Re: The Faendryl and the Ithzir on 04/12/2016 10:38 PM CDT
Edited down to cut out a lot of extras - apologies if I missed anything.
Aurach softly says, "Good evening Faendryl, guests."
Aurach softly says, "All Glory and Honor the Patriarch."
Aurach bows.
Aurach softly says, "For those unfamliar with me, I am Blade Aurach the Palestra, Wanderer of Mahkra, Night Druid of Isil Dae'gonn, of House Moonshadew Old Ta'Faendryl"."
Aurach softly says, "I would like to thank the Enclave for this invitation."
Aurach nods respectfully.
Aurach softly says, "I have been asked to speak tonight on the topic of the Ithzir. I doubt there is little I can offer the Faendryl present."
Aurach softly says, "But for our guests, let me relate the time period we speak of and how the Ithzir came to now patrol the lands of old Ta'Faendryl."
Aurach softly says, "At the end of the war against Despana, or the Undead War. Unsenis Ignaas Faendryl was the ninth and final Patriarch and acknowledged leader of all the Elven houses."
Aurach softly says, "For a number of years the other Elven houses politicized and feigned outrage, while they were all secretly relieved the war was ended."
Aurach softly says, "Once Patriarch Unsenis Ignaas Faendryl died however...."
Aurach softly says, "The other Elven houses used his death as a catalyst to exile House Faendryl to the ruined land of Rhoska-Tor for their actions ending the Undead War."
Aurach softly says, "The house of Faendryl continued to think they were going to politically resume the role of Elven Leadership at this point."
Aurach softly says, "So the exile was not immediate, it took some time, that is important to know."."
Aurach softly says, "Now, this was a devastating period of history, the lands in scorched ruin, all the races exhausted and having suffered crippling losses."
Aurach ponders.
Aurach softly says, "Now, his successor accepted the exile with the intent to return some day. We were still by most at the time hailed as the saviors of the lands of Elanthia."
Aurach smiles faintly.
Aurach softly says, "Faendryl had historically led and unified the Elven houses, and without our leadership, the other houses fell to greater political infighting and bickering. While the politicians fought, the Elven Empire crumbled. Instead of working together, the houses withdrew their forces from the outlying territories and served only themselves."
Aurach softly says, "Having protected the lesser races for many thousands of years, the lack of support threw the continent into disorder, and within a century, chaos fell upon the lands."
Aurach softly says, "Even though the Undead War brought nothing but horror upon the world, in the backs of the minds of those involved there was a sense that it all could have been worse if Despana had won. The thought that if this terrible dark age was victory, that losing the war would have been unimaginably worse. The heroes of the Undead War would be hailed for the rest of history for preventing such a terrible fate from occurring."
Aurach softly says, "All Glory and Honor to Patriarch Unsenis Ignaas Faendryl."
Aurach softly says, "So, after our attempt at reunification through marriage was sabotaged and the Ashrim conflict was concluded, the Elven houses proposed bansishment from Ta'Faendryl entirely."
Aurach softly says, "Now, I wish to accept on behalf of my companion Wolfloner, his invitation for a short, trip... at this point."

[Alabaster Spire, Great Hall]
Narrow stained glass windows pierce soaring despanal-veined alabaster walls in this expansive hall. Each window's colorful design casts its own pattern on the barrel-vaulted ceiling to create a complex, kaleidoscopic play of light. On the east side of the hall, an ebonwood lectern stands at the center of a small stage. Art-lined alcoves around the room create conversation spaces while leaving a central expanse of inlaid stone open for dancing or large gatherings. You also see the Rolfard disk, an animated ethereal mining foreman, the Winowitch disk, the Eshielle disk, a bright-eyed auburn weasel, the Ordim disk, a smoldering fire wyrdling, the Bengar disk, the Hona disk, the Aurach disk, a varnished pale oak cart with some stuff on it, an ebonwood doorway and a delicate porcelain urn.

Aurach softly says, "To show you, some 'era' relevant artwork."
Wolfloner says, "Water walking would be useful."
Aurach softly says, "I also wish to ..... state clearly.. now..."
Aurach softly says, "So that all understand, where we wre going to 'you are responsibile for your own actions'."
You say, "We will be coming back to continue this, following, for any who do not wish to brave this part."
