darker, alot more characters from the Malazan book of the Fallen have started to come into play. I think Whiskeyjack is probably the biggest influence now, with his willingness to be publicly disgraced, appear to be a traitor, see his friends killed, kill lots of people, all in service to the state.

FINALLY:
>1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.

What is your character's favorite drink?

Menos' is the blue ale from near logoth.

>2. What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

My fondness for redheads of questionable mental stability.

>3.Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?

No natural siblings. He does have a cousin and now sort of brother by oath who is played by a good friend of mine.

>4. What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

Orcs, trolls, and people who do not kill them on sight.

This is awesome, and it's been fun reading everyone's replies so far!

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
-- Cylnthia Kythnis Ardenai.

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
-- Female, 331, Elf, 3/4 Ardenai & 1/4 Vaalor, Paragon of Kuon.

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
-- Paragon of Kuon, most certainly.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
-- Elven paladin of Kuon, bent on helping anyone and everyone she can.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
-- Not especially. Kythnis is her family name, and Ardenai is her cultural surname, which she wears proudly as minor Ardenai nobility.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
-- The only race-culture Cylnthia "sees"/reacts to is that of (half-)krolvin; all other races & cultures are equal with and to her. Damned blue apes!

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
-- Neutral good with lawful leanings.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
-- Rolaren (dark gray, with blue tinges) and forest green.

5) What is their favorite food?
-- House Sylvanfair's trail mix! Nomnomnomnom!

6) What is their most treasured possession?
-- "an etched gold signet ring" - 'Set into a frame of gold, the signet ring has a wide circle that holds half-moon cuts of yellow topaz and crimson blazestar wedded together to form one gem. Engraved into the unified gems, and filled with gold foil, is the design of a tiny-winged wyvern encircling an oak leaf. The phrase "Honor, Pride, and Glory" is engraved upon the outer edge of the blazestar, while upon the outer edge of the topaz is the phrase "Our roots run deep."'

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
-- After profession-religion, most definitely House Sylvanfair. I love my Sylvanfairies!!

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
-- The Lady Imaera, because She is the Lady Patron of the Ardenai, and She was who Cylnthia honored prior to Kuon finding her.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
-- "an entwined vine tattoo" - 'Multiple deep green vines are intricately entwined together to form the outer wreath of this tattoo. Within the circle, and backed by the natural color of her flesh, a sleeping crimson wyvern curls protectively around a brilliant emerald oak leaf. A small script reading, ~ Our roots run as deep as our honor, pride, and glory ~ is delicately inked in silver below the wyvern and leaf.'
This has become something of a "crest" for Cylnthia, showing that she's started recognizing, and honoring, the Vaalorian blood that runs in her veins.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
-- Ta'Ardenai. If that's been blown up as well, than a treehouse (either a few rooms actually inside the trunk of a tree, or a structure built on the branches of the tree) out in the middle of a forest (either near-abouts where Yuriqen is, or near Ta'Ardenai).

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
-- Study herbs, help those in need of herbal help or Kuon's touch, fight off any critter-type intrusions. She's also probably looking for the above-mentioned tree-forest, so she can create a Grove of Kuon... hmmm...

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
-- She'd probably be a naturopathic family doctor, bringing together natural and artificial remedies for all the ailments that people bring to her.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
-- Harnessing her inner power, and learning how to channel that power through swinging two waraxes/longswords.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
-- A few months over 8 years (yowza!!). Cylnthia's changed, but all in good ways... she started out as a warrior, dual-wielding two waraxes, honoring Imaera. She started honoring Kuon as her main patron somewhere in 2006, I believe, and then converted to Paladin-ism on December 31, 2007. She's always been an herb-eater (had to, as a warrior, continued to as a paladin; the reason why she started honoring Kuon, as he's the patron of herbs), and has always wanted to be as helpful as possible (much more helpful as a paladin than as a warrior!!).

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
-- To be famous!! No, seriously though... she'd like to be acknowledged as /the/ "Paragon of Kuon"... Kuon's first (and possibly only) Paladin. Whether that's via skills alone, or with some acknowledgement from game staff, who knows?

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
-- To be in Kuon's physical presence, even if just for five minutes, and to have him acknowledge her, and the good she's done in his name.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
-- A self-maintaining herbal grove with a large tree in the middle, with a cottage-sized home in it, that Cylnthia could call her own. The Grove of Kuon, she would call it! :-)

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
-- I would guess that most do, given that I'm fairly open about her life and history (though, some may not understand that she was actually, seriously, a warrior prior to paladin conversion).

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
-- Probably, yes. :-)

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
-- Oh, most definitely. Cylnthia's an open-book, no matter where I am. heh

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
-- Eh, most of what I talk about, regarding Cylnthia, I take for granted that it'll make it's way into the game, IC, at some point. When talking about other people's characters, I try not to take anything they say IC-ly, unless they say specifically that it can be.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
-- Not really, no. As I said, she's pretty much an open book.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
-- Study them, watch them... and then, if I still can't figure them out, I'll ask them... if I can get over my (OOC) nervousness of interaction with others.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
-- All those sword-wielding women in fantasy & science fiction novels that I read as a kid, and continue to read as an adult. ;-)

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
Irvinetomoe - If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
-- In terms of? What makes Cylnthia Cylnthia: Profession, Race, Culture, Diety, House, ..., Society.

Scrapperk - Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
-- Heck. No. She may be a hero, but I am WAAAAY to attached to her to permanently lose her.

Ltlprprincess - What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
-- Her conversion from warrior-hood to paladin-hood.

VT-Jsaria - Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
-- If it meant the five-ish minutes, and personal acknowledgement, from Kuon... yes!

Chiverst - What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
-- Hates: krolvin, scarabs, empaths removing herbs from the bench and well'ing/barrel'ing them. Obsessions: making sure there's herbs on the bench, keeping the bench tidy, spreading knowledge of the world/OOC-game-knowledge.

Leducc21 - What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
-- My cheerfulness, yet introverted passiveness. I hate to rock the boat, and so do all my characters.

Lunatunes - Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
-- Cylnthia has one half-sister, Tinagra (also a paladin!). Tina is 1/2 Ardenai and 1/2 Vaalorian, and was raised in Ardenai, though she now resides in, and calls Ta'Vaalor home. Cylnthia enjoys having a younger sister to boss around, since she (Cylnthia) is the matriarch of the Kythnis line (inherited from her mother). Cylnthia and Tina do not adventure together because I am poor and only have one account. :-P

Joekrystel - What is your character's favorite drink?
-- Winterberry Ale, from from Byron's bar!

Moongoddess - Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
-- No relationship currently, though she has had intimate relations with a dark elf in the recent past. I don't particularly see Cylnthia has a relationship sort, mostly because my very introvertedness definitely shows through, and I have a very hard time keeping IC and OOC separate at times (which is why my only character who is relationship material is married to a character played by my husband).

Crap I almost forgot something! Can I revise an answer? lol

>5) What is their favorite food?
Kiwi fruits! One of her friends used to bring her these from Mist Harbor and never told her where they were, and she just loves them, even though she forgets what they're called all the time. Now they're available in the WL bathhouse and make great gifts if you ever want to cheer Seo up /hint.

Updating mine with the additional questions!

