What item are you trying to make? There's plenty of players and gms that might help you figure out a good base to start from.

Probably get some random item that could be altered into the desired item, then add Ezscripts to it.

I know contraptions (specifically with that noun) exist in the game, so yeah, you should be able to find something. Additionally, I THINK there's a tinker's shop somewhere that has gnomish goggles and the like that would be good.

Yup, exactly this. If you want it to DO things, then you might need Ezscripts. But if you can find something that does what you're looking for, and it's not a massive essence violation (check up the alter rules) you might be able to get it modified to a contraption. Those kind of alters can be a bit subjective though, so explain your goal to the GM. My experience (and only my experience) the end result is the most important part in determining if it's ok, how you get there is just details (and yeah, providing a bunch of springs and cogs as alter fodder helps)

I'm not sure you'd be able to do that. Premium teleporters already have a script on them, thus they're probably excluded from ezscript additions.

If you're getting the scripts made with PP, then it's 1200 for the first action, 600 for each after. This can get pricey fast, hence why we're encouraging you to try finding an item that works and has the scripts you want, and then get it altered (which is only 300 for a scroll through PP, and "free" (nominal silver fee) if you are patient and wait for a merchant.

Ultimately, if you really want it to be specifically scripty the way you want, then you're talking EZ Scripts at those prices.