Aurach softly says, "Do act in accordance with due respect to our host."
[Much joining, spelling up, queries of "wait, we're swimming?" and then walking off as a big group]
Wolfloner's group just went through an arch.
[Monastery, Great Hall]
Arcading arches open up into a large octagonal hall with ashen stone walls stretching up to an elaborately painted ceiling. Long rectangular flags of silver-trimmed black silk hang from thin steel rods that jut out from each side. A polished ash table is perched on a raised platform with two granite tables coupled with chairs flanking each end. An obsidian slab hearth fills the open side of the arrangement. You also see an oak door.

Wolfloner glances at a ceiling.
J>look ceil
An enormous mural has been painted onto the ceiling, four segments detailing a different scene. The first scene portrays a lifeless Faendryl woman laying on the deck of a ship, a Nalfein hidden in the mast's shadow. The second scene depicts a seated monarch and three kneeling Faendryl noblewomen, tears on their cheeks. The third illustrates two flotillas, one of House Ashrim and the other of House Faendryl, and the fourth mural shows four islands beneath an ominous smoke-filled sky.
Wolfloner says, "Please take a moment to look at the ceiling."
Wolfloner says, "Some of the elves believe that the soul of the Ashrim are trapped within the Gale Stone, also know as the Eye of Ta'Ashrim and Star of Khar'ta."
Wolfloner says, "Zyndur believed it."
Wolfloner says, "He was obsessed with it."
Wolfloner says, "If that is true..."
Wolfloner says, "The the souls of the isle of Kezmon also remain trapped within it."
Aurach softly says, "And perhaps other cultures."
Wolfloner says, "And perhaps even those who perished during the destruction of Bir'Mahallah within what is now know as the Sea of Fire."
Wolfloner says, "The threat we face is very real."
Wolfloner says, "Also consider..."
Wolfloner says, "The presence of extra planar beings."
Wolfloner says, "And rumors very disturbing..."
Wolfloner says, "Chaston Griffin using the Everblood of Drangnell to give the appearance of being a immortal himself."
Wolfloner says, "The ground we tread now has been tread by others in history, it is not entirely unknown, but it is no less dangerous."
Wolfloner says, "Hard to know which threat the more immediate, who might be an ally or foe."
Aurach softly says, "Thank you Wolf, we are very fortunate you were able to come this evening."

(Aurach counts heads.)
Aurach softly says, "I think we have all.."
Aurach softly asks, "I think we have all.. arrived?"
Aurach nods respectfully.
Aurach softly says, "At this point, the Clerisy was responsible for "salting the earth" of old Ta'Faendryl, calling the Ithzir into our world, and leaving the land taken from us unusable by our traitorous cousins. It is and was, both the greatest and worst accomplishment of the Clerisy by order of the Patriarch"."
Aurach softly says, "Now, whether the Ithzir were present as summoned allies during this period of time or whether they were summoned after the battle of Ashrim, I know not. They currently patrol the lands of Old Ta'Faendryl, attacking and then scavenging the corpses of any that fall there."
Aurach softly says, "I do know that the Faendryl were certainly aware of their presence before the exile."
Aurach softly says, "As regards the barrier surrounding the lands of Old Ta'Faendryl and containing the Ithzir within, how it came to be placed and by whom, I have only rumors to offer."
Aurach softly says, "One that other Elven houses in order to keep the Ithzir within placed it around, much as they did Shadowguard."
Aurach softly says, "Or that the Faendryl placed it, leaving the Ithzir as guardians to keep others away from their homes before the exile, and the Ithir contained.."
Aurach softly says, "As we all are aware, there are many factions of Ithzir, this one ahs remained within the old city."
Aurach softly says, "Those two versions are however from fireside tales from my father and grandfather, as we patrolled at the end of the 3rd Elven war, during the great route, and my memory is not always clear of those times, for they were intense and tragic."
Aurach softly says, "It matters little at this point, only that the barrier exists, and only those of great personal willpower may pass it and enter the ancient city of Ta Faendryl."
Aurach softly says, "There have been other incidents since the exile of Ithzir involvment in the lands of Elanthia, but this is not the time to delve into those activities."