Divone: What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
My inability to play evil and cope well with mean people.

Seomanthe: Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
Cappyn is Roh's half-sister and is the bane of her life but she loves her dearly (as most people who know them both are aware of. Rohese also has an older sister who was responsible for cursing her but hasn't seen her since. She exists as an adventurer and I hope one day to bring her around for some fun RP.

Menos: What is your character's favorite drink?
Lavender tea.

Cylnthia: Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
Rohese has been married to Sighisoara for almost 8 years now and they are still blissfully happy.

Kastrel Info, updated with the new questions:

2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)

Hmm, I'd have to explore more. Would my character be able to survive said "world loss"? Are we talking complete destruction of the planet, or just post-apocalyptic? If Kastrel could survive (and I like to think he is a smart and resourceful person who could), then he probably wouldn't. If it was "Either you die and the world survives, or the entire world is destroyed taking YOU with it?" its a much easier question. If he was going to die anyway, he might as well to get his name some prestige, so he can be forever known as Kastrel Tyraegen Faendryl, the Sorcerer who saved the world. Not for the morality, but for the awe and prestige. But if he could survive, he probably wouldn't.

3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

I think it was the 740 release events. Going with other VERY powerful Sorcerers through a planar rift only to find that every single one of them paled in comparison to Vellinos was an eye-opener for him. Seeing Vellinos' essence form as he attempted to merge with the fabric of reality was inspirational. The fact that 740, an incredibly powerful spell, was basically an unintended side-effect of Vellinos' power play was huge, to show him that most Sorcerers are chump change in the grand scheme of things, and he intends to rise above that.

4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

Any sort of Sorcerous power on the realm of an "invasion level Sorcerer". Essence form, hordes of thousands of undead or demon minions, nigh invincibility. Lich form. Yes, and he isn't picky about it.

5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

Being embarrassed in public (Spirit Guide sucks for this!). Dangerous hunting grounds. He'll take boring and slow 99 times out of 100 over exciting, fast and dangerous.

6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

Different things, mostly. Each of my characters is part of my personality. Kastrel is my professionalism, intellect and obsession with learning.
My first empath: My shyness, my social inhibitions, my caring side
My second empath: My social fun loving side, my goofy side
My wizard: My arrogance and discipline
My cleric: My depression (long since passed, but I had it when I made him), my heart

7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?

I don't know. I realized this while reading other people's answers . . . Kastrel has no "theorized" family. This is because family means so very little to me IRL that it never crossed my mind to make him one. Even thinking about it, I can't make up an answer on the spot, I'd have to give it a lot of thought.

8)What is your character's favorite drink?

He is a lot like me in food regards, but he tends to appreciate tea (not very much like me). Otherwise, very strong flavored fruit drinks. I've designed his food/drink habits to be "exotic" in the sense that he likes seafood, spicy food, and tangy fruit. Things with flair. That said, I saw someone drinking a sarsaparilla float a few months ago, and they refused to tell me where they got it. I've been looking ever since, and no luck.

9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?

Recently tried out what could have evolved into a relationship, and I very quickly realized it simply was NOT Kastrel. Not until I was given a situation in which to show it did I realize that he does not have an emotionally affectionate bone in his body. Pretty much every aspect to romantic relationships is lacking in Kastrel. Emotional tenderness, caring for another above yourself, intimacy, emotional companionship, even sexuality . . . they are either the antithesis of him or they are so lacking as to be non-existant. It would not be Kastrel to be in a relationship, I now realize. The closest relationship I can see him entering into is that of teacher/student, and only from the "teacher" role. Its POSSIBLE that could evolve into a romantic one, but the relationship would be teacher/student first.

Since everyone else is doing it...

>>3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

I didn't realize I didn't answer this. To be honest, there are several, but the biggest thing I'd say is the recent murder of her King at the hands of a traitor. Nihrvanah stood vigil for near a week (maybe more? I forget) when they placed his body on public display in front of the Guardian Keep and she refused to move even when those closest to her begged her to get some sleep. From an OOC perspective, for the most part, I had her logged in 24/7 whether I was at the keyboard or not. In my opinion, it's something a good devoted soldier would do as their final service and it transitioned her from being a weak soldier to someone stronger and more determined. She'd been teetering on conversion to the Huntress for so long and this was the final sign for her.

>>4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

She wants to be married and have a family of her own and has for years, going as far as being disowned from her birth father to try and reach this goal that seems near impossible to her.

>>5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

She's a bit of a free spirit and has wished in the past to break the bounds of everyone else's expectations of her. She despises failure and often falls short of those same expectations. She also doesn't like the rigidity of the military, even though she knows it's her duty.

>>6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

This is really hard to pinpoint, actually, but I think my sarcasm bleeds through the most... even on my nice characters, it's there, if not blunted.

>>7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?

Yes, she is the youngest of four and the only female. She is better off without them in her life because she was tormented by them when she was growing up, always feeling unworthy of the family name because she was born a female.

>>8)What is your character's favorite drink?

Rum, preferably coconut rum. Aside from that, she has my unlimited keg filled with berry flavored beer.

>>9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?

Um... maybe? She is afraid to actually "title" what she's in, but it is something and perhaps the best something she will get.

>>We are the ones who will never be broken. With our final breath, we'll fight to the death. We are soldiers.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
-- Proa Singhorn

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
-- Female, 202, Sylvan, Lassaran, V'Tullian Monk

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
-- V'Tullian. V'Tull (to Proa) is the ultimate warrior.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
-- V'Tullian Monk Lornon-bent on pounding anything and everything into the cobblestones.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
-- Nope

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
-- Proa is fascinated with gemstones and their properties.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
-- Hmmm. Probably Lawful Evil.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
-- Blood Red

5) What is their favorite food?
-- Rolton ribs

6) What is their most treasured possession?
-- Proa's a monk! She doesn't covet possessions! Tsk.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
-- The nightowls of Icemule.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
-- Ivas, though she'd never admit it. Playing with peoples' emotions and hurting them mentally as well as physically? Yes please.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
-- A pitch black climbing pack with an iron scimitar toggle. The scimitar toggle was actually added by GM Deinos as a reward for roleplaying along with a script check. I thought that was Super Awesome and the fact that it was V'Tullian themed was icing on the cake.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
-- She'd go back to the camp where her parents and sister are, just south of Lolle.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
-- Sleeps. A lot. She loves sleep. When she's not sleeping, she's sitting at V'Tull's altar contemplating each of her battles and measuring the increase/decrease in her hunting prowess.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
-- She'd be a gemologist. With the occasional MMA match after work.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
-- Wandering Elanthia, looking for her calling. Coming from a family of bards, that's the one thing she knew she didn't want to do.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
-- Only a few months. She's become a bit less stand-offish, but she's still cynical and refuses to let anyone touch her.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
-- To be V'Tull's Champion, of course!

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
-- To fight against V'Tull. She knows she'd lose, but she'd die happy.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
-- A book that lists every gem on Elanith and what their properties are.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
-- Some do, but I'd say most don't. Quite a few get hurt feelers because Proa won't let them touch her.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
-- Possibly.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
-- Noooooo. If I have something to share about Proa, Proa will find a way to bring it up IC.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
-- N/A

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
-- DO NOT TOUCH!!! Elanthia is a very social place, and it's a little difficult (for most) to understand why someone would be averse to having grubby hands all over her.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
-- Proa's as nosy as they come. She'll butt in on conversations, or just up and ask someone an oddball question out of the blue. My favorite tactic is using something they wear to strike up a conversation, i.e. an Arkati symbol, a weapon, a tattoo... anything along those lines.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
-- None that I can think of.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.

