After about hmmm. 12 years of having Whisp she has finally reached her 30th training and can begin to reach out for her companion. I just spent about two hours reading the posts from early 2011 until present. I see that many of the things you asked for were responded to and that is great and makes things much better for me. I appreciate all that those who came before me have done to make things better for those of us just on the brink of getting our companions.
Thank you for all the helpful tips and information from both Rangers and GM's.
I hope that in the future I too can contribute.

Congrats on getting your ranger to 30 trains. At least for Pup getting to befriend his Animal Companion is one of his favorite moments in his little history. If you are in the landing area and need any help or have any questions look up Pup. He will be glad to help you in anyway with your companion. Also once you finally choose one come here and tell us.

Thank you! it is wonderful after playing since GEnie days to still be excited about aspects of the game. To experience your Characters delight is still a wonderful thing for me. And It was a delight for Whisp and me to experience her getting her companion.
Glad to not be jaded

<< ...how to get him to feed on his own.
If you type TELL COMPANION, the game will tell you all of the commands available. I'm sure you'll figure it out!
Sadly, our companions feel that herbs are included in the food chain, so you may want to keep an eye on what's on the ground, especially in nodes where empaths are working. Emapths are funny about having their herbs eaten ;)
