All are invited to join the Enclave at the Spire on the 24th to create art and converse. We will be having models and people will have a chance to sketch/draw/whatnot the model and then compare and contrast their work with everyone else. This is an informal event and just for fun and everyone is invited. At the end of the night we shall put forth a challenge to all comers, if they wish to participate, to create a single or multiple scenes depicting important events throughout Faendryl history. These will not be due on the 24th, but can be submitted any time up to our next meeting on the 5th. We will be saving these designs in the hope of utilizing them for a future project at the Spire. Contact myself, Japhrimel, or Aeavenne for more details on this event, the contest, and anything else.

The Setting:
[Alabaster Spire, Lounge]
A low ceiling and an assortment of overstuffed chairs scattered throughout the room give the lounge an intimate ambiance. An ornate Faendryl crest hangs above the massive black marble fireplace that dominates one end of the room. Opposite the fireplace is a dart board fancifully painted with ravens and griffins. A gleaming ebonwood bar accented with rhimar spans the length of the room, an open humidor left forgotten at one end. You also see a white marble stairway, a thick oak door, a basket of sticks and a short flight of steps.

The Model:
You see Lady Lylia Rashere the Sorceress.
She appears to be a Dark Elf.
She is taller than average and appears to be in the spring of life. She has beautifully charcoal-outlined wide-set cloud grey eyes and fair skin. She has waist-length, thick auburn hair brushed straight and smooth beneath a regal silver headpiece of slender spikes arranged in a spiny halo.
She is in good shape.
She is holding a small dark plum in her right hand and an intricate clockwork staff tipped with a tapered black opal shard in her left hand.
She is wearing a choker of overlapping jet and hematite petals, a black-tipped silver fox wrap lined with ebon charmeuse, an ombre gown of silver spangles darkening into fluted jet beads, a doubled bracelet of openwork onyx beads with a scrolled silver clasp, a ruby and silver wedding band, a silk-lined leather gem pouch, and a pair of low-heeled silver sandals laced with black ribbon.

Abrimel:
[A lone stick figure stands tall in the center of the page, its simple, lineaer body crowned with a large circle that serves as the head. Within the circle are two messy, ink-blotted eyes that rest above a crooked line - a squiggle that can be mistaken for nothing other than a rakish grin. A shaded triangle sprouting a crooked feather sits atop its head. Standing in a triumphant pose, the man's little arms are bent to rest on non-existant hips, while one of its legs is raised to sit upon the head of a second figure. The second stick figure appears to be laying on the ground, its long, scribbled hair extending out from its head in all directions, partially covering the two large X's that serve as eyes. Underneath the fallen comrade is a blocky script that reads: JApHRimEL tHE LAdy KiLLER]

Vailwyn:
The picture overall is very dark, various shades of black and gray blended into background and foreground. A dying ember burns in the fireplace just bright enough to be the focal point of the page. Glints of ruby and silver can be distinguished from the sea of darkness in no particular pattern. The faintest outline of a feminine figure can be seen with the harsher strokes, but the colors are too monochromatic to make out any particular details. Small silver spires reach upwards in a seemingly chaotic effort to escape the top of the vellum.

Japhrimel:
Crudely drawn in a stilted, amateurish hand is a depiction of what appears to be a parlor or lounge. Off to one side rests a bar with copious amounts of bottles drawn onto it, for example. Set prominently in the center of the drawing is a large fireplace, roaring flames within it. Standing before the fireplace stands a single figure, one hand clasping an intricate staff that extends up past the tip of the head. The other hand holds a rounded ball of some sort that is held in front of the face, obscuring the figure's features. Clearly sketched are the details of a sparkly, twinkling gown and, below them, overly detailed sandals. Partially erased, but still visible are small notes about making a similar pair of sandals. Around the edges are doodles of foxes and large chested women interspersed with random notes and comments.

Rowmi:
Centered on the page is a crude, four-lined stick figure, topped with a lopsided circle. Haphazard spikes radiate from the circle in all directions. The figure holds another circle, this one smudged, a single curved line protruding from the top, giving it the barest hint of fruit-like life. Along the margins are notes scribbled in messy, birdlike, confused script, "Five Schools; Older, Classicism? Nostalgia. Naturalism. Iconoclast-negative/positive. Romance! Reminder: ask about the plum."

Aetammel:
A mass of inky scribbles, badly smudged and blurred, suggest only the vaguest allusion towards a bipedal humanoid figure... if one squints just right, in poor lighting, and has a fertile imagination besides.

However, an extremely faithful reproduction of a clockwork staff stands out from the mess, scribed in meticulous detail.

Several large, blatant drips of ink disgrace the bottom of the page.

I had so much fun with this last night! Let me know when the next event's going to be, please; this time, I want to try it out as a participant.

Loved everyone's artworks, too -- it was cool to see how each person interpreted the challenge of "drawing" with words and how each artist expressed something of himself/herself in the sketch.

Also, this exchange tickled me:

Aeavenne asks, "Any questions?"

You survey the area.

Rowmi raises his hand.

You say, "Is this about the plum?"

Rowmi's cheeks flush with a soft pale rose shade, darkening his freckles even more.

(Rowmi lowers his hand.)

Wish I could have made it, it looked like a lot of fun! The interpretations were all intriguingly diverse and very amusing but I think Aetammel was my favourite.
