So we all know getting companions to attack is hard enough task to do so it's a bit annoying that when my companion is finally all in kill mode and there are 3 live creatures in the room and 1 with an arrow sticking out of it's eye that she chooses to do....
A tan-furred dark blue-eyed raccoon sniffs at the corpse of a Grimswarm orc archer.
And waste her entire round sniffing a corpse of something I already killed instead of attempting to gnaw the face off another orc. Can we have this action removed if there is anything alive in the room?

Totally agree that this is very annoying.
It is sad that for now I keep my companion around primarily for Role-playing. However, while doing bandits, my ranger does get stunned from time to time and immediately my animal companion attacks.
Actually she does quite well and does draw some attacks to her versus my ranger while he is stunned.

Some how my companion is right on me in town or wandering, I cant even give it the slip hiding anymore. However soon as I get in the woods I am often stunned and on the ground before she even walks in the room. Of course because I got stunned before she came in the room, she just sits there an watches until I get hit again. I also agree the sniffing of the corpse is a rather pointless action other then to tell me that she wont even eat a wild animal that she or I killed. That she has to have prepared or butchered meats.
Also telling your companion to guard is almost just as useless as it only works in the room you told it to guard you. So unless your planning to stay in one place an hunt there for a while, including the 30 seconds or so the companion takes to move to guard you, its not of much use. Its good for invasions if your guarding a spot alone, but there are too many things that go wrong when I have my companion out during a mass attack with crowds around.

While awesome, I wouldn't call 640 a profession defining spell. I tend to compare 630 to demon summoning and animate dead, and I think both of those are better spells in that they do what they are supposed to do with a fair degree of reliability. Animal Companions are little more than an RP tool. Given the current design paradigm of the game that seems to want to give everyone a few slim options when stunned/incapacitated, I think the retaliation feature of AC's should be emphasized. I frankly don't know how reliable it is though since my ranger so rarely gets stunned (and when I do and it's bad I just sigil of escape).
One thing I would like to see on companions is the ability to /tell companion fight, or something like that, and have the companion automatically attack my target. I have it aliased but I always forget because he misses 75% of the time so I usually don't bother. Shrug. My ranger still rocks, and it's a great class with excellent dev, but I think 630 could use some tweaks.
