Help my recollection here:
+ Is this one like Fortitude, in that we can sing it/stop it, and the duration will run for "length of Renewal" [useful version],
OR
- Is this one that we have to keep running and remember to stop before it renews and kills us [useless version]?

Thanks!

For your group it stays on if you stop singing.

For yourself it goes poof when you stop singing.

Well, THAT's crap.

(Thanks for the answer, though.)

It isn't all bad. I can give people 8 minutes of power and kai's in TC before they go hunt if they are having trouble and I am otherwise engaged. It doesn't come up often but it does happen.

That's... not something I would have thought to do. :)

That's not actually true. While the spell effect does appear to stay on, the benefit stops as soon as the bard stops singing. You can use the MANA verb to verify this.

Okay now I'm gonna side with Krakii about the whole thing being poor. I had based my assumption on the fact the spell did not 'drop' from party members til the duration ended... I guess that wasn't a good indication.

You change your tune slightly, adding the element for Song of Power to your song...
Your spellsong is ready.
You weave another verse into your harmony.
You feel completely in touch with the flows of mana.
*As you sing, you feel the mana around you begin to fold and shift in a sudden chaotic frenzy!*
Sing Roundtime 3 Seconds.

So, that was a fresh start to the song (I have the log). It was in the Arena and I was the only person present. It is my understanding that the song should NEVER explode on start up unless there is another bard singing power present, or the room has an artificial node in it. I'm being told this may not be the case.

Is my understanding wrong and there is a fumble built in to the start up that I've just never seen? I have several million EXP hunting with the song active and I have never seen such, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I have noticed boxes, weapons an other items dropped by previous competitors in the arena, I suspect many are casting mana focus during the course of their battles, and the effect is hanging in the room still when you arrived ready to start up powersong. I've noticed the dust stirring messaging that indicates 418 wearing off right around the time I off the first champion, then it seems fine to use 1018.

That is what I suspected had happened... but my question does stand as stated (as if my understanding is wrong I want to know, for the sake of knowing). Have you ever had 1018 kill you on a fresh start in a clean room?