If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
-- Profession, diety, society, race, then culture. (She has no house affiliations)

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
-- No. She'll kick anything in the gut, but she's no martyr.

What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
-- The "therapy session" that made her realize why she's so hands-off.

Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
-- That fight with V'Tull!

What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
-- She hates being touched, and people that whine when killed in battle. She adores anything small and cute, however--kittens are her biggest weakness.

What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
-- Pent up aggression! Heh.

Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?
-- She has a sister, Prathin, who is following in Mommy's and Daddy's footsteps to BardStardom. No time for silly things like adventuring.

What is your character's favorite drink?
-- Sylvan brandy, of course. Though since that's hard to come by, silver moon brandy is a close second.

Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
-- Proa is in a relationship, though it's hard for her. She's only been in said relationship for about a month, and even though she's comfortable with Tas, her skin crawls on occasion when he touches her. She doubts anyone could have the patience to stay with her in her current condition.

New Question
Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
-- She's got a one-track mind. She'll often sit at V'Tull's altar in the Icemule Temple.

Just cherry picking questions. I'd like to keep private certain details, but this seemed too entertaining to not take part in. Plus, it's about my favorite subject.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
-Sepher Cenjay

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
-Male, 115, Half-Elf, Secret, Mularosian

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most?
-Others tend to associate him with Mularos, so we'll go with that.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
-Nope.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
-He's sort of a romantic at heart (like the period, not the modern definition, even though he can be that too).

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
-I honestly don't associate him with any particular colors. For symbolic purposes, many would work.

5) What is their favorite food?
-Doesn't really have one, or rather doesn't care.

6) What is their most treasured possession?
-Probably his falchion, because he made it (perfectly forged). A friend and I spent several hours designing alters for the weapon itself, a silk blade-wrap and a sword-case (which we put a latch on and even altered a key for). It's basically his heirloom blade. Pretty much every single part of his attire means quite a lot to him, however. Nearly every item has its own history and he likely wouldn't part with any of it.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
-Sepher makes friends everywhere. Because he isn't associated with any city or organization, he freely travels and exerts himself onto the locals. He also makes good use of his reputation where applicable (else why even have it). Currently, though, he thinks he runs Illistim and is part of an eclectic group of misfits there.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
-Imeara, for a personal reason. He also likes Niima for what she represents.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
-a perfect folded vultite falchion
-The blade of this falchion has been masterfully crafted and folded to appear like the waves of the ocean and is etched with the name, "Niima's Fury." The blade tapers into the tail of a mermaid, whose lithe body comprises the handle. Grasped between the sensual siren's hands is a single tear-cut deep blue mermaid's-tear sapphire. You notice a small enchanter's glyph and your crafting mark.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
-Sepher doesn't really live anywhere and hasn't since he was a child. He would pretty much go where ever he felt drawn to.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
-Eh, normal stuff. If something else, it would depend on what his plans involve (which are none of your damn business!).

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
-Long story, but basically being learning how to survive.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
-I want to say Sepher has existed for 14ish years? I couldn't even begin to tell you how he's changed. When I first started him, I didn't know what the hell I was doing. He certainly wasn't anything like he is now. He at one time was sort of a normal guy (though pretty delinquent) who thought he was going to marry the girl of his dreams. Beyond that, innumerable individuals and experiences have changed in as many ways, some positive and some negative, and he has become what he has become.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
-He doesn't even know.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
-I don't even know. It likely doesn't exist -- in fact, I wouldn't even want it to exist.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
-A very select few know him well. Lots know him to a partial degree.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
-Same as previous.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
-Almost never (I had to really think about doing this). I personally hate it when others tell me their story in an OOC manner. I don't want to know theirs in that way and I don't want them to know mine that way (which is why I'm being a bit vague here). I feel that knowing someone's story influences how I react to that character ICly, despite efforts toward the opposite. I feel that it prevents a truly genuine interaction, which is what I would prefer to have. I also tend to dislike scripted RP for this very reason.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
-Anything I've said is already public (or easily accessible), or I don't mind it being known. Regarding others' comments about their characters, I'm not terribly concerned about them influencing me since most of those characters have been familiar to me for quite some time.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
-Nope.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
-I have my tricks.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
-Mm, not to any great extent. Every once in a while I'll read or see something particularly cool and borrow some minor detail, but it doesn't seem to follow any rhyme or reason. I borrow from all types of characters, some quite the opposite of Sepher.

~Brian, Sepher's player

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name? Malisai Aumandor
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion? Male, 40, Sylvan, Lassaran D'ahranal, religon not telling but i think its obvious.
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why? Species due to his profession
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)Apostate of the Sylvan

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it? No
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character. Probably the most ticklish person in the lands
3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment? Neutral Evil
4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)Green, he compulsively collects green things now.
5) What is their favorite food? Winterberry Ale, Ale counts as food
6) What is their most treasured possession? His citizenship pin, the Rest is very important to him
7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution? Local Community (the Rest)
8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why? Aeia, then Voln
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it. A high-collared flowing velvet robe. This high collared robe has been expertly crafted from a fine brushed velvet. Deep burgundy in color, it is designed to flow loosely around the wearer and allow easy movement. Its broad tapering sleeves have been trimmed in a red and gold brocaded silk, which perfectly accents the gold threaded hawk stitched upon the left sleeve. Its hard to tell from the alter since im no good at that sort of thing but in my head I imagine something similar in style to what Elrond wore in LoTR, something regal to match his ego and opinion of himself.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now? He'd pick up the pieces and rebuild the Rest

