Because my friend wont post this.
But I would like them to come up with a list. 6, 10, whatever, possible idle scripts for each companion type. New companions start with the default set, but you can toggle whichever three or four or whatever that you want for your specific companion. They still fire at random. It just lets you set up a slightly more unique personality for your companion.

>has this been asked about for Rtcf? I believe there are going to be custom scripts and verbs available as minor services? could this include custom companion scripts for rangers?
The custom object scripts available at RtCF is its own script. It is referred to as EZScript, and is the same as the premium benefit. It has to go on an unscripted object, so ranger companions are right out as they already run off a script.
This sort of update would have to be made to the companion scripts themselves. As the player of a ranger with an avian companion, it's an expansion I would love to see, but not one that my team deals with. If I take on another out-of-team pet project, I have a feeling my supervisor will drive 500 miles to punch me.
But what new messages would you all like to see?

What about modifying the companion script to allow a custom emote (or several, added one per service)? Then it can become a service for rangers to look for. We have companion grooming, but it'd be nice to have something else, too.

You inhale deeply upon your pipe, puckering your lips as you send out three rings of smoke before you, then puff out a small vine of smoke that darts right through all three which causes them to disperse in a hazy shroud!

Including a custom emote as part of grooming is a good idea, too, and I don't see the two hypothetical expansions as mutually exclusive. If there is a change, I would want to see more messaging available to all to help alleviate the repetetiveness. Plus, making suggestions early on might result in free messaging perfect for you and your companion!

Hold a ranger contest with some alters (or grooming) as a prize and get people to send in 2 custom messages for each companion type, maybe?
A couple ideas in any case:
Canine, Awake: "The (short description of companion) pricks its ears and then roots around for a moment. You hear a hushed squeal and (companion) licks (possessive) jaws."
Avian, Landed: "The (avian) stretches its wings wide and flaps powerfully, raising a small cloud. (Pronoun) then settles back down looking pleased with itself."