Aurach softly says, "But I would ask us to bear in mind that recently, Blade Aralyte Halanori Faendryl the Palestra, leading the attack on a shadow valence where Althedeus was defeated, was left behind while the rest of the group escaped back to Elanthia."
Aurach softly says, "Many were with her or in the landing defending it."
Aurach softly says, "She is presumed to have survived, but her condition and whereabouts following the attack are unknown. She was known to have spoken phrases of Ithzir and was seen with them during this attack."
Aurach softly says, "Now, as for the Ithzir themselves."
Aurach softly says, "The Scouts are the first to be encountered typically. They will even push as far as the edge of the barrier itself on Gyldaemar road. They seem to watch for any attempting to reach the aged portal that skips over the swamps and broken scorched grounds to the city itself."
Aurach softly says, "As we have seen with this new group, the scouts came first."
Aurach softly says, "They have wide, pupil-less green eyes. They move fluidly as seasoned stalkers, in a half-crouch that is as graceful as it is lightning fast. The Ithzir scout are slightly taller than a human, with a hairless, blue-skinned body, alien in appearance. They wear unadorned charcoal grey tunics."
They wear unadorned charcoal grey tunics."."
Aurach softly says, "The scouts are accomplished ambushers that will sweep, or a cheapshot to the throat at times. They can be found using various weapons, typically a broadsword style, but the most fearsome is those that have crystal-edged blades that flare lightning. Even a scratch can lead to devastating wounds and death."
Aurach removes a gleaming crystal-edged longsword from in the Aurach disk.
Aurach gives his disk a flip that sends it spinning end over end, dumping everything inside onto the ground by his side.
Aurach softly says, "Hands some weapons out."
(Aurach hands some weapons out.)
Someone makes a purring sound nearby.
Aurach softly says, "Staying always alert with weapon at the ready at all times is your best defense. They are very formidible, perhaps comparable to the Illoke Jarls of Elanthia."
Aurach softly says, "The Initiates are blue skinned also, all having pupil-less green eyes. They wear a crisply-cut, blue tunic with a green palm-print emblazoned on the right breast."
Aurach's eyes suddenly flash with a verdant glow.
Aurach softly says, "You will most likely however notice their magical fire burst attacks before getting close enough to observe their attire. They are also known to cast a crimson mist, Do not gaze into the mist.... you will suffer serious eye wounds and will be reeling from the experience."
Aurach softly says, "We have not seen this mist used in the landing battles, be alert for it."
Aurach softly says, "The Initiates can cast a sanctuary in the area and raise the Ithzir fallen. I tend to target them first if I need to deal with their companions. They seem about as formidible as the scouts, but with more magical protections than outright physical defenses. Web, bind and most cleric offensive spells are also utilized."
Aurach softly says, "Ithzir warriors, the Jannisary wear a crisply-cut silvery blue tunic emblazoned with a feline silhouette on the right breast."
Aurach softly says, "They are not Roblar, but they are resiliant to most attacks."
Aurach smiles faintly.
Aurach softly says, "They have rudimentary style attacks, tripping, fearsome battle cries, and are very skilled at disarming opponents. They wear heavy armor and are typical of our Elanthia warriors in method."
[people play with the crystal-bladed weapons during discussion]
Aurach softly says, "The Heralds will have a trio of black tattooed stripes running from the center of the forehead and over the crown of their bald, blue-skinned head. They wear a fine silvery-blue tunic crossed with a green tabard."
Aurach softly says, "Of major concern to you is a small silvery disc, which they will toss into the air. They will then focus their voice on the disc, it will quickly expand to about three feet across and begins revolving rapidly around them. Do not 'physically attack' the herald. You will lose an arm and perhaps your life. This is the most fearsome of the Ithzir defenses that I have witnessed."
Aurach softly says, "We have not seen the heralds or discs yet in this new Ithzir faction, let us hope we do not."
Aurach softly says, "The heralds are very similar to our bards of Elanthia, using their voice as a weapon. Sleep, Disruption, Rage, Depression, elemental waves, all are options to the Herald. They will also utilize a spartan blade as well. Once again, be wary of those carrying crystal-edged weapons."
Aurach softly says, "The heralds also have a nasty tendency to cast elemental dispels."
Aurach softly says, "As we have seen the new faction has been dispelling and major ewaving with fearsome effect."