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in? Besides sleep/eat, that is the time he works on his sorcery, He has a a rather large research facility under his out in the Rest.
2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives? in a padded room
3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up? His apprenticeship in the Art was cut short due to the death of his master so he decided the best way to learn what to do it himself. he experimented on the various creatures and people in the lands, stealing from the corpses to provide him with a comfortable life, which surprisingly was considered a normal way of life.
4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense? About 10 years. Malisai always had a big ego over the years he has grown into it. He has learned some self restraint as now when he makes a threat he stands a very good chance of killing someone if he doesnt, which he doesnt like to do most times as it causes fines and jail which wastes time. as he has gotten more powerful he does not randomly try to injure people as much. This was done for two reasons the first is that before if he cast a spell on someone chances were it wouldnt work and if it did wouldnt kill anyone, now a days thats different. he isnt capped but high enough that i have to be careful. RP wise this is fuffilled by his ego and his change in deity, I mean he is the Master Sorcerer of the Rest if he wanted to kill someone he could, but why step on an ant, its beneath you. The other thing is that what deity he follows and holds dear has changed as a result of the influence of the Rest. Originally he followed Marlu but slowly overtime that has changed, and in part has accounted for his mellowing and then you know he drank the water and apparently he was weak against it.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal? Summon a Greater Demon - a lesser goal is to throw some balefire directly in Luukos' eye
2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game? he summons a Greater Demon, commands it against a horde of invaders trying to destroy the rest. Single handedly defended the Rest and gets a free lifetime supply of winterberry ale.
3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.) It would be a tankard, Basically whenever he would need a drink a kobold would show up with a keg of Winterberry on its back, pour him a tankard, shower him with praise, and then take off.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are? Yes, although I do not think many of them know how much he struggles with the after effects of his worship of Marlu.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players? Some with maybe two people. For the most part iv played him long enough to know mostly.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.) it does not and i think thats how it should be unless in game there was something to give a hint or it was preplanned by the players.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is? IG - He hates being tickled, but apparently no one believes him when he says that. As the player i think its freaking hilarious and i hope it never stops. I think its a good test of his self control.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out? interact with them, for the most part unless its something huge about a character you need to regularly with them before you learn.
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character? Existing characters yes. Kirael, for others, Dighn was a HUGE influence on Malisai. Dighn was everything Malisai thought a sorcerer should be. Someone offended him he quickly corrected them with force, without guilt, and never made any excuses. Mekthros was in the Rest while Malisai was really low level. People feared him and to Malisai thats where he wanted to be. To display his power and use it to enforce his will, and have others too scared to do anything about it. Shakrean is where Malisai got his love of webs, and also his fear of wands. Shakrean is the one who taught him that if he tried to do things like Dighn and Mekthros, that Shak would kill him until he stopped. From that eventually learned self control. Other than that the entire community of the Rest is dear to him and helped him from following in Dighn and Mekthros' footsteps, well let me correct that, stop him from TRYING to follow in their footsteps. there is also this empath with a weird love of webs too......

For NPCs, Sankir......if you could bottle how much hate Malisai has for Sankir and the Krol you probably could weaponize it.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.

Player of Malisai

<Just about 10 years now. Menos has become, I think, a bit harsher and fatalistic in the last 10 years>

Ok I edit my last post, I find Menos to be an supurbly good example of a Vaalor elf. Very well played. Although as I think he well knows there is an unavoidable conflict coming. I expect it will be very interesting to see from all perspectives!

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Teveriel Anduin Vaalor

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Male, 331, Elf, Vaalor, Volnite.

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Volnite.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!) Teveriel has fought long and hard against the undead, and identifies quite strongly with Lorminstra's Demigod Paladin.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
No.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
He has a certain love for strong ale and mead.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Neutral Good, with heavy leanings towards Lawful.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Grey.

5) What is their favorite food?
Coleesta's marinated rolton strips.

6) What is their most treasured possession?
His grandfather's armour.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
Teveriel is deeply involved with the Order of Voln and will go out of his way to aid fellow members.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Lorminstra, as Lord Voln is her Paladin and she is the keeper of the Ebon Gate.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

a suit of heavy mail and plate armor
This suit of armor is forged of flawless silver-hued vultite plates and reinforced with a layer of double-linked mail to protect the joints. The plate pauldrons and cuirass are engraved with a subtle, sweeping pattern of intertwined dragonstalks. The underlying mail shirt reaches to mid-thigh, providing added defense to the more vulnerable areas between the breastplate and matching greaves.

The above plate is an antique, the very armor Teveriel's grandfather wore in service to House Vaalor. The intertwined dragonstalks are of the same pattern as his crest's family flourish; it is the sole ornamentation on an otherwise practical suit of armor.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
Likely one of the Voln monasteries. Perhaps even Elstreth, to serve at the House of the Paladin.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
Likely sleeping, facilitating the training of Voln initiates, or wandering outside town.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
Probably an officer in some military or another.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
General education and grooming for military service, as tradition dictates.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
For a little over 14 years now. Teveriel began as a very typical (I think) Vaalor soldier. This was before Ta'Illistim and Ta'Vaalor were in the game, so I played him in Wehnimer's Landing as a bodyguard for another elven PC who was a well-to-do Vaalor merchant. Looking back, I'm rather pleased with how the character turned out. His circumstances, being for all intents and purposes "trapped" in the frontier lands, caused him to overcome many of his prejudices, though I daresay a certain Vaalor pride remains. The Griffin Sword War shaped him even further, offering a chance to prove himself in worthy service to Ta'Vaalor, and ultimately effecting his conversion to a Paladin. More recently, retiring from the Vaalor military has opened a broader avenue of roleplay as a sort of "free agent" hunter of undead.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
Peace with oneself.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
To be given recognition for exemplary service to Voln - some manner of rank in the Order above "Master." (I don't see this ever happening.)

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
I tend to keep such things fairly simple, so I don't have any particular wish here. I'll be perfectly happy just getting my visor-scripted helm altered. :P

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
Teveriel is a bit reserved, so I doubt there are very many who do. Most who know him probably only see what is on the surface, or his reputation as a soldier in the Golden Hawks previously.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I'd like to think so.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
When it's necessary. I hope anyone roleplaying with me will feel free to ask such questions; sometimes an OOC whisper is all it takes to facilitate an awesome session of RP.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
I try not to assume too much on an OOC level.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
Teveriel is nothing if not adaptive, shaped by the events that have transpired in his life.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
Mostly through observation, but Teveriel isn't afraid to ask questions when he feels it warranted.

Society, deity, race, culture, profession, house/organization.

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Without hesitation.

What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
Converting from Warrior to Paladin.

Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
I'll have to be vague here: to save a certain person from their inevitable fate.

What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Undead. Deceit. Luukos.

What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
Dry wit, I'm told.

What is your character's favorite drink?
Mead; the stronger, the better.

Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
Yes, and it is... somewhat complicated.

Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
The library in Ta'Vaalor's Voln monastery. The monastery itself is actually rather quiet, especially ever since Sunfist was implemented, so it makes for a nice "secluded" spot despite my wish for it to not be so much.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Galenok Drakefang

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Male, 47, Giantman, Culture...Giantman/Northern Empire, Ronanite

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Male. (not that many folks actually answered the why part in depth) He's a man and very stereotypical of a Bond style character or was, before marriage. He has other focuses but being a man has generally directed his behavior first and all other things after.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!) Began as James Bond, now with a heavy dose of Balian de Ibelin.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
It's easiest to just say no.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
Was a court bard/spy.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Neutral good.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Black.

5) What is their favorite food?
Seafood in general and especially the lobster claws from Solhaven.

6) What is their most treasured possession?
His wedding band.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
The Drakes Vanguard then the Landing and Helden Hall.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Oleani. She's fertile, lush and sexy.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

a silver-strung nautilus shell locket
Strung from a simple silver chain is a nautilus shell wrapped in silver. Painted into the mother of pearl interior is the image of a sleeping maiden, her form laid out upon soft brown furs. Coppery tresses frame her features, which are lax in peaceful slumber. Wisps travel from her brow into a smoky cloud where a man fights off a sharp-toothed jackal, his broad shoulders bulging with the effort.

