Was there any consensus on how long it should take in the more realistic side of Elanthia we never experience as players?

There's no distance scales in the modern lore or cartography. In the archaic history the Darkstone Bay region is roughly 300 by 300 miles, which is about twice the size of New York State. (The Lysierian Hills was a couple hundred miles from the Landing.) If you kept that distance scale and assume the map of Elanith is proporationate, the walk to Ta'Illistim from Solhaven should be something like 1,000 miles and Ta'Vaalor a few hundred more, which is about the distance from New York City to Miami.
That's a little more than half the length of the Appalachian Trail (2,200 miles), which takes people on average five to seven months to walk. So the guided tour from Solhaven to Ta'Vaalor should take maybe three or four months. When you look at it that way airships and Chronomages make a lot more sense.

You may not explain with a sentence ending in a question mark.

Well, the mine cart rides throw the whole thing up in the air, but considering it must be downhill both ways it makes no sense anyway.