Aurach softly says, "The Adepts wear a crisply-cut, silvery-blue tunic with high shoulders and a deep vee-neck. Emblazoned on the right breast of the tunic is a single green eye."
Aurach softly says, "Ithzir Adepts are wizards, and tend to cast bolt spells, as well as Weapon Fire. Their defenses are also the highest of any Ithzir. Using maneuvers or other methods to bring them down is highly reccomended."
Aurach softly says, "And the Seers, they appear to be authority figures of the Ithzir. They wear a crisply-cut, silvery-blue tunic with high shoulders and a deep vee-neck. Emblazoned on the right breast of the tunic is a twelve-pointed golden star. They also, do not suffer from any form of stuns."
Aurach softly says, "The seers have many options to them. They can manipulate items and throw them across the room with their minds. A very effective attack. They can sanctuary the region and raise their fallen. They can web, spiritually dispell, silence, Bone shatter, cast Fire bolts, and have a Psionic stun that can effect you with a simple glance. The seers are not to be trifled with."
Aurach softly says, "As we have seen with the faction in the last weeks, the seers are much more formidible than those in the old city."
Aurach softly says, "We focus on them as a group when we face them."
Aurach softly says, "The ithzir are extra planar in origin and have a unique ability to fade on our plane of existance. Some feel they fade to a sanctuary, where they can rest for a time. I have noticed they return with the wounds they departed with. Once they have faded, they can return quickly, or remain gone for a lengthy period of time. If they fade from your attack, they will return anywhere you move to in the city of Old Ta'Faendryl. The seers and are known for reappearing and casting dispels immediately. If they simply fade of their own accord, they will return to the location they faded."
Aurach softly says, "I have yet to be able to find out if they will track us if they fade from an attack here.."
Aurach softly says, "So far we have limited them to small areas when they come... that we know of."
Aurach softly says, "I will also mention that all Ithzir have rudimentary ability in thrown weapons and will from time to time just throw anything at hand."
Aurach softly says, "Now, the Ithzir we have faced in the landing are more challenging than those I have fought in the old city. These Scouts appear to have learned to manipulate and cast major elemental waves, as well as the seers seem much more powerfull casters, exhibiting rapid fire dispelling and major elemental waves as well. These Ithzir are also incredibly reistant to attack and take dozens of weapon strikes to bring down."
Aurach softly says, "I will leave you with this final thought from the Palestra academy Mahkra."
Aurach softly says, ""Strength of heart, strength of mind, and strength of spirit. Our discipline rules all worlds."."
Aurach nods respectfully.
Aurach softly asks, "Is the mayor here?"
Aurach raises an eyebrow.
Aurach narrows his eyes in concentration as he taps his pursed lips idly with one forefinger.
Wolfloner says, "Not yet."
Aurach softly says, "Very well, I will open the floor to any questions, and then if any wish ... the mayor was trying to come to do a recap of the last few weeks activities."
Aurach softly asks, "Is there anyone, that would feel comfortable speaking on the last weeks activities and what we have been seeing?"
Aurach softly says, "I have, veyr rough comments I wrote down running from the nations only prepared."
Aurach inclines his ear, listening intently.
Lylia says, "A pity Dergoatean is not here."
Aurach softly says, "Agreed."
Aurach softly says, "I had hoped to have an overview on where we are on the language issues."
Wolfloner asks, "I assume from accounts that some inroads have been made concerning the ithzir language?"
Kayse lightly comments, "He seems to be making a lot of progress. It's impressive."
Speaking to Aurach, Eshielle says, "Last I heard, Goat and a few others had sussed out somewhere around 20 words, and had prepared a few inquiring phrases should we encounter Ran'lock again."
Aurach nods at Wolfloner.
Aurach nods at Eshielle.
Aurach softly says, "Excellent, effort."
Wolfloner asks, "Are all the ithzir hostile?"
Aurach softly says, "No."
Aurach softly says, "We know of at least one, that has made communication attempts."
You say, "Traditionally those found in OTF are, but recent events indicate otherwise.. so if you're in OTF, do feel free to assume they're probably hostile."
Aurach softly says, "And 'either the same one' or another that has healed and raised one of us."
You say, "I don't want anyone running in there and trying to hug a herald..."