There appears to be something written on it.
In the Common language, it reads:
~ Dream Guardian ~

At this point, it's got some age. I miss Charna. This was just a remembrance of some RP from the Griffin Sword Saga ver 2.0 that was a gift.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
Somewhere along the Demonwall (Barret's Gorge or Brantur) or Mestanir, not that they have anything to do with each other.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
Quite a lot. Working for his father in the family shipping business and serving his Lord Ronan. Along with all the daily events that go with being married.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
He'd be a fire fighter...quite likely be in a band, too.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
Essentially, he was a spy.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
Over 14 years, if just. Well, his RP went from undefined to focused and has broadened out over the last few years. There's no doubt that three or four events impacted him quite significantly. The most recent being his marriage three years ago. Griffin Sword impacted him heavily...failed engagements and marriages long in the past. His service to Ronan is something ongoing but that I roleplay a bit less now than in the past. It's less of a driving focus and has simply become an part of whom he is.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
I am pretty sure it's sexual in nature.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Toss up, to become a knight in the OGS or sleep with the Argent Mirror. I set my sights high. One of those is less likely to happen while remaining married.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
A unicorn I could ride. Black as night with a silver mane and tail.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
To varying degrees. Lissanne probably understands almost all of it assuming some things are simply understood to occur, like deep emotional chats, while I am not logged in. I think many characters understand bits and pieces, the portions that Galenok chooses to share or make obvious to them.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I'm more likely to believe other characters understand more than their players, if that makes any sense. I think Elanthia is just a very different a place than Earth or specifically, America. I think the way we rp and the way life exists there makes player comprehension a bit less than our characters would grasp. Life is more fleeting...bonds are both stronger but shorter lived. Things seem to change in Elanthia at a pace we can't relate to as well. I think Galenok is less obvious than people think or even I portray him.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
Rarely. I don't mind doing so. Actually, I might enjoy it if it happened more often. If someone was confused, I would hope they might feel free to ask questions.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
I think players need more information some times than is presented to them in order to provide their own character with appropriate responses. You lack a lot of sensory input from text. Words can be misinterpreted. I find myself often confused by some characters' choices or actions. Some of that is a lack of interaction and history with a character but often it's just my the player not grasping something I think my character would.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
If I'm not getting it across, it's probably intentional. I think this is an area best handled one on one. I do know I could do a better job of being consistent and being more responsive to others. Also, I can tend to force my character's huggy feely touchy self on everyone. I like to think he's just overly friendly but I could see where people might wonder wtf this guy is lascivious. Once in a while he probably is lascivious.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
Usually through interaction. As a player, I'm not always certain I am willing to sink myself that deeply into roleplay at this stage of my GS career and find out. In the past, I might have a more intimate one on one to discuss things in depth. I'm not sure I'm that motivated as player now to find out. It takes significant effort and time can very much be a factor.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
I've made a couple known already, above. I'd hazard there are quite a few. Consciously, I simply go with Bond, James Bond and leave it at that. He's a bit less of James now than he was 5-6 years ago, though. I could see him slipping back into that but the chances are low. He's probably got a bit of Ned Stark in him, a bit of Van Helsing and more than a touch of Jean-Claude (the master vampire, not the martial artist).

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
5. If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
House/Organization, Deity, Society, Race, Profession, and Culture (in part due to his lack of it).

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Of course.

What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
It was rather personal and emotional. On a grander note, I would have to go with joining the Northern Fury twelve or so years ago. It's led, in part, to where he is now.

Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?
I can't see anything he'd throw his wife aside for. Since he's already married I can't see him needing a chance with her.

What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Well, these have changed over the years. Currently he obsesses about very little but certainly can't abide greater demons, Sheru or Luukos.

What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
My empathy and desire.

What is your character's favorite drink?
Coffee.

Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
Sure is. Married for three years and it's always complicated.

Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
Not overly. He spends a great deal of time in Wayside, but that's a product of how I play versus some roleplaying choice. Well, perhaps the latchable baths. The hot baths are very nice to relax in and soak in peace. It's one place I know I can escape to.

Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?
I said above that it was Charna. If I were to rephrase, perhaps she'd simply fill the largest void that any missing character would for him. As a player, I'd go with Mekthros. He was a fabulous anti-hero/villain.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Septimius Severan
2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Male, 609, Elven, Nalfein, loosely a follower of Gosaena (She generally stays uninvolved with Elanthia, so Septimius likes that)
3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Elf, his race is what largely defines him, his culture would likely be next.
4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
He is an Elven noble. (I think that really is enough said there.)

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
No.
2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
He is the only non-Vaalor elf that has access to Vaalor military titles.

Publicly, Neutral Lawful.

5) What is their favorite food?
Lobster and other shellfish.

Their second favorite may be Koar, because he is paralyzed and can't bother us.
9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.
a translucent black parazonium - Simple and forgetful.

13 or 14 years is when I rolled him up, although I haven't really started playing him until about 2 years ago. He has completely changed from my originally envisioning of him way back when, but no one really knew that character so I sorta just... changed to him what he is now.

1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?

Sometimes, sometimes not. He isn't a difficult character to really understand though.
2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I didn't say No! But I think I have been very open via OOC whispers about who/what my character is/stands for.
3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
I get ahead of the questions... Yes.
4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
Well, I do not want them to effect that at all. I only do it so as to help someone understand the correct tone inflections.
5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
Not particularly.
6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
Well, if I can't RP it out of them, but I am really interested OOCily: whisper ooc person Hey, tell me about this.
7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
Other than my character's name, not really.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
Race, Society, Culture, House/Organization, Profession, Deity

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
My character, probably. Would I have my character deleted as a player? No.

What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.
Death of his father and him taking over the family.

Yes.

What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?
Nothing more than anything else, really.

What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?
Indifference.

What is your character's favorite drink?
Severan Special, it is a drink at my private property that his family brews.

Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?
I'd hope my character is married to a specific NPC in the future.

Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?
Yes, my character's property. It is special because.... It is my property.

Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?
This character, no one really. As a player, I don't want to list them because I don't want to leave anyone out.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Hadya Kha'Taymullah

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female, she'd never tell and neither will I. Human and 1/4 sylvankind. Luukosian.

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?

Luukosian, hee that is funneh.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)

She is a Tehir priestess of Luukos

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?

No, she doesn't.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.

Hadya is not fond of water.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?

Lawful evil

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Copper and Viridian.

5) What is their favorite food?

Goat, goats milk and honeyed viper eggs.

6) What is their most treasured possession?

Her devotional ring.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?

None other, she dwells within her culture and religion.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?

Hadya's second favored Arkati would probably be Mularos.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

a carved copper asp ring: The ring is petite and is made to fit a slender finger. Oxidation has taken place between the intricately wrought scales, leaving a verdant hue and giving dimension to the polished surface of the scales. The ring is fashioned to look like an asp devouring its tail. Its cold, cruel stare is fashioned from two small emeralds which flash viridian fire when hit by the slightest light. Etched across the back as a stern reminder are the words "None for myself, all for The Great Serpent."

this is one of the first few alterations I had done for Hadya. It succinctly describes her zealotry.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?

The Sea of Fire

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
Praying, fasting, making offerings to Luukos. Indoctrinating others.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?

She'd be a priest or cleric in a major religion.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?

She lived with her tribe in the Sea of Fire.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?

Eight years now. She was once quiet and meek in her faith, she's grown bolder and her faith has pushed her to do things she never thought she would have been capable of.

1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?

To be one of Luukos' most favored servants and one day achieve Arch Lich status.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?

Hadya being named head of a temple of Luukos.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)

A temple.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?

