So if you have nothing in your right hand, and the bow in the left, it has a chance to be disarmed? Or it can only be disarmed if you hold the bot in your left hand?

It can be disarmed. I think resolution occurs right to left -- so if you have an arrow, it goes first, then the bow if the right hand is empty.

But the bow can definitely be stripped -- I've had it happen multiple times.

do we use our bows/xbows to parry with or is that reserved to the arrow? when i wspec, its in arrow.

since i don't use my bow to parry with, why is it disarmable? lets make bows NOT disarmable (like a shield)

Quick question - when you're holding both an arrow and a bow, which gets disarmed?

If you hold a bow in your left hand and an arrow in your right. The arrow will be disarmed first.

You can also attack with a bow in a crunch. Making it a viable weapon fitting to be disarmed.

Yep, thought I remembered. Although I don't know anyone will ever surpass the BriarFox for attacking with the bow. Heh.

I'd have to agree, it disarms for the reason E put up, and the workaround is what Zh (can I call you that, Zhelas? Seems to be the sorcerer vogue. ;) put up.

It works really well, actually. You can still swing with a broken arm and sighting is treated as weighting when you use the bow as a melee weapon:

You quickly reach toward your dark leather quiver. Tiny tendrils of eldritch crimson energy coalesce into a multi-hued spiral painted arrow with a drakar tip. The shaft streaks from the dark leather quiver into your waiting hand.
>
You nock a multi-hued spiral painted arrow with a drakar tip in your sephwir recurve longbow.
You fire a multi-hued spiral painted arrow at a greater earth elemental!
AS: +450 vs DS: +59 with AvD: +20 + d100 roll: +52 = +463
... and hit for 60 points of damage!
Lacking the force and angle to lodge in a greater earth elemental, the spiral painted arrow simply falls.
Roundtime: 3 sec.
R>swa
You swap your sephwir recurve longbow from your left to your right hand.

>kill
You swing a gleaming sephwir recurve longbow at a greater earth elemental!
AS: +454 vs DS: +99 with AvD: +6 + d100 roll: +21 = +382
... and hit for 30 points of damage!
Blow to back cracks several vertebrae.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Admittedly, though, I usually just use my briarsword if I'm going to do THW.

You can attack with a shield too (shield bash).. so.. if you can disarm a bow, you should be able to disarm a shield too

That would make sense too, if you could use a shield to initiate offensive AS/DS resolutions.

The equivalent Cman for shields is sunder shield. Its used much less, but it is in the game.

Ranged weapon users neither block nor parry. They get simulated distance DS based on their ranged and perception training. This requires a ranged weapon in the left hand. If you have no bow in your left hand, you would parry with whatever was in your right hand.

simulated distance DS? i would like to be able to evade a disarm then...i wouldn't mind if they took away the ability to attack with a bow if it meant that it wouldn't be disarmed...imagine sunder bow then? still a preference to having to spend all my cman points learning a skill only for defensive purposes...

does training past 2x in perception help distance DS? i know that more than 2x in perception does nothing for AS...

just as the attack roll against a ranged user simulates getting close as well whacking them, so the CM roll simulates getting close as well as removing the bow from their grasp.

Perception over 2x counts at half the rate perception under 2x does. Triple dodge first, its much better value for DS.