Rolfard raspily asks, "Anyway to identify this less than hostile character?"
Aurach softly says, "Any questions, please ask, and any that wish to respond, please do so..."
Dampf asks, "Does Ithzir has leaders?"
Wolfloner says, "It is well know that the ithzir of the old home of the Faendryl are hostile. I was curious about those found in and around the Reach."
Aurach softly says, "Well, the Seers are typically leading."
Aurach softly says, "We have one, that attempted communication but it was from deep mists and almost barely touching realms."
Kayse says, "Some have had a few experiencecs of them tapping into our personal memories and touching us. None have been killed or injured from that, save for being shook up emotionally."
Aurach softly says, "We also, know that they seem to check, each of us at times by touching the backs of our necks."
Aurach nods at Kayse.
Talinvor asks, "A mark?"
Eshielle says, "We believe, and this is all speculative and based on some guesses in language, mind you, that there are at least two Ithzir factions and accompanying leaders in the area. One led by one known as Kol'Tarsken, who is apparently the Ithzir attempting to make a union of power with Grishom Stone, and Ran'lock, who we believe to be the face of some kind of resistance movement."
Ordim asks, "Are they looing for something ? Maybe trying to understand ?"
Speaking to Eshielle, Dampf asks, "Ithzir fights each other?"
Aurach softly says, "Not that we have seen, yet."
Speaking to Dampf, Eshielle says, "We haven't seen any combat, only suggestions that there are opposing points of view."
Speaking to Dampf, Rowmi says, "They may just be as fractured as our world--we fight each other constantly."
Dampf asks, "But is potential for infighting?"
Speaking to Dampf, Rowmi says, "There is potential for infighting among any sentient group of people."
Aurach softly says, "We believe the one faction,"
Talinvor says, "So, Kol'Tarsken is.. Arcane Eyes..? I somehow recollect that group, but the memory is vague."
Aurach softly says, "That has gained power has been slowly testing the blood magic and anything else they have learned."
Aurach softly says, "Elemental fire, mentally commanding individuals."
Lylia says, "And then there was the child that bled blue blood."
Jaxamicus asks, "Is there any confirmation that their realm is watched over by the same Arkati we know and love?"
Aurach softly says, "Blood fusions in children, to carry cross realms creatures as hosts."
Speaking to Jaxamicus, Lylia says, "Now that is a fascinating question. I had not thought to ask, but how interesting."
Lylia says, "If we can work on the language barrier a bit, perhaps that is something to ask."
Kayse adds, "One individual has had a crystal inserted into her neck by the Ithzir, we are not sure what it does yet and for her safety we can't remove it."
Aurach nods at Lylia.
You say, "I had hoped the crystal might allow for communication, when I heard about it."
Eshielle lightly comments, "Remove it, squish her head back on, call an empath and a cleric. Problem solved."
Ordim says, "Cunning crystal causes calculated calamity crushing curious characters."
Speaking to you, Rowmi says, "We are still hoping that."
Hapenlok says, "Apologies to all, folks. i still have some lingering effects due to the poison....and my soul nearly being separated from my body."
Hapenlok says, "I've been asleep on the job."
Speaking to Aurach, Eshielle asks, "May I interject one point?"
You ask, "Any other questions? Comments? Inquiries into current events that we might be able to go into more detail on?"
Dampf says, "I has question."
Hapenlok says, "All i can say, is that the ithzir seemed to like him."
Hapenlok points at Aurach.
Aurach's eyes suddenly flash with a verdant glow.
Aurach winks at Hapenlok.
Lylia says, "It is more a matter of having too many questions than too few. The Ithzir are a people whom few felt they needed to understand before a fortnight ago."
Jaxamicus asks, "Do we know if the Handorans, or Protelens, etc, have been in any contact with these Ithzir?"
Dampf asks, "When Ithzir attacks, does they has strategy?"
Speaking to Lylia, you say, "Which is a shame, I've always been curious about them and their language."
Speaking to you, Hapenlok says, "As have i. but usually they're busy trying to kill me while speaking it."
Lylia says, "The Hendorans, that is, the men from Hendor -- they were taken, along with their outpost. Protelen, the erstwhile mayor of Icemule, on the other hand -- I do not know if there is a connection there."