No, a lot of the time I think people don't understand that Hadya is not one to break the laws of a city/territory/empire (she'll try like hell to get around it, of course.). Hadya isn't one to really strike physically, and she'll protect the interests of her Order (if that means killing a bad guy who threatens her God's dominance, she'll help out the good guy.). She has a deep respect for anyone who follows the path of their god even if they are her enemy, You will never find Hadya defacing another god's temple or holy place, she doesn't feel such disrespect should ever be practiced friend or foe.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?

Yes, I think players would.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
Sometimes, with people I consider close friends.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)

I think it is fun to talk about your character's with other players and vice versa. It is amazing how much backstory a character will have but you'll never get to hear about it in-game.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?

That my character is in fact lawful evil, and she will never, ever stray and break laws. She considers those that do to be uncouth and brutish, and only considers it needed when there is no other course.

Hekat from the Karen Miller novel Empress. I think Hekat's zealotry is something I drew from when playing Hadya.

FINALLY:
1) Add another question to the list. Yes, oh survey answerers, you must answer these additional questions.
If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?

Deity, Profession, House, Culture, Society, Race.

Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permament death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
My character, probably. Would I have my character deleted as a player?

If it meant saving Luukos? She would do it in a heartbeat.

What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

Helping to bring back Morvule was her most important event, she labored for years to see that come to pass. She has felt more confident in her path... She has proven to herself and to others that she is willing to give all of herself to her faith.

Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

To become one of Luukos' favored servants? She'd throw everything to the winds for that.

What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

She doesn't like Voln, she doesn't like large bodies of water and she likes to collect ropes.

What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

I am stubborn and loyal, Hadya has those quality.

What is your character's favorite drink?

Goat's milk.

Is your character in a relationship? Yes, but she has made it clear that he will always be second to Luukos, Luukos takes precedence.

Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?

Any of Luukos' shrines.

Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?

She misses Laakshmi the most. I miss Laakshmi!

Okay, this is late to the party, and it's taken me about an hour to write, but here goes ...

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?

For my lead character, Bevan Ravenswing.

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?

Male, 2508 years old, Ashrim elf, venerates Niima and Eissa. (That’d be Lorminstra, to you post-Ice Age whippersnappers.)

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? Why?

Interesting. I could say being Ashrim, but that’s really a backstory and color thing: Bevan’s connected with the sea hard and fast. But what really guides the roleplay is his age, both IC and OOC. He’s seen too much, done too much, experienced too much. The loved ones, family and friends who are just names of the distant past number in the HUNDREDS, by now. The sheer weight of it all is oppressive.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me.

He’s drifting out to sea, figuratively if not literally, without moorings.

5. If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?

Culture (Ashrim), Profession (Bard), Race (Elf), Deity (Niima/Eissa), House (Twilight).

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?

Yes. I’m faintly surprised that only two people have ever asked.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.

“Bevan” is not, in point of fact, his real name. Only about four people ever knew that, either.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?

To be honest, I’ve always felt the concept of “alignment” to be the most poisonous and pernicious element the wargamers who started RPGs stuck us with. I’m afraid that I pass. If you know Bevan well, you can make your own judgments.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)

Purple.

5) What is their favorite food?

He likes fish, of course, but has a sneaking fondness for Tehiri cuisine. He is never willingly without black tea.

6) What is their most treasured possession?

This is a damn tough question. He’s owned the same shaalk sword since his first few months in the game, and still prizes the altered, pocketed cloak from his first GS wedding (the Ice Age being a time when pocketed cloaks were rare items). He’s fiercely protective of his animated music stand, which has the soul of a puppy inside it. But if you forced me to pick, it’d be his crystalline lute, which is Gemstone’s first altered musical instrument. (Long story.)

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?

To his family.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?

Lady Winter. Death, and the abolition of memory, is something much on his mind.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

“a deep purple coin” This is nothing special; it’s just a dyed flipping coin. But it was a present to Bevan at his first wedding, back in Ice Age days, from a friend who was so poor that was about what he could afford. It has been on Bevan’s person for eighteen years now. He’s rather like that.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?

Easy; on the deck of his trading schooner Brilliant, out to sea.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time you’re not logged in?

When I’m taking a long break, he’s out to sea. Otherwise? Looking after his youngest children, who are ten and nine years old, respectively.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?

He’d probably be retired from the merchant marine, and doing the coffeehouse circuit singing nautical folk songs.

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?

Being genuinely happy, without any shadows, for the last time in his life.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?

I’ve been playing this character for 21 years now. He has changed immensely in that time, in ways I’d need an essay to relate. It’s been a source of grim amusement to me for about a decade now how many people seem to feel that Bevan’s stories about himself are somehow backstory. Not a single damn word of it: every anecdote I tell happened to the character, no fooling, sometime during gameplay.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?

To have a do-over on his entire career.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?

See #1. Alternately, to wake up and find himself in Kulthea again.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)

Let’s make his lute a master-class, familiar-summoning one, ‘kay?

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?

I feel that a great many characters think they understand Bevan a lot better than they actually do.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?

Beats me. I’m not a mindreader, although the degree people are spending their precious gaming time psychoanalyzing Bevan is, I figure, limited.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?

Yes. (Well, consider this survey; obviously.)

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)

They don’t. They're OOC. Mixing IC and OOC is bad.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?

He’s lonely and tired ... the notion of dragging himself up the psychic cliff yet again, only to fall off, as always is the case, that’s daunting. Why do I think that is? Honestly, we’re only going to invest so much into figuring out how other characters tick. Beyond close friends and loved ones, few people - understandably - bother.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?

None that stick out in my mind.

ADDITIONALS

1) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)

My CHARACTER would, yes; he’s got an innate martyr complex. His player wouldn’t, ever. Honestly, the very premise of GSSII dismayed and disgusted me; I felt it cheapened and invalidated the labor and sacrifice of all us original questers - quite aside from contributing to the ruin of Solhaven as a center for RP - but drove home the point that any such sacrifice is good only until the next crisis. How many Armageddons have we had in GS, so far?

2) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

A private ritual with several players to save Tanager’s soul. It put Bevan on the path to destruction, and things have never been the same since.

3) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

Possibly: a real, permanent romance, with someone that matched him well. Convincing him it wasn't a chimera or wish-fulfillment would be another matter.

4) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

He dislikes discourtesy. He despises most loresingers these days; the “sing to me your value in this land / sing to me your purpose in this land / sing to me your ability in this land” hacks drive him up the wall, and he’s not in the least degree mollified that many of them do it now in Guildspeak. He loves helping out newcomers and teaching people. Tea, massages and hot tubs are important.

5) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

I’m a lifelong musician; my characters tend to be performers.

6) Does your character have natural siblings?

Yes, but they’re many centuries dead.

7) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?

Nominally; he has two wives. The player of one’s mostly in Plat these days, and they have a ten minute pleasant chat once every several months. The player of the other left the game five years ago. He’s a very lonely elf, but the GS of these days seems less conducive to relationships than ever.

8) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?

A couple of places; the Tea Room in his shop in Solhaven, one of the Pinefar area ice caves, the Widow’s Walk of the Niima cathedral in Solhaven. They’re all places he can meditate, in relative quiet.

9) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?

