Dhe'nar raical verbs broken? on 09/09/2019 09:31 AM CDT

I posted this in another folder, but I'm not sure it was the correct one, so I'll cross post it here also. There are 5 verbs that are specific for the Dhe'nar,
Steeple, Point, Stare, Smirk and Raise Eyebrow. I was testing them out with some friends, and apparently only Steeple and Smirk are currently working. The other
three seem to be broken; they work the same as for any common race. Can someone look into this? Thanks.

"So, what does that green line on the graph represent?"
"Oh, that's the projection of a hypothetical offspring from a union between Sauron and Cruella de Ville;
we use that as a baseline for determining character alignment."

They aren't broken.

Steeple - STEEPLE alone works for everyone as is; there are also a few extra common options. There are several extra options for Dark Elves. These can be found via STEEPLE HELP.

For the others, you need to use the SET option. A lot of information for these can be found under VERB INFO <VERB>, but they are set with the following syntax:

<VERB> SET

For example: RAISE SET

AH! I see what I was doing wrong. When using the set command, Dark Elf has to be hyphenated. Like so: set stare dark-elf. I was leaving out the hyphen, doh!

It actually doesn't need to be hyphenated, but you've got it in the wrong order if you're doing it by way of the example you just used.

It's not SET STARE *DARK ELF*

It's STARE SET *DARK ELF*

>stare set

OK, I typed it backwards in that post, but in the game I did it correctly, and everything worked fine except raise eyebrows.

Here is what it's SUPPOSED to look like:
You arch a skeptical eyebrow, pondering whether your amusement with the world outweighs your disgust.

Here is what actually happens:
>raise eyebrow set dark-elven
You give your eyebrow a little workout.

This is the same generic result that EVERYBODY get when they raise their eyebrows. It doesn't seem to be working, possibly because the command is a compound.

"So, what does that green line on the graph represent?"
"Oh, that's the projection of a hypothetical offspring from a union between Sauron and Cruella de Ville;
we use that as a baseline for determining character alignment."

No you set the option first.

So, RAISE SET DARK ELF

Then, raise eyebrow.

For me it's dark-elven, not dark-elf, possibly because I'm using lich. Apparently it wasn't working for me because I was using the compound form of the command: Raise eyebrow, not just raise. OK, raise alone DOES work. Thanks for the clarification.

Both dark-elven and dark elf work. I'm glad you got it sorted out!

Also, on my own, I would never have guessed that the phrasing was simply "raise"; raise to me always had an object ... raise fist, raise to activate a magic item, etc. It was rather confusing.
