To be clear, the only requirement for doing this is, "to be a member in good standing."?
(Specifically, the character need not have any actual AdvGuild bounty points built up. Just a badge to get in, an Enhancive, and a stack of silvers, correct?)

It's not a commitment at all, it's gaming the system.

I have less than no interest in doing Bounty tasks.

She means there is no "joining" the guild. No badge needed either, unless you wanted to charge it.

It is completely optional.

Someone can sail across the open ocean, set foot upon our continent for the first time ever, wander into an adventurers guild and have an item recharged for silver without even speaking our language.

Also, if you do choose to acquire and wear a badge, they can be hidden underneath your clothing these days (so no one has to know except you and the guild person that gave it to you).

Um, the above was because I also was slow to change and bother with enhancives (and have since reverted to owning but not using them via Enhancive Off, but a nice option when needed).

You should still try it just for the additional and alternative experience learned, the saturated mind state, extra coins and additional silver stream from bounty points (not as good as it was but more is more).

You can also share tasks and have fun group bounties and it may assign you to places you may not bother exploring otherwise.

It has been one of the great additions to the game, IMO.