The character? His daughter Tanri, who more than anyone else, I think, he loved and trusted unreservedly. The player? I miss Morgause’s and Lael’s players; much may have been different if they didn’t leave the game. And, always, I miss Taylir’s, Wanton’s and Kali’s players. They all three passed far, far too young.

Damn, thats depressing.

I love those. I'm glad one is in the hand of someone who cares about it.

I've been distantly observing the casual friendship you have been developing with Lizythia, and its tremendously painful to imagine that feeling, and the feeling that its not even worth it.

I'm glad you shared this stuff, its given me a lot to consider, and gives me a lot of perspective on you.

Why, thank you.

Honestly, I admit that Bevan isn't always fun to play, and my Icemule bard in particular was my stab at a relatively angst-free character. (Yeah, nice try, Robert.) Still, like any other addict, I keep coming back to the persona ... for as long as I can handle it, at least.

That being said, I think I left out my additional question, if anyone wants to take a whack at it. To wit:

* What was the greatest mistake your character ever made?

some shadowy black wings
These wings are slick to the touch and extremly long, with arched tips that end in sinuous claws which can be made to grasp in the middle, bringing the wings closed. Along the ridges are small runes, which look to be painfully cut deep into the wings that lead to the apex, where a symbol of a silver-bladed scimitar on a field of crimson has been deeply burned.
These were the first item I paid a mil for and already altered, and was the day I decided to give Telsas a history of being part demon. Story goes these started to grow once she secretly in the night slipped away from Ta'Vaalor to the Landing.

8) What is your character's favorite drink?

Added in #12 that I missed above.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Geijon Khyree

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Male. In his prime. Giantman. T'Kirem. Liabo with veneration for Koar, Kai, and Voln.

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Male.

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
I think he's a bit like Braveharts William Wallace (Film) Impulsive at times, but of good qualities.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
Never gave it any thought.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
He can dance.

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Neutral Good.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
White.

5) What is their favorite food?
Turkey Legs (The Ren fest kind)

6) What is their most treasured possession?
White Laen Broadsword. He loans it out a lot nowdays, but it remains the item he probably connects with most.

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
House Phoenix.

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Koar as the patriarch type figure and due to the lineage for the Arkati he does follow.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

1- a capacious black canvas backpack (Godefroy designed this. It's just very organic)
Fine threads of veniom give a faint shimmer to the coal black backpack. Large and sturdy, the container is neatly divided into four compartments, each fitted with a small shield carved from mother-of-pearl. Gak wool and rolton hide dyed the same midnight hue pad the straps to ensure maximum comfort, even on a long trek.

2 - some spiked black alloy platemail embellished with a ruby encrusted phoenix (It's just a strong representation of all hisvalues in one item)
Expertly crafted, the phoenix is set in such a way that it appears to be ablaze as it swirls in regalia amidst the gold leaf. Upon the pauldrons, unmarked and polished, the white shield of Voln is carefully inlaid in pearl. Though somewhat scuffed and battered, the black color of the armor remains true. The joints have been cared for meticulously, their function still fluid and strong.

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
The Demonwall.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
I'd say he reads & writes, runs errands, keeps his armor and weapons in order, then does administrative work for the organizations he's involved in and tries to keep engaged with the citizens of the city.

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
I think he'd be a Wrestler actually in the grain of the Rock, Macho Man, and CM Punk types. (Yep, I went there)

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
I think he was among role-models who would shape his later career and mindset among the giantmen clans.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
Geijon was the 2nd version. I played Geion as his uncle from 93-95 (retroactively). Geijon is from July 1995 or so. He's more patient and probably less naive than when I began. He also settled into more of a veteran warrior as opposed to being all over the place when he was younger style wise.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
Ensure free will and natural order within the world.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Destroy Luukos or Mularos to eradicate the source of the Unlife and/or Demonic archtypes in Elanthia. These two seem like good targets.

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
I'd take the Griffin Sword re-forged. I think it would add all sorts of cool story options to him to explore including the One Ring aspect.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
I'd say so. He's straightforward and he's been around so long he has a large body of past actions to dictate what he'd do.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I think players have a tendancy to simplify Geijon when he's far more complex than they see outwardly. I'd say not always here.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
Occasionally. It comes up in AIM in this medium and sometimes during hypothetical storyline scenario's in-game.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
I think people have a good understanding of what to expect from Geijon and those he interacts with or know of him feel he's played consistently so these discussions don't have a major impact on their interactions. They simply re-affirm or ground how he acts to them.

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
I can't say I do on this one. This seems to effect Lornon types more. I do get frustrated that we can't always react approprietely to actions of other players though.

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
I tend to observe. Eventually Geijon will just challenge them on something. As a player I try to respect boundries and only react according to actions portrayed in the world.

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
I'll go with actors on this one. Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, and Ken Watanabe or Chow-Yun Fat. Apply their movie characters here and it goes a hodge-podge of influence.

FINALLY:
>1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their
Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?
House, Profession, Voln Organization, Diety, Race, Culture.

>2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)

He would.

>3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

I'd have to say the Second Griffin Sword War, even though it wasn't during any of my playing peaks.

>4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

I don't think he's lacking. My answer to this would be people and his relationships. As he'd not throw these away lightly, including his death, he'd fight to maintain them.

>5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

He's not a fan of haughty elven types. He finds them hypocritical when their self-worth is exaggerated and they have a high level of entitlement. Entitlement mindedness in general is a big pet peave of his. You only are owed what you earn through merit. I wouldn't call him obsessed, but he always fights the good fight when an enemy presents itself.

>6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

Probably my straight-forwardness. Bits of my humor and sarcasm, but not as much.

>7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character? If applicable, why are/aren’t they adventuring with you?

Have to go with no on this one. He had character siblings, but they've gone seperate ways/no longer play.

8) What is your character's favorite drink?

Demon Rum from Teras.

9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?

He's married to Evialla since about 1997 so 15 years. He wasn't fond of ceremony or the act of getting married, but he's devoted to what it represents. This isn't much different than my own opinion, although my wedding was fantastic. I wouldn't see him having another relationship like this.

10) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?

He'll sit in the Phoenix Library. Voln's Courtyard. Kai's or Ronan's Shrine.

11) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?

I'd say Gaq on both accounts.

12) Are there any existing characters in game that have influenced the development of my characters?

Berr (His style), Gaq (his comraderie and friendship), Aonghus (his/her organization spark), Ruffelin (Gryphon mentor and his way of life), Cryheart (a bit of everything here), and Waldo2 (Civil servant of a House organization and his consistency) were/are some of the biggest. Odd that they are all Warriors, but not really the reason of their influence.

Added in #12 that I missed above.

BASICS:
1) What is your character's name?
Vasudha

2) Gender? Age? Species? Culture? Religion?
Female, Ancient, Rosengift Forest Gnome, and... technically she worships Luukos.

3) Of the 5 things mentioned in #2, which do you think informs your roleplay the most? (IE - if you had to describe your character in ONE word, would it be 'elf' or 'Luukosian'?) Why?
Ok, she doesn't ACT like it, but her culture definitely informs her roleplay the most. You'd have to know more to see why that makes sense ;)

4) I'll give you more than one word. I'll give you a sentence. Define your character in a single sentence for me. (Pretend this is a long description. 12 word limit, no run-ons and inappropriate use of commas!)
Vasudha is the kind of creature you wish stayed under the rock from which she came.