Lylia nods to you.
Eshielle says, "I doubt very much that Protelen cares what is happening down here."
Speaking to Lylia, Hapenlok says, "As i've understood it, they've got their own....'research' occuring on the Glacier."
Speaking to Dampf, you say, "Based on what we've generally seen in OTF they will assist each other to some degree.. raising, spells and the like.. but I've not yet seen them do anything more complex. Current events might indicate otherwise."
Aurach softly says, "I have lived among them, as long as any. They work as any typical military unit. They will aid their fallen, drag them from harm, cast defensive spells on each other. They can become rather unified when stirred."
Aurach nods to you.
Speaking to Aurach, Hapenlok asks, "Suppose that's why they cured you, then?"
Lylia says, "I would have thought so too, but something strange did happen the other night in Icemule. Experiments involving some kind of cylinders. They echoed something I had heard mentioned here -- visions of cylinders of blue blood. Obviously, there are many things that are cylindrical, and sometimes a cylinder really is just a cylinder, but...one does wonder."
Aurach raises an eyebrow in Hapenlok's direction.
Speaking softly to Hapenlok, Aurach says, "I have not yet determined why they aided me."
Speaking to Aurach, Hapenlok says, "I just woke up. i don't know if you told them yet."
Speaking to you, Dampf asks, "Is show they has strategy, maybe we learns how to counter?"
You say, "Maybe."
Speaking to Aurach, Dampf asks, "They helps you? I not knows this. I asks what happen?"
Hapenlok says, "I've ingested more than my fair share of poisons, that was most likely the worst i've ever had."
Speaking softly to Hapenlok, Aurach says, "Several assumed the ithzir took you for a kobold or somesuch."
Aurach winks at Hapenlok.
Speaking softly to Dampf, Aurach says, "Please ask Hapenlok, his view was more clear at the time."
Speaking to Lylia, Kayse says, "Protelen also sent an asssassin to try and kill the Mayor Pup. The frozen brambles is his doing as well. I was told in Icemule someone heard him say he wants to take over the Landing as well, but I'm not sure how much of that is speculation."
You say, "Well, let me take this moment to thank Aurach for coming out and talking about the Ithzir with us tonight.. when we had originally planned this there weren't any issues in the Landing, so this has been very serendipitous.. and thank you also to Wolfloner for showing us the mural."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Dampf asks, "Yous remember what happens to Aurach?"
Speaking to Aurach, Berkana says, "Thank you for sharing with us."
Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "He was here the other night. Got rather testy and claimed I tried to poison him with a rose. Madness."
Aurach softly says, "Thank you all."
Speaking to Dampf, Hapenlok says, "Well, to put it as brifely as i can, when the instability started, we went up to the reach."
Speaking to Lylia, Berkana asks, "Well, do you blame him for suspecting?"
Speaking to Aurach, Lylia says, "Indeed -- your talk could not have been more timely or more interesting."
Speaking quietly to Aurach, Rowmi says, "Well spoken, Blade."
Aurach nods respectfully.
Speaking to Berkana, Lylia says, "Well, I did not expect the man to eat it."
Speaking to Dampf, Eshielle interrupts, "They got poisoned and the Ithzir only raised one of them."
Dampf says, "Ahh."
Dampf nods at Eshielle.
Dampf says, "Thank yous."
Speaking to Dampf, Hapenlok says, "One thing leads to another, poison gas is introduced, and ....you know. we both die."
Jaxamicus asks, "Is the crystal in the neck the same stuff that edges the weapons?"
You ask, "Who, other than Cruxophim, looks at a black rose and their first thought is to eat it?"
Speaking to Dampf, Hapenlok says, "I heard one word, "Koh!" and Aurach is moving about. and ...."
Speaking softly to Jaxamicus, Aurach says, "Excellent question, I do not know."
Speaking to Jaxamicus, Rowmi says, "Unknown."
Eshielle expectantly asks, "If there was nothing else, then?"
Speaking to Hapenlok, Dampf says, "Ooh they speaks magic words."
Speaking to Hapenlok, Dampf says, "Thank yous for explaining to me."
Hapenlok says, "We also heard lasindriel, apparently at the moment the crystal was inserted into her neck."
[then people leaving and randomish chit chat]
