Found this on a scroll about a half hour ago, and someone else found it in a wand... looks like something new.

It was listed as Mystic Impedance under the "spell active" verb when we were waving the wand around. Any idea what it does?

Here are shots of it starting and melting:

In spell active it shows up as Mystic ImpedAnce. Typo in the spell name.

And it didn't last more than a couple minutes tops.

Didn't seem to actually stick when waved at someone else. It did however seem to work when cast on a critter. Don't have a paste handy though.

Has anyone checked their CS while under the influence of this? It sounds like the opposite of Mystic Focus to me, so I would guess it is a CS penalty when casting under the influence of it.

Just did some testing with Kerl's infused 1708 scroll. It seems that mystic impedance prevents the target from casting any spells over a certain level for the entire duration (3 minutes) with no visible warding check. The level of spell affected is determined by the casters arcane symbols ranks (casting from a scroll, at least).

At 30 AS ranks, it prevented any spells of 15th level or higher from being cast.
At 72 AS ranks, it prevented any spells of 12th level or higher from being cast.
At 101 AS ranks, it blocked any spells of 11th level or higher.
At 202 AS ranks, the target could not cast any spell of 7th level or higher.

Pretty awesome.