RANDOMNESS:
1) Does your character have a middle name? What is it?
No, but she has several other "first names." Gnome, It, Thing, Grandmother, Xaza, Monster, and... heh. Lady.

2) Give me a random fun fact about your character.
She loves fish

3) Let's pretend this is D&D. What's your character's alignment?
Chaotic Evil.

4) What color do you most associate with your character? (Doesn't have to be their favorite, per say.)
Purple

5) What is their favorite food?
Anything raw

6) What is their most treasured possession?
Her "Third Voice" ;)

7) What do you think their most important societal associations are outside of race/culture/religion? Their local community? Another particular institution?
Eh.... she doesn't really have any. The sorcerer's guild, maybe, but I wouldn't say she's loyal to it or anything. She just wants to brew poisons. ;)

8) You may have mentioned their preferred Arkati above? But, this is a polytheistic society. Which is their second favored Arkati? Why?
Technically she follows Luukos, but in truth, she's pretty twisted. If I were an outsider looking at her, I'd say several have their claws in her (Sheru and Mularos most likely. Maybe Zelia if you got to know her). She's too far removed from society to actually understand organized religion, however, so any "following" is entirely unintentional.

9) Show us an alteration you own. Something personal. Tell us about it.

A heavy wrought-iron shackle: Trailing the shackle is a segment of sturdy iron chain with a badly bent and broken final link. Upon closer inspection, tiny teeth marks become apparent along the surface of the chain, as though someone or something has spent a significant amount of time gnawing on its length.

It's story is a supersecret. >.<

So another one instead...

A grimy glass bottle suspended from a thick chain of corroded copper.

It's an altered perfume holder. Vasudha believes smelling good is very important. Go on. Smell her sometime and you'll see ;)

10) KABOOM! I have blown up all of the existing towns. Where would your character live now?
A cave or someplace underground.

LIFE:
1) What does your character do during all of the time your're not logged in?
She works on her "experiments"

2) If your character existed in the boring, real world, what do you think they'd do with their lives?
I'd like to hope she'd be safely locked away somewhere... but who knows. Everyone loves a gnome. ;)

3) What was your character doing with their life BEFORE you rolled them up?
Living in a hole.

4) How long have you been playing your character for? How have they changed over that time in the RP sense?
I don't really know, but it's been a few years. Originally she was more fearful of others. That's certainly changed.

FANTASY:
1) What is your character's ultimate wish or goal?
To be able to create undead and for them to be completely devoted to her.

2) What would be the ultimate awesome "thing" that could happen to your character in game?
Animate Dead. >.<

3) What would your dream RP prop for your character be? (Alteration and item rules are out the window. Go crazy, folks.)
I suppose some sort of grisly half-alive mixed-body-part abomination would be excellent.

IG/OOG:
1) Do you feel that other CHARACTERS understand your character and who they are?
Uhm. Peepz gave her the name "Grandmother." I remember once having Vasudha "experiment" on one of the NPC children in the north market and everyone laughing hysterically. I think they get she's crazy, but not necessarily that she's as twisted (and quite frankly evil) as she is.

2) No? But do you think that other PLAYERS might understand behind the scenes?
I'm not sure. I think she gets written off as silly sometimes, which is fine. It works to her advantage. Bwahaha.

3) Do you ever talk about your character, their psychology, or their motivations OOCly with other players?
I tend to do this more with my other characters than with Vasudha... and when I do it with Vasudha, it's usually with people that IG haven't really interacted with her much.

4) How do these discussions (if applicable) inform your interactions with others? (Whether regarding what you've said about your character or what others have said about theirs.)
Since they're usually people that don't have characters that interact with Vasudha, it doesn't have much impact

5) Is there something about your character that you want other players/characters to understand, but you just can't seem to get across? Why do you think that is?
I dunno. I'd like for someone to get into the reason behind the way Vasudha is the way she is. I think it's hard for other characters to piece it together because 1) Vasudha doesn't talk about it a lot and 2) Unless you understand her... um.. language, a lot of the time when she explains something it's hard to tell what's real and what isn't (which is how she's supposed to come off anyway).

6) If you want to know more about what's making a character tick, how are you going to go about finding out?
Vasudha cares absolutely nothing for how other characters tick, with the possible exception of her "Third Voice." That would require her to have an empathetic bone in her body, which she does not. Though I will say that if she thinks someone could be useful, she'll pretend quite convincingly to care about what is being said.

Now... as a PLAYER, if I'm curious about someone else, I'll be more likely to try to engage them in RP. Interesting characters are fun to play with :)

7) Are there any existing fictional characters that you think have particularly influenced your development of your character?
The witch from the Costner version of Robin Hood.

FINALLY:
>1) If your character had to choose between their Race, their Culture, their Diety, their Profession, their
Society, their House/Organization, what would be the order of priority?

Profession, profession, profession, profession, "Voices"/deity

>2) Would your character offer themselves to save the world? (In a realistic, permanent death scenario, which meant this character was lost forever)
Save the world? No. Accomplish her goals? Yes.

>3) What is the single most important event that you have played your character through that shaped them after? This could be a worldwide storyline event or even as small as a personal rp event.

When she met her "Third" and became a follower of Luukos. It massively emboldened her.

>4) Is there anything so dear to your character that they would 'throw everything to the winds' for a chance at?

She did something once that she sometimes wishes she could undo.

>5) What are your character's pet hates and obsessions?

Hates: Sweet foods and manna bread ;) Obsessions: Smells and poisons

>6) What part of yourself tends to leak into most of your characters?

I don't know. I guess my love of RP makes me interact with some people sometimes that it might be slightly OOC to do so. Basically, if I think there's gonna be an RP opportunity, I'm going to try to strike up an interaction (good or bad) every time. ;)

>7) Does your character have natural siblings? How did the siblings/lack thereof affect your character?
None

8) What is your character's favorite drink?

Phlegm.

9) Is your character in a relationship? If so, for how long, and what sort of relationship (long-term friends-with-benefits, married, complicated, etc.)? If not, do you see any sort of relationship in the future, or is your character not a relationship sort of type?

Haha.

She is diminutive and appears to be burdened with age.
She has beady purple eyes and sallow skin.
She has baby-fine, frizzy steel grey hair with large, random patches of exposed scalp.
She has a wrinkled face, a crooked nose and a hunched back.
She has cracked, pasty white lips framing a sparse set of misaligned yellow teeth.

What do you think?

10) Does your character have a special place they like to go when they want to be alone? What makes this place so special?

Not particularly.

11) Which character does your character miss (preferably the most), assuming it's one that no longer is in the game or able to be interacted with? As a player, which do you miss?

Missed Hadya for a while, but she's back now so happyfaceforthewin

12) Are there any existing characters in game that have influenced the development of my characters?

Menx, Pogy, Hadya a long time ago. More recently, Nauriel and Nihrvana(fixation much?), and Gnarevo for helping her to gather a following in Vaalor

13) What is your biggest frustration (either ICly or OOCly) when playing this character?
Vasudha's kind of an in-your-face character. It can be draining to play her and keep up her constant antics, so I can't see her ever becoming a "main." That said, I don't think I could ever get rid of her either.
