Ok, as some may remember, I heavily into alchemy and had been a Master of the Wizard Guild (though I need to round up some active Masters now to get reinstated again!). I know many folks abhor alchemy, but I find the entire system quite charming, once you get outside the grind to master each discipline that is. It is a daunting task that many folks simply refuse to even consider trying it (because it is really boring at times!) and the end result seems to cost more the silver than it will bring in. Well, except for some really nice potions and such, but the process of gathering rare ingredients for alchemy formulas (recipes, by most folks, but that sounds too much like baking!) is to me part of the fun.
It ain't fun when you are hunting them pristine nymph hairs for the oh 1 in 20+ rare drop from one when you are a level 50+ character, but roll up a new level 1 "grummager" (see I remember!) to run through there and before ye know it you have a level 5-10 character and manage to collect sufficient quantities of them to get you to the next level of alchemy difficulty.
I have been researching Virilneus' site (wonderful resource there!) and attempting to relearn and reacquaint myself with it again. My lingering question here though, is anybody at all interested in alchemy anymore? Are there still folks along the path to Mastering one, two, or all three of them? Are folks, once they Master a discipline and become Guildmaster ever bother going back into the Guild except to get materials from the guild shop, or check in regularly to keep their membership up to date?
I have found of late either 2 things when I GLD RANK ALL and spot at least a member in the room. They are rank ZERO, or are INACTIVE, if they do not simply refuse to reveal that info altogether. I have yet to find a Master, but I will keep looking in hopes of gathering 2 of you in the same realm and awake to take a walk and have a chat with Keplar. ;)

To answer your question, yes, I have several characters working on alchemy, at least one in each pure guild (I know, masochistic of me, isn't it?). They move very slowly because, having so many characters, I do not play any one of them that much, but each one does 3-4 tasks each time I log him on, so they are still active.

That's good to know! Do you happen to have a Guildmaster in any of them? I know I was planning on something along the same lines, but only focusing on perhaps a cleric or an empath, and sticking with mastering all 3 disciplines in the wizard guild sometime in next decade or so. Hehe!

Its my personal experience that there are more Sorcerer Alchemists than the other three classes. Two reasons why that may be: One, because Illusions, its easier to be invested in a more complete guild, and Two, Sorcerers are more used to the nonsense and carrying junk, and just kind of . . . have accepted their fate.
There are definitely some people out there in all professions though, but it will be hard meeting up with them.

No, sorry. My cleric is getting close to mastering general alchemy. Most of them have in the neighborhood of 80 total ranks. Slow but sure . . .

I am in the process of collecting as much data on the subject to set up a multi-relational database on alchemy formulas and the ingredients needed for them. Currently I am using both virilneus and krakiipedia as my source of data. I am about half way through cataloging all the known formulas (recipes? this ain't culinary arts, pal!) and will begin to verify many of my theories in alchemy.

Faulkil has mastered alchemy and still practices it regularly. I also have a cleric that is "on the path". I've recently (last 2 months or so) started doing alchemy research in the wizards guild again as well.

I am presuming you are a Guildmaster in the Wizards Guild as well. If so, do you know of any other Guildmasters who regularly reside around the Landing? Or of any other members that are eligible for Master? I am hoping to be able to gather TWO to be reinstated as a Master eventually. Though trying to find ANYBODY in the guild actually practicing alchemy, or active in guild at all has been met with minimal success.
Though truth to be told, I do not know who is still in the guild, AND are active Guildmasters. Krakiipedia shows only about 10-12 folks that have ever made it, with ME being on that list. I dare say that not all of those folks are around anymore, thus making it nearly impossible to get even 2 Masters together in the same realm. Add in the fact that it seems that most folks abhor alchemy (it is not really that bad!) and will never even make the attempt to get enough ranks to become a Master themselves.
I am more than willing to assist any young budding alchemist looking to do just that.

I've never bothered to become a guildmaster of the guild but since I meet the qualifications and so would be able to assist in nominating you and would probably look to become a guildmaster myself at the same time. I should be back in Icemule within the next few days.
Any other guildmasters in the area willing to assist both Zizzle and I in becoming guildmasters?
Zizzle,
Why not post a couple of days/times over the upcoming weekend that you would be available and let's see if anyone else would be available at the same time? I am available most of this coming weekend with advance notice. Also post the same in the wizards general discussion folder since it may get more visibility there.

I can be available most days between 9pm-11pm EST. Often even earlier, if I can keep my wife off my back. ;) On the weekends, I can be available in the earlier hours between 7am-9am EST. So if we can plan in advance, I will certainly do my best to make the appointed time.

I'm mastered and still active if you can catch me around.
Sagoth
We are planning on a meeting in the Landing's Wizard Guild on Thursday (tomorrow) at 9:30pm EST. Faulkil has a friend (I do not know if this is you are not!) coming from Teras to help meet the quorum of at least 3 members of 125 ranks or Guildmaster present to nominate and promote both me (Zizzle) and Faulkil to Mastership. Wouldn't hurt to have another Master present in case one of us cannot make it for some reason. Though I suspect that Faulkil and I will be there for certain. ;)
Where do you normally to run around, Sagoth? I'll probably put out calls on the amunet starting around 9:00pm or so in attempts to gather everybody. Or send out a familiar to try and locate you. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
