So my computer crashed and I had go through Recovery. I got the launcher installed and when I start it up it tries to install the Wizard, which I think it needs to do. But when Wizard V2.05 Installation starts running a small box appears saying "Searching for Wizard Front End" and then I get the Windows error dialog box saying it has encountered a problem and must shutdown.
When I go to the Wizard Client download page there is a statement that says "Our site indicates that you have ActiveX enabled." And tells me I don't need to download anything to use the Wizard.
Any help getting the Wizard installed would be appreciated.

Ahh, no. Sorry.
What I mean is use it to do the install and log in once, then you won't have to use it again -- I'd leave it installed for 'emergency' problems one might experience. But, after installing and logging in once, you should be able to log out, then log in with the general Lich game loader without any problems.

Here's what I think:
1) You mentioned going through Recovery (which will replace core system files on your computer).
2) You didn't mention doing any type of restoration of applications.
3) You probably have a corrupted install of the SGE / Wizard application.
It is corrupted because some of the files used by the install are not really present (Recovery saw to that).
I suggest you use Add / Remove programs to uninstall SGE and Wizard. You may run into some errors with this, as well, but it's your best bet in my view.
I'd then suggest you reinstall the SGE, and let it reinstall the Wizard.
If that doesn't work, I'd punt and try to install the StormFront front end and see if that works.
Feel free to drop me a note at doug at play dot net, too, if you wish.

Anytime.
I've been in like situations a few times.
Before you go all out on the new PC purchase, you might consider getting a new harddrive (maybe 60 bucks?, cheaper than a new OS), installing it as your C drive, and moving your existing drive to D (for data), then installing a clean XP OS, with all security updates and installing Microsoft Security Essentials.
Then, move on to connecting to the network, etc, and do a clean install for the game.
