Could the GMs please consider allowing wizards to enchant these items via alchemy potions, much like sanctified and enhancive items? Even if capped at 4x, it would be nice to be able to improve these items to a decent level. In order to avoid feature creep, just have it add to the primary DS. No need to be adding to TD or defender properties.

I can't really see them allowing this.
I'd like to have it, but not sure it fits for a few reasons. Partially because I can't ever see them letting alchemy potions allow padded/weighted items to be enchanted, and TD/Defender items are pretty similar for power balance and reason purposes. Mainly though, and it cuts into Premium Point Perks and pay event profits.

I agree that it is more powerful than something like Sanctify enchantments, but I do wish that it was possible up to at least 4x. It could be balanced by being extremely difficult to do. Remember also that there is a risk for enchanting for destroying or otherwise damaging the item. That lone would deter people from pushing too far with too valuable of equipment.
And honestly, I do not believe premium point perks should be a consideration when balancing player mechanics. It is a perk, not sovereign territory to be protected like class abilities.

I agree mostly.
However, Simu is always interested in making money. Premium is one of the ways they make money (along with pay events of course). Devaluing PP isn't in their best interest.

Players enchanting TD gear could still work in their favor in that regard. Find a crappy piece of gear with a +10 TD bonus. Not too habby at all. Enchant it to 5x. You'd love to go further, but you just can't as it's too difficult.
What do you do now? Premium points.
As it stands now. If the thing you find is a +2 DS, +10 TD shield, what are you going to do with it? Spend a ton of PPs to get it to 5x? No. You'll likely just pawn it.

I do not understand what would be "balanced" if wizards were allowed to enchant items as you are suggesting. But, I'm definitely curious what you meant. Please clarify this point? This is for the sake of my own curiosity.

How is it balanced to allow them to enchant sanctified or especially enhancive items? Should we start fearing a nerf coming down the line to these areas?
As to how it would not be unbalanced, please see my previous examples. I hope you're not suggesting that having 4-5x items with defender qualities are unbalanced. Especially as the normal bonus rolling off the treasure system is like +5-7. The difficulty of obtaining the potions as well as the difficulty of the actual enchant are both means of keeping the spell balanced.
